Durin is given the choice between two sentences - Bhelens lot is pushing for him to walk the Deep Roads alone, while Endrin is pushing for him to be allowed to join the Legion and restore the honor to House Aeducan through his service. He accepts the Legion and goes off to fight, knowing that he is supposed to die in the Deep Roads fighting Orzammars' people. When a year goes by and Duncan discovers him in the middle of a battle in which he has accidently been infected with the taint, Durin doesnt agree to leave knowing that if he joins the Wardens, he'll live. He wants to die to reclaim his honor and serve out the sentence the Assembly gave him. Duncan has to force him (via Kardol, his Commander) to leave the Deep Roads (he did come to Orzammar looking for a recruit and cannot leave without one, to borrow from the HN, afterall) and go through the joining.



It might be better not to use the RoC as the way he forces him to leave (perhaps suggesting that he can better serve Orzammar by ending the Blight or something like that) but like I said Ive just got a framework for the story for now and Im currently trying to build on it into actual words

I hate suspense. I think it's a little unhealthy just how much I hate suspense. If I'm seeing a movie, there's a very good chance that I'll look up the run time and the plot on Wikipedia before actually watching it. And don't even get me started on my love of spoilers. You are freaking killing me here.

You said we were getting to Orzammar two chapters ago. And then last chapter. And now there's more of a delay? What, will they get ambushed by Dalish and forced to deal with that treaty? Will Jowan start another zombie apocalypse? They decide that searching for a mythical artifact is more urgent than stopping Orzammar from tearing itself apart?

You'll see what happens. After all, the protagonist has to prepare

So I'm still in the process of reading but I thought I'd point out that when you have Raonar calling Faren adorable and Faren getting all flustered, it's really doing nothing to discourage me.

Trust me, there is a very deep emotional reason why Faren flipped out there. It'll eventually become clear.



Beating him to a pulp was supposed to be unexpected. Hell, even all the other characters said so.

Another excellent chapter, really enjoyed your use of description while talking about Raonar following Faren through the snow and Wynne talking about it being odd how early they camped when the sun was only just lowering towards the horizon, etc etc

And about him expecting it, he really does prepare for a lot of ****... but this means that, if something happens he somehow didn't or couldn't prepare for... the consequences would be severe, to say the least.

Oh wow Raonar.... amazing chapter. Epic fight scene was epic.. and the use of description of the terrain into the planning of the battle... fantastically awesome! Loved every minute of it!



Also, the LeilianaxRaonar bit was interesting, and when she said that he would have been a master of the game back in Orlais.. wow.



Really can't wait to find out just what he did to pull 200+ darkspawn onto their position and what the omega and the others were doing

Considering you actually repeated yourself, I'll take it at your word.

Chapter 38 will have the explanation, of coruse, and I'll TRY (again) to get things all the way into Orzammar. As I said, this all will be very relevant later on.
