Yes! Yes! Exactly what I needed! It connects the dots, fills the spaces, and truly shows the gradual transformation of Trian Aeducan. Absolutely loved this chapter.

I can read a 600 page book in about 4 hours and have complete recall of everything Ive read.

And yes, I did find it believable. The use of the journal as the vehicle for showing what was going on from the time that Raonar left to the time he returned not only showed his growing maturity that was shown in the previous chapter, but gave extremely good insight into the development of that maturity, though you still showed aspects of the immaturity even in the later journals so you showed that he hasnt completely stepped out from being his old self just yet.

Reserving my judgment worked out very well for me, I didnt have any real expectations and the ones that I was considering you blew out of the water. Marvelous chapter.

Like you could ask me what happened on page 465, paragraph 3, and with just the chapter number as a hint I could tell you exactly what happened in that paragraph on that page. Ive never played ME2 so I wouldnt know anything about that mate

I try not to make expectations beyond knowing that the writing is going to be good. Speculation only leaves me feeling like an ass (but only when reading fanfiction. Books, Movies, and Games I can guess the entire plot, the twist, and the end within 20 minutes of starting it.)

It's not total recall - I cannot for example, tell you what the paragraph says in detail, just the gist of it. I can recite entire movies, I never forget a song once Ive heard it twice, blah blah blah

And really, it's not so much of a sight recall as what I hear and what I read/process in my head. I can remember faces and pictures pretty well, but nothing extraordinary.

I will eventually get to that. Trust me, I actually DO have something in mind, something I am sure no one ever thought about before.

For now, I'll just say the DN is well aware all he is doing may end up being totally useless, but he does it anyway. What he's trying to do is set an example and prove that people can be persuaded to your sde/made to do great things without having to become a monster (and he's managing it so far, with great difficulty, but still, managing it).

Getting himself exiled and then smashing everyone with the reality will be a huge shock for everyone. And the Shaperate records all memories for future generations, so that, at least, will do something.

I have ALSO thought of another, short-term measure. But I will not spoil it, sorry. it will be revaled MUCH later in the story.

The problem with honor and morality in ruling is that a leader will end up a in situation where he has to take unsavory methods to maintain the peace of his nation. Machiavelli did believe a leader should try and be loved but that it is preferable to be feared. ( He argued for moderation though ).

Just my 2c, though yes what is recorder in the memories will certainly be remember. Hell Bhelen was inspired by the King Bemoht I believe.

Chapter 44: Quests on Top of Quests (Archive of Our Own) has now been posted. Next one will have the Leske and Jarvia stuff, so there will be some action again. And explosions (from TRAPS!).

Yeah, the song works (thought it makes sense considering what it's called). I realized that the song I put in (and it's Chinese actually, well, the band is) will fit well with a certain chapter of this 'little' story of mine immediately after the part where **** hits the fan.

Another good chapter, I was especially glad to see Zevran getting some good quality writing time :-)

Well, I did some for Sten, Wynne gets a lot with her journal things, I looked into Leliana a bit (she still hasn't gotten around to mentioning who she was before, not that most people don't already suspect it ) so i figured i'd do some Zevran for once. That leaves Morrigan, and i already know what to do with her (double entendre aside).

That said, I hope I managed to stay in character with Zevran. And do tell if Sten's subtle trolling is OOC too.

What, you're rooting for them now? Do they even have anything in common?

Depending on how you play Leliana you've got two people who got tired of "The Game" to the point that they dropped everything that was important to them respectively to either get out or try and fix things. Not only that, both are strong in their convictions, do whatever is necessary to protect the people they care about (whether or not that was wise in Lelianas case back in Orlais is indeed debatable but *shrugs*)

Not to mention, you've got ships going on with Brosca/Tabris, Alistair/Cousland, and Leliana has been making eyes at the Warden for ages now. I'm throwing down betting money that either Raonar calls it, or after the whole Majorlane thing happens we see a character shifting moment that could lead to a romance.

Who knows, I could be wrong. But I think it would be interesting, at least from a character development stand point, to see Raonar pursuing another woman after what happened to Leandra.
