The writers at Bioware haven't the bloody faintest clue about how real warfare works.

Seriously, 1.000 troops at River Dane for the Fereldans?! Those are numbers that involve a skirmish, not a bloody battle.

And I can't believe I forgot that Qunari only came 300 years ago into Thedas and that the last Blight was 400 years ago....more shame for since I actually covered that tiny detail in my own fiction.

Uuh.... maybe Thedas has a very low population compared to the numbers we're used to? =]

.....

Tell me you aren't really going to use that argument.

P.S. My offer for making you a large battle description still stands, that also includes numbers, organization, logistic whatever.

To first question: You did notice the smiley, right? :P

To the P.S: Considering how long it will take for me to get there... well, let's just say that I still have to make sure I don't get sidetracked by life, get killed because of some loose brick that falls on my head or whatever else could suddenly interfere with fanfic writing. So yeah,.it'll be months before I can even think of that and I have yet to actually study the Denerim city map. It looks like an armed force would have no choice but to go along the northern bank of the river, then cross south and go west to the fort.

Honestly, I think I'll just have the mages freeze the river over so that half the army can cross towards Fort Drakon that way, or something. To take generals by surprise maybe.

Anyway, it'll be a long time before i actually invest much time into that :P

You are going to meet a large force of Legionnaires in the next chapter though right?

Not overly large :P But yeah, the Legion'll show up, although the interaction might not be what some would expect.

well if you want I can give you some ideas on how weapons would work...some ideas on what organisation they would have, logistic etc.

Edit: For the Legion that is.

Hmm, I'll probably not delve into it much right now, since next chapter will be a bit of a mind screw, but I won't get away without it later. So, let's see what you have in mind.

I should send this in a PM ( could be considered spoilers I suppose if you follow my ideas ), but first remove me from your blocklist.

I know who Raonar reminds me of as acharacter, and why I sometimes find it hard to believe the things that he understands and plans for.

Raonar is like Bean from the Enders Game books. Bean is a child who had his genes manipulated while he was still an embryo to turn what is known as Anton's Key, a sequence of DNA that when manipulated allows the constant growth of the persons mind, but along with the constant growth of their mind there is the constant growth of the body. They develop slowly but have two growth spurts, after the second one they never stop growing, and develop giantism. They die by the time they're twenty.

The believability is in the science, the reason why he is so intelligent and nearly omniscient in the aspects of planning and in figuring things out with the smallest of clues is because he wasgenetically designed to be that way. There isn't any reason stated or explained to allow an understanding of just how Raonar is as intelligent and crazy perceptive as he is. Therein lies my confusion sometimes.

Hmm... but what odd things did the DN plan for here? The reason he flipped Bhelen's scheme on its head is because, as he revealed, he'd known of his machinations from day one (well, day three and a half) so he'd prepared a lot of scenarios. And yes, I do plan to eventually reveal just how he found out about it.

So far, his schemes were kept in the confines of politics and the like, which he has a lot of experience in, and he has an astute grasp of human nature, yes, but did I really make him seem as though he had omniscience/foresight like Flemeth or that statue in the circle tower? If I did, I must be doing something wrong...

Ah well, you just wait until the next chapter comes out :P Although i haven't managed to start on it, what with real life and all. sigh.

He has these grasps of things, and a near omniscient ability to plan and figure out contingencies. But no explanation for these amazing mental powers, nothing talking about his education beyond saying that he read a lot of books. That's all I meant.

Not sure those magical suits of armor can be as effective as a real golem. Sure in game they might be, but it's a game. They would just be cannon fodder while Golems are effective at war due to them being sapient beings with skills and reflexes not magically powered.

Still am glad you didn't kill any of them...seems incredibly stupid to kill either Branka or Caridin.

I know, but magical suits of armor don't need souls and are a lot easier to mass produce, especially if the Circle of Magi apparently had no problem making theirs a long, long time ago.

Besides, going by what the game shows, those sentries are really tough to crack, since they hold their own even in witch hunt. Plus that they have no stamina issues or pain. They can go on and on until they break, and it definitely isn't easy to bash up silverite/steel/red steel plates.

I'm sorry to say but you make Raonar too much like a righteous ****** in these kinds of scenes.

Hmm, I could say that's your pro-Bhelen side talking, but did you really not notice that he was deliberately acting like a righteous ******?

EDIT

Also, keep in mind that this was Bhelen's POV. Of COURSE the narration will paint things that way.

I am not talking of Bhelen only I am also talking in other situations with other characters, I am NOT saying he isn't right what I AM saying is that the way he expresses himself comes off that way.

Yes. He knows it ;). He's doing it on purpose too (and he doesn't like how he's coming across as either).

He already mentioned this: He's really frustrated over how he just can't seem to succeed in his primary goal (make people think -right- for themselves) and knows its because of his charisma (they leave it up to him to decide stuff instead of building the backbone to realize what it is on their own). Acting like an annoying ass from time to time is a (futile) last ditch attempt.

The problem is that things keep happening that constantly outweigh those episodes.

Yes, it doesn't make sense. He knows it too, but he doesn't have any better ideas (as outlandish as it may sound).

Granted, him acting like this here was for a different reason (and it wasn't just pissing Bhelen off so he'd pull his coup and finally nail all those deshyrs). Ironically, Trian will be the one most pissed off when said reason comes to light in 2 chapters' time.
