I can't just imagine he practically had a heart attack the first time someone said something about it. Being in close proximity to Cailan might not have been the BEST idea for keeping his identity secret. It really makes you wonder why he wasn't with the other Wardens...

Actually, I am quite sure Cailan asked for Alistair to be sent to the tower because he was well aware he had no heir.

The next one will finally explain what the sod Raonar went through in the Deep Roads, as well as what enabled him to break free of the corruption of Orzammar politics. Alim will also have a avery improtant role, as one can probably already guess.

Here is the absolutely scandalous explanation, I hope it's not overly unbelievable.
EDIT
Also changed a pair of the portraits on the first post.

Now I'm thinking of starting on that Chapter 12 and getting the Ostagar battle underway. Still, I'd like to know if there is any particular character interaction you lords and ladies would like to see before all hell breaks loose.
Yes, quadruple post, but hey, they're hours/days apart.

Anyway,
Chapter 12: The Calm Before the Storm is now up on FF.net.
And to quote a certain someone. "Do say something dear."

But...but I did! A lot of somethings! It was just at ff.net. I have to wonder...is Gwen the only recruit Alistair likes at all at this point? Raonar he thinks is creepy, Alim is a blood mage, Theron terrorizes the guards, Faren and Kallian steal things...Raonar wrote...

But were one to say something, you'd need to be present to hear it, no? Perhaps one should write something instead. And to quote a certain someone. "Do say something dear."

Ah, but I did....
Or do you mean i should start posting the entire story here as well? Regretfully, it would not exactly be practical, since its over 125K words long already, and is rated M, which probably isn't all that perfect for these forums.

LOL, chill, I know you did. I was half-joking because I noticed how the mods have been going on a thread-closing spree lately and was worried my multi-posts would somehow be seen as inappropriate, unlikely though that may be.
And to answer your question... Hmm, Alistair is apathetic to most of them, but doesn't exactly have any problems with anyone except Alim and Raonar. And he'll keep having issues with thm until the very end of the tale.

This is my take on what a blood mage can do when there is a lot of blood lying around.

Nice way of showing the Battle as unwinnable.....

He isn't all that special in absence of a sea of blood.
And really, the battle IS unwinnable. Alim just stalled them for like, 5 minutes, tops. The darkspawn were still swarming and swarming.
I am a sucker for dramatic effect I guess.
And I deliberately made it look like it might not be so unwinnable,

As for the battle unwinnable, that was meant as a compliment..
Faren's comment is proof of this:
But they were losing. Stone, they were being overwhelmed. They had exhausted almost all of their poultices and the soldiers were being cut down one after the other. Red and black blood flowed out and mixed with dirt and rain water. No doubt the ground would be black itself if there was enough light to actually make the colors obvious.
Now no offence, but only a blind fool would look at that battle and say it was winnable after this statement before the beacon is even light ( sure it does get light a few lines latter but ).
And no offence. Cailan does not ****ing deserve to live, so you better keep him dead

Where do you get the will to write so much though?

Ah, now I understand. Thank you then.
And as a reassurance, I'll post a smal spoiler here and say that Alim's last spell wasn't supposed to go off so horribly. Flemeth had a hand in the giant raving thunderstorm.
And I'll make sure to have Alim suffer some nasty side effects.
And yes, Cailan will die, and so will Duncan. So no worries
EDIT
Wait... did I just say you should be relieved that Cailan and Duncan will die?
EDIT 2
As for writing so much. I don't really spend that much time on the writing itself, since my job consists of typing all the time, so I type really fast. And the story has, more or less, already taken shape in my brain, so it's just a matter of putting it in words and checking the thesaurus regularly, to expand my vocabulary.

Well that's just my interest limit. You could reach yours at, say, 300K and still not be anywhere near done.Raonar wrote...
Not much chance of that. I'm already past 120K and my interest is not dwindling in the slightest.

In other news, I just got a review saying my story is being discussed on some other forums, and there was one poster who said it's boring how I just wrote out the machinations and told them to the reader.
Should I tell him that what I explained isn't remotely close to the magnitude of what I will drop n the heads of the readers later?
But I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future.

So I've heard. The mere fact that one of them called it "the best I've seen" is definitely something, although the fact he/she said that makes it likely that he hasn't read Sundered Order.
From the Dirt 1 and 2 are the best Fanfictions out there for Dragon Age, period.
I also think you wasted half a chapter with Cailan....but that's just me, and I hate him. One can portray his death however he likes, and I would still have the burning desire to kill him.

Ah, well I guess I'll have to get started on those pretty soon. I have no delusions that my story is 'the best', not by far, so no worries there.
And I know you can't stand Cailan, but I do, just as much as I like Loghain in fact, but for different reasons, obviously. And I know it may be fairly moot at this point, but I'm quite certain you'll approve of what Raonar will do about Loghain when the time comes.
@Sarah1281
Thanks, it took a while to get that scene in order, since it's not so easy to write something about a character with so little screen time, but I based my view on him on Anora's description of him.
