 I've looked around for a solution to this problem for a while, but I haven't found a thread, or google search on it. 

When I start up the cutscene editor, there's just the viewports. There is no timeline anywhere. I've pressed almost every button in the toolset to try to make it appear, but none of them work. 

If you have an answer to my problem, it would be much appreciated.

do the windows go to near the bottom of the screen? Grab the bottom of the lowest view port and drag it upwards to see if the timeline is now exposed.

I have tried a lot - but to grab the lowest view port at the bottom?! That´s against the common rules of GUI design and usability.
