I have not been able to find a viable solution to a problem I have been having.
I bought Mass Effect from steam for 5$ and after a five hour download the game will not start even if I run as administrator i keep on getting the same message:

General protection fault!

History: GMatrix2D::Swap() Sdress = 0x111b752d (filename not found) [in
c:\\program files\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\mass
effect\\binaries\\MassEffect.exe]
GMatrix2D::Swap...etc

System Specs:
AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor
Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT
Windows Vista
Ram 3gb

I have tried reinstalling

Have you tried updating video drivers?

How about running in XP Compatibility mode?

1. Choosing a decrepit corpse like this, of which even the BONES are falling apart is a silly way to try to get any answer. There are maybe a hundred newer threads about the same thing, I'm sure. Most of the time, this is caused by bad drivers from nVIDIA, but bad video from Intel is equally useless.

2  Avoid the foolish and broken on site Finder Function, it's worse than nothing at all.  Use a professional Search Engine instead.
