Hi all, ive got a question you might help me with, i recently rebuilt my system, and im wondering if i can run ME2
ive got Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.20GHz ( HT supported, reads as 2 CPUs) 1gb ati graphics card (HD4650)  and 4 gig of RAM and im not sure if they'll do for ME2 so thought id ask here, ty in advance!
*edited to clear up my lack of tech knowledge xD
**EDIT2**
for those who have similar specs to mine who are curious, yes ME2 will not only run but run awsomely on these specs! no lag, stutter, crashes or other problems you would expect, but if you arent sure try the demo first and if that runs well the game will too.

The Pentium P4D was a rather bad CPU in its day, compared to what AMD was selling way back then, so you'd need a really good GPU to make up for it, which I am not sure at all you have, since you went to the trouble of naming the least important characteristic of the one you have.

Onboard RAM doesn't mean a lot on a bog-slow video card, if that's what you have.

MINIMUM Graphics
Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater; ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 210, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9200, and 9300; ATI Radeon X1300, HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, and HD 4350 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

RECOMMENDED
ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, or better, recommended
NOTES: For the best results, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video and audio cards. Laptop or mobile versions of the above supported video cards have not had extensive testing and may have driver or other performance issues. As such, they are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.  Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

Are you saying that you have some type of server style mainboard with separate CPU sockets on it?

We don't use the term "dual" to describe that setup.  The P4D was a true dual, with a pair of cores in one package, one single socket, just slow cores compared to any Intel CORE processor.

It's been so long since that two-socket mainboard was produced, I have no idea how well (or how poorly) it might run with this game, sorry.

lmao, think i'll just give up xD im not so well off i can go out and replace parts on a whim, but my 2 cpu set up runs most new game perfectly ( and yes its only 1 socket in there i popped the side and checked xD ) ,but all this core duo/dual core stuff just gives me a head ache, though ive heard people run it fine on dual core machines especially since the patch..thanks anyways gorath. but all the hassle..really..they totally need to be clearer with cpu definitions ¬.¬ But if anyone with a dual core cpu like mine has played ME2 see this, let me know how it works, i loved ME1 so much i really would like to play 2!!

You know there's a demo right?

If you can run ME1 at a decent clip, ME2 doesn't work your system much harder (often better).

Unreal 3 engine --> Unreal 3.5 engine...

Indeed, try the demo. A single-core Pentium 4 isn't a great CPU anymore, but yours is fast enough that it may be able to make do. (If it reads as 2 cores, it's 1 core handling 2 threads. Think of hyper-threading as 1 core emulating 2 - you have half the cores that the OS is seeing.)

And as crunchyinmilk says, ME2 isn't actually a big leap from ME1. If anything, it seems to need less from the CPU - though more from the GPU - which may leave your system relatively better off.
