The perfect ending would be a culmination of all the choices I made along the way and would thus be different for everyone that played.
This. This is why I play and enjoy Bioware games.
I'm also more curious to see how the groups and species respond/interact/work into the galaxy-wide story than a Shepard's personal, very specified denouement, such as "she retired to Florida with her LI, had four kids, and took up knitting pot holders in the shape of different alien heads.":D If my Shepard lives, leave it somewhat open and vague please!

Retire from active service and settle down somewhere with whatever partner the player chooses, maybe have kids if it's a human or Asari. The guy/girl deserves a break, Shepard already died once already. The Normandy is kind of his ship though, even though I think it's the greatest ship ever in the history of entertainment (I always get this joyous feeling when the second gets unveiled) I wouldn't mind seeing it wrecked as long as Shepard lives.
Indeed, the unveiling of the Normandy 2.0 is the only part of the game that continues to give me goosebumps five playthroughs on.
EDIT: Should be a-many different endings, depending on the choices you make and the choices you're given. I honestly don't have much of an idea for what I think he should do afterwards. I'll leave that up to Bioware's imagination.

Or the satanic ending where Shepard becomes a Reaper.

Personally I'd like my ending to be Shepherd giving his life to save the rest of crew.

Anything BUT this. Hero giving his life to save the day is cliche and unnecessary. Not to mention that, seeing as he has already died once, a permanent death makes this a carbon copy of The Matrix.

But in all seriousness I hope no one I like dies, and I hope Shepard doesn't die. I hope they make ME4. Ordinarly I'd say don't taint a game with unnesscary sequels to make money, but I know BioWare would make it good.

Yeah, the Shepard dying bit I only have a problem with because so much of the forum seems convinced that it's the only credible way to end the series... somehow. It could be good if it's done right, but like many powerful, emotional storytelling elements... it almost always done wrong.
