Wrex get's fired out of a Mass Relay directly into the reaper fleet resulting in a headbutt so epic time its self implodes, stars explode, universes collide, black holes are create, matter fuses together. The reaper fleet is sucked into an alternate universe with only one thing to watch on TV, Two an a half men. Wrex on the other hand is blown back and lands safely on Tuchanka where he dons a top hat and monocle., and attends a classy dinner party everyone is there. Also Shepard gets a rocket car.

Lots of random 'SPLOSHIONS. Shep points at a Reaper. Reaper blows up.

Considering that Shep ended their time on  3/6 of the major plot locales in ME1 through massive explosions, and blew up or otherwise destroyed roughly the same ratio of major plot locales (if we include loyalty, recruitement and Illusive Man-forced locations). This is pretty much a given.

Shep gives life to save galaxy. Emotional scene involving LI saying goodbye, don't leave me, etc. Game ends with Anderson presiding over Sheps funeral with surviving crew members in attendance.

Also would be cool if LI was with child when Shep bites it. Sounds epic and emotionally impactful ending to me.

I think we need a few endings here (like in, say, DA:O).

The "Shepard sacrifices himself" ending is good for every kind of character (paragon & renegade).

A paragon ending should be the basic happy ending with the big party, honors for Shep, apologies from the council and live happily ever after, bla bla bla.

For renegades, there could be several interesting possibilities. One scenario has Shep honored as well, but primarily because he elevated the human race (via Cerberus or the Alliance). Another nice one would be a renegade Shep who sacrifices everything to stop the Reapers. He wins and defeats them but the cost is so high, that he himself remains alone and devastated, searching for a new purpose (but maybe no longer needed by a galaxy that now tries to put the pieces together and rebuild).

Whatever the end. There are a few things I really hope for for part 3. One is that we get to make a decision between Cerberus and the Alliance (and either joined with that or even separate for a galactic peace & cooperation vs. human superiority agenda). Another is that I hope that Shep has to loose something in order to win. I think one of the best moments in ME1 was the Virmire decision because it only a loss can show you what the stakes are. I think the reapers should really be allowed to devastate the galaxy before they are defeated (and not just during the intro of the game but as a substantiala part of the game).

Having more than 1 ending is the obvious way to go. If Bioware is wanting to end the Shepard storyline so that they can do something else in the ME universe then a good conclusive wrap up ending is needed.

However, if they plan to continue using Shepard for future games then having an ending that is open ended is good. It just depends on how they want to do it, Shep stranded on a remote planet but alive, or the Normandy heavily damaged but thrown into another galaxy, or Shep critically injured but stuck into a coma and cryogenically frozen to be awoken at another time.

List is endless with typical SciFi possibilities.. some rather corny and cliched but others could be interesting.

A seriously hard choice - someone dies, either Shepard or his LI, or Joker and the Normandy. Does he choose to sacrifice one of them to save himself, then have to live with that decision the rest of his life, or does his sacrifice himself for those he cares for and the galaxy is thus a smaller place. It needs to be Wrath of Kahn big and tear jerking or so frickin' awesome it makes your knees tremble.

But, of course, there should be three or so different endings so people feel like their choices are important. Whatever it is, it should be bitter-sweet and completely lack anything resembling rainbows and kittens.

Keep in mind, by the way, that since Shepard can die in #2 there has to be at least one ending that that follows from that possibility.

Just as the Reapers are about to win, the Gears of War crew comes crashing through a Mass Relay. Everything suddenly turns the same monochromatic shade of brown and you play the rest of the game as Marcus Fenix with no biotics, weapon powers or proper squad commands. The final choice is when the game asks you if you noticed anything being different, and if you answer no, it erases your harddrive to punish you for being a ******.

Seriously though, I hope Shepard goes completely rogue in ME3 and dies in a blaze of glory, saving the galaxy, while the Council continues to pretend the Reapers don't exist. This would be a good way for Shepard to go, and to set up future ME games without having to retcon everyone's personal playthrough out of existence.

I'm also hoping for a few good plot twists and an explanation for why the Collectors were after Shepard personally. That runs through all of ME2, and it's just left hanging at the end.

Perfect endings for me would be multiple endings. Including an ending where you fail and the Reapers destroy everything yet again.

I'd rather see cutscenes play out rather than text on cards at the end too.

Shepard faces the on-coming Reaper fleet with a sense of looming defeat. His allies lie dead at his back, and only he/she stands between organic society and its annihilation.

With no other options, Shepard gives the most inspirational war cry one has ever heard, and tears his/her shirt off in one deft movement, exposing the evolutionary anomaly that has made him/her so incredibly formidable: a third nipple.

The "tripple nipple" on Shepard's chest seems to stare the Reapers down, and the grotesque sight is too much for the genocidal robots to bear, and it indoctrinates them. The supreme influence of the "tripple nipple" forces them to fly willingly into a nearby star, destroying themselves, and saving the galaxy.

And so it was that random organic evolution defeated the perfection of synthetic precision.

Shepard stands on the bridge of a dreadnought, Joker and Hackett next to him.

Shepard: Looks like the reapers are about to...

*puts on sunglasses*

...reap the whirlwind.

YEAAAHHH!!!

And with such an inspiring speech, the fleet crushes the reapers.

Nope, as I recall, they said that if your Shepard died in ME2, you cannot import that save into ME3. So that won't be neccesary.

As for on topic, I would like ME3 to end without a permanent solution to the Reapers. So it won't end "And now the Reapers are gone forever and there's zero chance of them ever coming back." I would like for them to somehow stay in the ME universe.

The perfect ending would be a culmination of all the choices I made along the way and would thus be different for everyone that played.

Watch, the ending will surprise everyone, making them laugh and cry at the same time. You'll just get an email that says: 'You Win'

and then credits start rolling

So they're going to do another Dragon Age, where your ultimate sacrifice in the end actually meant nothing? So much for doing another runthrough where I sacrifice myself.

I think your death in Mass Effect 2 is a little different, as you only stop the Collectors who are obviously just a spawn. It isn't like you smited an Arch demon or something.

Huh, I had the impression that the death of my character by the end of DA:O meant something. In fact I thought the sacrifice ending was exceptionally well done (if not the best). Why would you say it meant nothing?

Not to go OT though, concerning ME2, your death really means nothing, I agree with Veex. To be fair though, you have to play a very specifically stupid character in order to kill your whole team off, so and it's not like the game doesn't tell you "Don't do ot!".

The reapers, certain of defeat, push a button and destroy all mass relays including the citadel, thus isolating all species from each other - or something like that. I don't see this happening though, mainly because I suppose the ME franchise will live on, right?

I don't get why Shepard should have to die. Especially since (s)he died already. I HATE when writers do that. (ref. Whistler in the Blade Trilogy) It's a bad writers tactic. Outside of dying twice, the hero's death rarely ever works well in any medium. (At least in my opinion)

I would prefer that Shepard survive and we have a narrative that shows him/her dealing with the personal mental scars of the Reaper war and finding comfort in with your LI and settling down somewhere. It shouldn't be too happy or perfect of an ending.

The entire galaxy is nearly destroyed but shepard some how manages to save it with a huge army he managed to raise. but the huge moral decision is to either side with cerberus and destroy multible planets and the citidel to kill off the reapers. Or to side with another faction and order your army to kill all the reapers individually reasulting in huge casultys that wouldnt have happened if you chose to destroy the citidel

Shepard and Tali live happily ever after in the Tunisian desert tending to Joker's heavy burn wounds.
