There's a choice to either save your crew/team or yourself.
He dies heroically(paragon) and is acknowledged as a hero, etc etc.

The Council will be made to look like fools for doubting Shep and the Romance Thread ends with Shep and LI going on a well deserved vacation, while his crew/friends watch and comment on the tremendous feat they and Shep just pulled off.

Personally I'd like my ending to be Shepherd giving his life to save the rest of crew.
Don't know why but I'd like him to die so that it's a definitive ending and an emotional one.
Anything BUT this. Hero giving his life to save the day is cliche and unnecessary. Not to mention that, seeing as he has already died once, a permanent death makes this a carbon copy of The Matrix.
True, although it's arguable that almost anything Bioware could do could be considered cliche. I mean, when you get down to it, there really are only a handful of stories that can be told, especially in film. What matters is how they're told. Personally, I'd prefer Shepard die then get married and live happily ever after. Hopefully Bioware will be creative, although I'm really hoping for multiple endings.
Am I the only one who doesn't particularly want the LI to have a super-huge role? Guess I'm just not big on romances, but I really don't want every cast member to be sidelined by the LI.

Also, it should involve Udina taking credit for stopping the Reapers, and everyone believing him.

Because in the expansion - Awakening - if you died none of your decisions transfer over unless you want to retcon your ultimate sacrifice away. So, while it might have meant something in DA:O, the decision had no lasting impact on the story.

I started over in ME1 the other day with a "Nomance" Shepard playthrough, just in case thatt happens. What's our villain gonna do then?
"Shepard! You fool! In exactly 30 seconds, we'll drop this asteroid on the Hanar homeworld and OVERFEED YOUR FISH! You'll never be able to stop both in time! BWA HA HA HA HA HA"

The Turian councilor apologizes to Shepard. That would be the perfect ending.
Nope, the best ending is reserved for the Turian Councilor apologizing for being so rough on you, but he was afraid he'd lose you, his son, again if you went off on that Reaper quest. Then you go play catch and get ice cream cones.

We have a chat with the last living specimen of the race who created the Reapers in the first place.
The Allosauri.
And the space paleontology expert Mordin is all "Oh! Makes sense now! Cogwheels falling in place, like giant puzzle! How could.. so obvious, really!"
Any less of a plot-twist, and ME3 will just be like any other mediocre 10/10 game

your out to find a XXXXX created by the original race to create the reapers hidden in darkspace that has the ability to also undo them, and that the reapers cannot destroy because there programming wont allow (thus why its hiden in darkspace) and while on your way back you get to watch a half cinematic half real play space battle of legendary proportions.
