How do people handle this situation. When setting up a cutscene we can create a dummy character and map that to 'PLAYER' for the player character.
If we have 5 possible companions that the player can have how do we know which companions will show up in a cutscene? I would assume we have to make dummy characters and assign the actual tags of the compaions to dummy characters but how does the cutscene know which companion is with the player at the time the cutscene is triggered?
Mapping tags for companions ...

You can check the default campaign cutscenes for examples how it's handled. The mapping tags used are "HENCHMAN 1", "HENCHMAN 2", etc which map to companions present with the player. There's also "HENCH:gen00fl_dog" for the dog and i think "HENCH:gen00fl_shale" for well, Shale.
These tags may require the cutscene to have assigned a stage with matching spots, but i haven't really experimented with that. Maybe it can also work without a stage, it's something to test.

Thank you very much I'll use HENCHMAN 1, 2 etc and see what happens.
