If by worst ending we're going by "otherwise good movie", then yeah, I would have to say I Am Legend. Great movie...heck, I didn't even mind the lady and her kid, and showing Will Smith as completely unable to operate socially...it was the way the whole thing went down. His death felt unnecessary, and kind of forced.

I would also throw in Return of the King. Any one of the endings might have been fine...but they threw in 25 minutes worth. Movie is CONSIDERABLY better if you turn it off right when Frodo and Sam are saved.

Planet of the Apes (2001), as well. I actually LIKE the movie...I own it, and will watch it no problem...but the whole thing were he lands in Monkeytown DC? what was that?

I actually stopped to look at some lists for this...but I'm amazed to say that you see some WEIRD crap on them. A number of them mention Citizen Kane...which is seriously one of the BEST endings.

Shusuke Kaneko's films are all great. ex. Heisei Gamera trilogy

Never liked Gamera much. Although, I never really watched it.

Gamera in the 60's was godawful. Kaneko made one of the greatest trilogys every in the late 90's. Gamera the Brave was ok, but Godzilla will always be the king.

True that. My favorite Monster film is "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". I know it sounds cliche, but I really love that film. And I was completely unaware that Raymond Burr was superimposed into shots after production, it was very craftily done.

The only Godzilla film were the American verison is as good as the Japaneses verison. Raymond Burr was one of my favorite actors. They filmed all of his parts for King of the Monsters in one non-stop 24 hour period. Burr was also in the process of purchasing the rights of Godzilla before his death, he loved Godzilla that much.

Burr was great in that film. For it's time (and even today) it was very dramatic. Tge depiction of Godzilla as a monster and not a hero gave the movie a darker undertone.

His parts in Godzilla ('85) would of been much better if it wasn't for the two rude and annoying soldiers that followed him around. Burr made you fell like he belonged in the original version of both films.

To me, he's just as imporatant to the series as any of Godzilla's other rivals.

Now that we have discussed Burr. What did you think of Don Frye in Final Wars?

Well, to be honest I thought that Final Wars was over done. However, Frye did well for an athlete turned actor.

I'm with AwesomeEffect2, Steven King's The Mist was pretty bad. You kill everyone when nothing dangerous is going on and a few minutes later, the Army drives by with survivors and to top it off the first woman to leave the store is with them. That's just wrong.

I think for me is "The Village" by M. Night Shyamalan.

Yes, he's building himself a tradition of making awkward movies and dialogues (want proof? Search fo "What? NO" on youtube), but this still tops them all IMHO.

All the time, they spread the marketing of "Don't tell the secret!" "The secret will blow your mind!" and in the end...when the said "secret" is revealed, we want to go back in time so we don't know the secret anymore.

What a twist!
As for me, I'm going with Dungeons & Dragons. The ending made about 0 sense, but at least the sequel was good.

M. Night Shamalan (or however you spell his name) always has the worst endings. I hope The Last Airbender isn't gonna suck booty cheeks.

Thank God the ending is already Predetermined so he can't f**k it up =D

what ever happened to that halo movie?

It's in Pre-Production

Translated, what Pre-production really means is "the ongoing process of trying to find a director... for about 4 years".

How about I Am Legend? It certainly isn't the worst ending, but I would rank it up there since the ending ruined the whole movie. That movie was great until *SPOILER ALERT* they introduced the woman and the boy and the whole story took a nose dive and went the opposite direction of the original story.

That is interesting because I have seen the alternate ending (the one that is supposed to stay true to the book) and I thought it was really cheesy and lame, I must note that I havent actually read the book but I much prefer the ending that they went with in the movie.

If you dont want to see any spoilers I suggest you avert your eyes now, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

(Major Spoilers)

I have done my homework and have found out that in the books ending we were supposed to believe that the infected have retained some of their humanity and all the infected leader wanted was to rescue the infected woman that had been abducted by Neville for use in his experiments, when Neville gives up the girl the infected leave without any fighting or bloodshed. I found this ending a bit hard to swallow because throughout the movie I was under the impression that the infected were little more than blood thirsty animals and the fact that they would go out of their way to try and rescue another and not try to kill Neville in the process seemed a litte queer to me.

Ok I know there were hints in the movie that the infected werent bloodthirsty monsters and had some form of intelligence like the trap with the mannequin, but when I first saw this I took it as Neville going slightly insane and forgetting about his own trap. In the end I am glad they changed the ending because the original really diddnt fit for me.

(End Major Spoilers)

Another movie with a bad ending is Constantine, liked the movie but hated the ending

Aww but I really liked that ending, nothing cooler than flipping Satan the bird while ascending to heaven.

But anyway one of the worst endings in a movie I have seen would be Boogeyman. They could have gone with a really cool ending where the main character gets blamed for the murders and ends up in the loony bin but instead they just go with "great I just defeated the boogeyman, it is finally over" roll credits.

Hmm, I gotta say Daybreakers had a really pathetic ending, the whole movie was pretty good until the end then the ending made the rest of the storyline pointless tbh.

Jaws: The Revenge

1º Shark roars

2º Shark nearly flies

3º Ellen Brody has a flashback of a moment she never saw, or maybe the shark sends her telepathic images (makes sense with the rest of the movie, in the first draft everything was going to be about voodoo)

4º Shark explodes for no reason

5º Original jaws footage used for the explosion

6º Ship doesn't get broken but then is broken

You sir, are a frelling IDIOT. Did you even READ the books? Had they removed anything else (they already shortened the end by cutting the Scouring of the Shire) would have completely destroyed the meaning of the film.

This is a tough one. At first I was going to mention Terminator Salvation. C'mon, heart transplation in field hospital? But then I realised that the whole movie is meh anyway so I guess it does not count in this thread.

Resident evil: Extinction, the whole movie was horrible and the ending just made me laugh. I wonder what the next one is gonna be like............lol. I am sure it will be lame, if you have actually seen it you will know why.

Edit: But this movie was terrible anyway.

Another vote for American Beauty, but what I disliked was him getting shot. Okay, I see the drama etc of him being killed right when he's rediscovering himself, but geez. And the whole gay kiss thing was sort of creepy and very much out of the blue.

Seems like everyone has a hate on for M. Night Shayamalan. I would generally agree. With the exceptions of the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, The Village, Signs, Lady in the Water were terrible. I haven't seen the Happening and likely never will so I'm going to assume the ending is crap for that one too.
