OH, read the books? AND watched the movies? well damn...I concede. truly, you are a world reknown scholar on the subject of Tolkein. Tolkein himself must be rolling in his grave because surely even HE didn't read it as many times as you.the_one_54321 wrote...
Well, if we're going to start listing qualifications and such, I've read the books, along with The Hobbit and The Silmarilian, and Unfinished Tales, and seen all the movies (I own the extended versions) more times than I can count. But now that the [richard] measuring contest is out of the way, let me just say that you have a very short attention span. I'm sorry that you were unable to appreciate such a comprehensive and emotional ending to 12 hours of film.
You're not talking about what happened in the book, you're trying to talk as if you're a literary scholar. Now, if you had a degree in Literature, that would be a valid qualification. Having read the books, however, is not. I watched Mulhulland Dr at least 5 times, and I still don't get the damn thing short of saying it was all in her head.
Frankly, most of the stuff you mentioned could have been summarized in a montage type segment after crowning Aragorn...Cue the music:
"Merry and Pippen returned to the Shire as heroes, "
"Samwise Gamgee returned to the shire where he swiftly asked out Rosie. They are now married and have 2 kids"
"Still ailing from his wounds on the mountaintop, Frodo accompanied Gandalf, Bilbo and the elves to the Undying lands"
"Gimli and Legolas...well, we don't know what happened to them, because we decided, who cares?"
"Aragons reign lasted 5 millenia and his ancesters were eventually overcome by inbreeding."
