I have seen the light of the Vanguard class.

So yea, the other classes seem to lack that umph that the Vanguard class has.

This was around the time the Kasumi DLC came out, so I had opened up an earlier playthrough with my Infiltrator just to give that mission a quick run. Though still high from the rush of a perfect charge, all my love for the Vanguard got pushed to the wayside with one shot of the Widow. Doesn't seem to matter how much fun I've had learning to play the Vanguard or the Adept or even my current Engineer. I always return to my Infiltrator roots.
Still like a well choreographed battle with a series of charges, though.

and now I feel unable to play the other classes. I was a Sniping infiltrator from the begining of the first mass effect till the end of my first run through the second, and things were good. Then I picked up the solider, adrenline rush was fun. Got the Revenant, life was great. Then I gave Vanguard, it was good. I got 4 points into heavy charge and then... FEAR ME LESSER BEINGS, FOR I AM A GREAT BIOTIC HURRICANE WHO WILL HIT YOU LIKE A BOLT OF LIGHTING, AND RAIN DOWN AND INFERNO OF HOT LEAD RIGHT IN YOUR FACE.
So yea, the other classes seem to lack that umph that the Vanguard class has.
I died quite a bit for the first hour until I got the hang of it. Then I became a two legged weapon of mass destruction that breezed through fights so fast I had to check my radar to be sure I had killed everything - I was expecting SOMETHING to still be standing

Vanguard charging in your face with Claymore!
Widowing the wall behind an enemy's head!
Tech- and/or Bioticing the enemy into oblivion!

I still can't figure out the Vanguard. Getting closer to my enemies always results in me dying faster. Thats also why I never use powers like Pull for myself or my squadmates. My infiltrator likes to be high and far away, out of sight so that the only thing my enemies see is their buddy's head explode from a Widow round and then my squadmates tossing them around like rag dolls.
The idea is after you get heavy charge, you should be able to use the charge and your squad mates abilities to take out a group of three of four on insanity in about 5 seconds, or one clip from the eviscerator. My basic set up is to have miranda use unstable warp, samara use area reave and I use area reave, now i have the health bonus, which at lvl 30 plus upgrades puts me at 650 hp. once charge is ready, i charge the enemy with no shields who is closest to another enemy. Once I knock the charge target back, i blast his friend in the face with my shotgun.
at lvl 30 with upgrades:
Charge bonus: 600 barrier points
Reave bonus: 650 HP
So now I have 1250 total points when dealing with enemies who are very close to me, one of which is in the next county, the other dead from a shotgun blast to the face and the other 2 are about to get rocked again because my squad mates abilities should be off cooldown.

Oh I'm sure it works like that, but my problem with the Vanguard is getting to level 30 without my eyes bleeding from boredom and ineptitude. by the time I picked up an Assault Rifle I noticed things got better but at that point I just wasn't having enough fun. I've had no problems at any difficulty with my Infiltrator or Sentinel. My soldier struggled a little at first on higher difficulties. At this point I'm not returning to my Vanguard any time soon until I give the Engineer and Adept a go first.BigBoss6669 wrote...

In general though without cloak or tech armor I stay out of melee range as much as possible. For a game all about shooting stuff, Charge seems counter intuitive. Most likely its just me though.

Am I the only one who picked the Krogan shotgun upgrade instead of the sniper rifle just cuz it was a stronger shotgun.....? >_> _>

If you can master the quick reload for the Krogan (melee when you hear the click) it is pure carnage.
Don't think you are the only one

Rolled a ME1 Adept... and I starting attacking people with my shotgun..thinking like I'm playing a Vanguard.... o.o
However... Sentinel.... edges out the Vanguard... only for the tech armor...

On normal, Shockwave is awesome. I kinda wish I had Throw, though, and I really miss my good old self-made Warp Explosions. Conversely, I can't stand Cryo Ammo. Vanguards are good, but just don't offer enough variety of play that a Sentinel, Infil or heavily-modded Adept can offer.
I would have preferred a class that worked like ME1's Vanguard. Adding a big chunk of heavy firepower, Barrier and Warp Ammo to an Adept pretty much gives the same play, but not an option off the PC
I never found Sentinels that great, though. Once you get over the novelty of never having to worry about any defences ever, it becomes a bit stale. Tech Armor's blast is alright, but nothing compared to a good Warp Explosion
