More powers are most go DLC but also new leveling system( but keep in 30) so that we can have more powers but still most of them at max.

ahh thankyou. I just updated the OP without checking this page, but next time I'll add this and the AP vs incidiary video. proof that the adept is awesome is always welcome.
my 360 should be back monday or tuesday. with me, Arhka and pacifien out of action for the moment, I sense little progress for the weekend in this thread...
on that note, anyone who has any fraps recordings showing off their favourite bonus powers would be welcomed and rewarded with... well, nothing... but bring them anyway!

No problem - might try some other bonus powers. Never knew Barrier would be of use ...

I'm starting to enjoy barrier... thought I wouldn't... but I am.

It's all down to that damn 12 sec cooldown. On paper, it sounds horrible. In game, with gunfire and cooldown reductions, plus the fact that Shepard just needs to will it into being, it's a damn useful power.

I just wish it was anywhere near as useful on Jacob [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Couldn't have explained it better.

[edit] Heard Kronner was going to do some testing with Flashbang Grenades against YMIRs, I don't expect it to be useful, but I've been wrong before.

The Flashbang has no effect on the mech. Even when shields AND armor are down. Still, it is basically the ultimate Harbinger killer.

Would be too good to be true - quess YMIRs will remain the toughest enemies around.

to be honest I never really thought of using barrier the way you do. in fact, the way you use barrier reminds me more of how I used energy drain on my sentinel; running around zapping people and generally ravaging them with tempest fire/ shotgun from within a few metres.
when I get my xbox back I think the first thing I'll do is bump my 1pt Barrier up to Heavy barrier and commence running around like an invulnerable glowing crazy person.... except on my adept, not my sentinel
In regards to using jacob... generally I don't let him use barrier; I give him his pistol and use him for pull and incindiary. theres nothing worse than hearing 'this'll take the heat off!" just before you wanted to set up a warp-splosion. and especially when he then proceeds to die anyway, regardless of his marvelous new purple plastic wrapping Posted Image

I don't see Jacob's role as my combo initiator. I see him as a pistol using ammo dispenser that can hold a line on his own. I plant him somewhere and barring the AI countermanding my orders, he will survive the encounter while allowing me to flank. The pull is on my hot keys but used as often as Miranda's slam. If I want pull explosions I bring Samara or (depending on build) Jack.

I use Jacob's pull often during Mordin's recruitment. If you target an enemy with it and fire off Shepard's warp at the enemy Vorcha/Krogan/Blue Suns Trooper then you usually get a detonation because squadmate biotic powers are instacast and Shepard's (except reave and slam) take time to get there. Then I can do a followup warp explosion by having shepard send out singularity and Miranda hitting enemies with unstable warp.

The Engineer poll needs dominate on it. It's quite fun.

yes I've been thinking about doing that. I need to add dominate and shredder ammo, and also see if people have changed their minds since all this discussion.

Reave is pretty much the perfect Bonus Power for the Vanguard. I've tried out Barrier (which is a waste since you can charge to replenish) and AP/Warp (which is also a waste because Incineration Ammo is more useful for the playstyle). Pretty much for Vanguard, my top 3 would be Reave, Energy Drain, and Flash Bang in the that order.

Hey numotsbane, you mentioned on these forums somewhere that you'd consider starting a thread based on the merits of Flashbang Grenades. I'd like to see this happen as I really like this power. I'd especially like to see your opinion regarding Flashbang getting in the way of AR for Soldiers. What with the shared cooldowns and all.

I'm trying to decide if I want to change my vote. I think I voted for the wrong power with the Adept if I remember correctly. Also, now that I know how to throw a Flashbang Grenade, I'm much more keen on it these days.

Only Somewhat Done...

actually if anyone with a PC wants to lend me a hand with this, i'd like to get a hold of some screenshots (or videos if possible). PM me.

did I or did I not predict that? it's a rhetorical question... i actually did. Have you played as the worst Sentinel ever yet? its probably my favourite after Soldier... that or CQC infiltrator.

Ok, new polls and flashbang thread are online. because i know you're lazy, links are:

Flash delirium: getting the most from flash grenade

input required.

All my MkII polls now with dominate, shredder ammo, and still too many people voting for fortification. come on guys, it's rubbish.

I haven't even finished my worst soldier ever run... though once I get back to that, I'm pretty sure the better description is that it's impossible to be a bad soldier. Anyway, the xbox is dead. It is being repaired right now.

I'll probably switch to the sentinel and then redo the soldier, as I hate having long delays in the middle of a playthrough.

Anyway, I think I voted wrong for the Adept again. I said Barrier, but it occurs to me that I never used the Barrier for any length of time during my Adept playthrough. Should have been Warp Ammo.

Wonder if I actually changed any of my votes the second time around.

ETA: Wow. Once you added Dominate, I totally expected people to be voting for it with the Engineer class. Guess not.

Not many votes in the new polls, I've kept them at the back here because I'm sort of hoping people actually read the thread first and then vote. but apparently not, because theres an almost saddenning similarity. the big differences (and they're good) are:

1. less ammo powers on Soldiers (huzzah!)

2. Woah, massive pick-up in barrier usage for adepts. pretty sure the credit for that goes to bozorgmehr and his Power of the adept videos. I support this movement.

unfortunately we also get (as this is apparently a democracy... grr)

1. people using fortification. really? ok, yeah, it looks good. maybe thats what counts.

2. not enough flashbang action.

And I'll agree with pacifien, dominate has certainly fizzled a bit. seems people liked it more as an option when it wasn't available.

I really don't understand the votes for Fortification either. Perhaps someone can enlighten us on how it is superior to Barrier or Geth Shield Boost? Maybe they don't want to use a biotic power on a nonbiotic class. Maybe they think Geth are rotten mechanic scum and don't want to use any of their filthy technology.

I wonder if the AI Hack/Dominate builds are a minority playstyle. Those who use it love the idea of having all the enemies fight your battles for you. For Infiltrators, I see more people focus their builds on everything but AI Hacking, only tossing a leftover point into the power. Don't know so much for Engineers.

Hey dominate is a fun power... when you bring Morinth along. Dominating Harbinger is great fun... I just would rather have something that benefits Shepard or directly attacks defenses as a bonus power.

I think thats it... its fun, but not necessarily super effective. also, the thing I really don't like about it is that as you spend more points your slave becomes harder to kill. I don't want an enemy i've just used a power on coming back to bite me in the ass in 9 seconds, I want him to distract my enemies and then die.

also, that one time I 'dominated' an eclipse sister and she got a 350pt barrier and then kept attacking me... well, that was the dealbreaker.

Slam wins for Vanguards IMO since it has such a short cool down you can use it a couple of times then charge. And at the very least even if, like on Heavy Mechs, it doesnt lift them that high it still knocks them over so very useful for crowd control.

Fortification is stupid, ME1 you could armour tank with Immunity and other damage reduction things but ME2 just takes that out the equation instantly by giving you the red veins as soon as you lose 1 HP of health. Now Fortitude would be good if you had a bigger health pool, less red veins and it gave a big bonus to damage reduction. As it is Barrier, Shield Drain and GSB are far better IMO.

Can you set off Warpsplosions with Reave? If so, does it still do so if you reave a target with armor or barriers?

Reave cannot make warp explosions. It can be upgraded to an AOE version, but in no way lends itself to the creation of one. It cannot make one because the biotic field is inside the target, rather than it being surrounded by a field like powers such as Slam, Lift, Singularity, or Shockwave.
