I just hope nobody ever chose Fortification as a bonus power...

I chose Fortification for my first playthrough on Insanity.  I was a Vanguard.  Needless to say, it didn't end well.

I use Fortification as bonus power.

It works so don't see reason to hate it.

If you'd read even a few posts before yours you would see why.

It's almost identical to GSB and Barrier, however barrier gets a boost from biotic upgrades and is instant cast (can even cast while staggered), GSB gets boosts from tech upgrades (and has an optional 10% extra damage upgrade choice) while fortification gets a boost from... nothing and has no bonus to it.

Unless you really, really, really love the color there's no reason to ever pick it over barrier or GSB since it's weaker in every way.

I'm actually surprised that no one has mentioned (from what I could see) using Barrier or Geth Shield Boost for the Sentinel. This essentially makes you able to stick your head out of cover for a good 4-5 seconds before your shield go. A bit tedious before going into all the battles, but definately handy when you have an auto-recharging mega-shield in the middle of battle.

Because Barrier and GSB are Tech Armor without the explosions (and extra shield regen using Assault Armor). Why take a bonus power that doesn't mesh well with the Sentinel's signature power.

Energy Drain is much better. It will net the same shield boost, it's on half the cooldown, it strips enemy shields and in doing so, boosts Shep shield (plus TA). Barrier is nice for Adepts, not so much for Sentinels.

BTW, you don't need either of them, AA alone is enough to make the Sentinel near invincible - you can walk around and beat everyone to death if you like :)

How does GSB and fort work with TA. Lets say TA is active and you are at 170% shields, you activate heavy GSB are you now at 340% shields? Does it double the base so you are at 270% or doe sit replace the boost and put you at 200%. I can see going with GSB if its the first or 2nd option, it is just there for a better first strike. In front of the first bit of cover you get them all going and charge out and you get more killing in before your shield explodes. Not much more but it might be enough given that wit this style of play all you do is use TA Sure when going against shielded targets energy drain is the better choice, but some people don't like changing up powers much so GSB will work better for them since it works on all maps.

They add togeather.  Very nice and handy when about to go into a big battle.  However, I have noticed that up to now (after reading and watching strategy guides), that I have always played as a soldier, so when I played as a Sentinal, I really just used most defensive powers.

Anyway, yes, they add and give you a big shield boost :D
