I just did an entire run to get everyone alive, but I didn't save before picking my specialist and team leaders and I picked Samara as team leader for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure that screws over my tech specialist, Tali, no matter what, and my last manual save in this run was like 10 hours of gameplay before. Is there any way that I can retrieve the save from before the mission on PC? Or better, is there any way at all to change the team leader on my current save? (The earliest is the auto save at the beginning of the chapter)

I think you're boned. The first Autosave happens after you make those picks.

Weeeell, you COULD wait to do Tali's Loyalty mission AFTER acquiring legion. There's a slight chance your crew will get abducted right after that loyalty mission (dunno what the exact counter is), but don't worry-- keeping Legion alive without his loyalty isn't TOO difficult (provided you have everyone elses and all ship upgrades).

Simply put, for the final leg of the mission, make sure Grunt, Zaeed, Garrus, and Legion are all a part of the "hold the line" team (they're the best and will prevent most casualties on the line). Try to bring a combination of Mordin, Tali, Jack, or Kasumi (they're the worst at holding the line) to the final boss, and voila! You're all set. And after the game's finished, you can go back and do Legion's loyalty.

Cool. But Does bringing Legion to Tali's Loy. mission even do anything besides a few Quarians say omg..that's a geth and then say what their default is?

If bringing Legion to Tali's L mission effect anything besides conversation I will bring him.

Damn, should have joined earlier to see this thread. I was depressed and shocked when Tali died on my Renegade file ending early this morning. Oh well, I found out about the Hold The Line strategy where I put Grunt, Garrus and Legion with unloyal Tali and saved her today and finally got the No One Left Behind achievement. Anyway, that was me using this thread as a cheap excuse to introduce myself so her there guys.

Hey there, gunswordfist. Good to see you got your achievement. Going to do the unofficial "Everyone Left Behind" achievement next? ;)

I was wondering what strategy I need in order to keep only Miranda and Jacob alive? I am going for a "Cerberus Agent" player through, So I only want those two alive.

Thanks.

This post is for keeping Miranda, Jacob, and the Cerberus crew alive.

If you don't want the Cerberus crew to survive, don't send an escort. Switch out Tali with Jacob. With Miranda and Mordin loyal and Tali unloyal to Hold the Line, the HtL score is 1 which means theoretically Mordin and Tali should die. The HtL part can be a bit iffy.

Alternatively, you can sell Legion to Cerberus. Kasumi will die due to the lack of shield upgrade. Have Mordin be the second fireteam leader -- he will die. Miranda and Jacob hold the line while Tali and Samara go with you to the final boss. Miranda and Jacob should live. Again, this is if you don't want the Cerberus crew to live.

Thanks alot bud. I didn't think there would be a post but the more I look around the forum the more there does seem to be people who have the same "Pro Cerberus" attitude I do.

No, the order in which squadmates die only happens when the squad you left behind for the defense isn't strong enough. I've never had a problem with Mordin surviving the defense because I always left him with a very strong defense crew (Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed).

When your defense isn't strong enough, Mordin dies. If Mordin isn't there (sent him as an escort, died already, took him with you to final fight), then Tali is next on the list. If neither of them are present, you don't have Kasumi, and Jack died, then Miranda is next on the list. But only if the defense isn't strong enough. That's what the whole "Hold the Line" score was about in the original post.

Don't know if you still have this problem but if you go into the 'Load' screen you can simply just restart the mission

The mission restart saves are done after you picked the specialists. You can only change who goes with Shepard, not the specialists.

Oops, sorry for the late response!

Yeah, unfortunately, that's all it does--change dialogue. It's quite amusing dialogue, but that's all it is. It would've been cool if, say, bringing Legion changed certain things about the loyalty mission (Tali cannot escape being found guilty, for example), but sadly, that's not the case.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but to keep ONLY the human characters alive at the end of the game (including crew and the doc), I have to do the following:

---------------------------

Upgrade heavy ship armor so jack survives

don't upgrade multicore shielding, take kasumi to the oculus fight so legion dies

don't upgrade thanix cannon so thane dies

send non-loyal tali as tech specialist with (jacob, miranda, garrus) not as fire team leader so tali dies

biotic specialist is non-loyal Morinth so Morith dies, take grunt with my team so he dies as well

second fire team leader is non-loyal garrus so he dies

have non-loyal mordin escort so he dies

Leave to hold the line:

Zaeed(loyal)

Jacob(loyal)

Miranda(loyal)

take Jack(loyal) and Kasumi(loyal) to final boss fight

Only humans live!

---------------------------

Right?

Final Squadmates: All Human Crew
-----------------

Loyals: Garrus, Grunt, Jack, Jacob, Kasumi, Legion, Miranda, Mordin, Thane, Zaeed
Nonloyals: Samara, Tali
Normandy Upgrades: Armor
Chakwas and Crew: Alive

Before the Omega-4 Mass Relay
- Lose Tali's loyalty, either by handing in the evidence at her trial or siding with Legion
- Lose Samara's loyalty by scaring Morinth away
- Resolve the Miranda and Jack fight favorably for both
- Head to the Relay immediately upon abduction of crew, make sure all loyalty missions have been done

Approach to Base
- No shield upgrade - Bring Kasumi to the Oculus - Legion dies
- No weapons upgrade - Thane dies

Assignments
- Send Garrus into the vents - Garrus dies
- Use Kasumi as escort - Both Kasumi and crew live
- Use Jacob for shield - Bring Grunt and your choice of Miranda, Mordin, Tali, or Zaeed - Grunt dies
- Use Samara as the Second Fireteam Leader - Samara dies
- Hold the Line - Jack, Mordin, Zaeed and your choice of Miranda or Jacob - HtL score 1.75 - Mordin dies
- Final Boss - Tali and your choice of Miranda or Jacob - Tali dies

Death Roundup
- Legion died by engine room explosion
- Thane died by support beam
- Garrus died by rocket to face
- Grunt carried away by seeker swarm
- Samara after closing the second door
- Mordin died holding the line
- Tali died at the final boss

Since Ecael posted the original post, I've done some additional testing, both to add a few more details of various squadmates' roles as well as work on some incongruities people found with the Hold the Line sequence.
- Exceptions to the Hold the Line Score - Something to consider if you have less than four squadmates left holding the line.
- Who catches who? - Details on who Shepard will catch falling down the platform, who will pull Shepard up onto the Normandy, and when certain squadmates speak.

The impetus of all this research was Ecael's The Worst Possible Playthrough for Import into ME3. To manipulate a certain outcome meant knowing how each section of the suicide mission worked. Ecael's playthrough left Morinth and Kasumi alive, but people started wondering about other scenarios.
- Minimum Loyal/All Survive - The minimum number of squadmates you can have loyal while still bringing everyone out alive.
- All Loyalty Missions Complete/Shepard Dies - You did all the loyalty missions, but Shepard died anyway.
- Pro-Human - We humans are all racists! Only the humans survive, Normandy crew included.
- Anti-Human - You humans are all racists! Only the aliens survive.
- Pro-Cerberus - Only Miranda, Jacob, and the Normany Crew survive.
- ME1 Characters Only - Only Garrus and Tali survive, possibly with Dr. Chakwas.
- Girl Power! - Only the women survive.
- Man Power! - Only the men survive.
- Biotics Only - Duh, it's called mass effect. Use it, people. :P

Wondering what other combinations people have tried to create? Keep in mind that some of these scenarios were created before the Kasumi DLC was released and the full details were hammered out for the Hold the Line sequence. I'll have to take a closer look to see if they still hold up. Then again, these are really getting pretty specific for each individual forumite, so maybe you should just figure it out on your own.

Two Survivors

- Garrus and Grunt
- Garrus and Morinth
- Garrus and Thane
- Garrus and Zaeed
- Jack and Morinth w/o Kasumi
- Jack and Morinth w/ Kasumi - Deemed Nothing But Crazies
- Jack and Samara
- Kasumi and Zaeed - Deemed DLC Power
- Legion and Tali
- Miranda and Thane
- Morinth and Thane - Worst Possible Playthrough, Take 2
- Tali and Zaeed

Multiple Survivors
- Garrus, Legion, Tali
- Legion, Mordin, Morinth
- Mordin, Morinth, Thane
- Garrus, Legion, Mordin, Tali
- Garrus, Miranda, Mordin, Morinth
- Garrus, Jack, Kasumi, Legion, Samara
- Garrus, Grunt, Kasumi, Legion, Mordin, Tali, Zaeed - No Cerberus, No biotics

Just thought I'd post that I've discovered the minimum non-loyal characters for Shepard to die is three.  I've posted the details here► social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/4640449 if anyone is interested.

Somehow I believe I had a miscalculation so I figured I would toss up a question. If I bring in Miranda and Garrus to the final boss fight, will I be able to keep everyone alive?
