In my experience, it goes in a very specific order. It will be Thane unless he's not there in which case it's Jack unless she's not there in which case it's Garrus then Legion then Grunt then... someone else, I forget.Elcirith wrote...
Is there any way to pick who you talk to when you contact the 'hold the line' team after destroying the tubes? Other than picking different squadmates to fight the human reaper of course.

I think I had this question answered before, but I forgot the answer :S
How do you ensure the Collectors don't kidnap your crew before you've finished recruiting all squad mates, earned their loyalty and finished all upgrades?
Do not complete the Reaper IFF mission before doing everything else. After doing that mission, you will recruit your last squad mate. Talk to it immediately to be given access to its Loyalty mission and than the crew abduction will trigger.
I always have it triggered in the mission AFTER Legion's loyalty. IE: I did every possible thing before the IFF, then spoke to Legion twice in a row, went to the map and went straight to his loyalty, and after that the next time I opened the map it triggered it.

- All 3 ship ugrades (stupid me)
- All 11 squadmates (gave Legion to Cerberus) with the following being loyal:
* Zaeed
* Tali
* Mordin
* Miranda
* Grunt
* Jack
* Kasumi
What I am trying to do is get the following killed:
Zaeed (L), Samara, Miranda (L), Jacob, Jack (L), Kasumi (L)
I always wind up (in my thoughtprocess) with at least one alive though.Is it even possible to get all 6 of them killed with my scenario?

Biotic bubble: Jacob as biotic expert, pick Jack and Miranda for squadmates, Jack will die
Leader: Zaeed, he'll die
Final boss: Samara and Jacob, both will die
Sadly, in your situation Miranda is unkillable.

Thanks. That is about what I did. In the end I figured it's not that bad that Miranda survives, afer all we have some kind of romance going

Everyone has a strength that makes them useful in the Suicide Mission.
Garrus: Good leader, high HTL score
Samara: Good Biotic specialist
Jack: Good Biotic specialist
Jacob: Good leader
Tali: Good tech expert
Grunt: High HTL score
Legion: Good tech expert
Miranda: Good leader, only in the last parts killable
Mordin: Alright this is an exception, he's really useless but he makes up for it since he's a plotdevice for Horizon
Even the DLC characters have a purpose. Zaeed has a high HTL score and Kasumi is a good tech expert. Really a shame to see Thane having no real purpose. The best quality he has for the mission is being a mid tier HTL character when loyal but that's nothing really special. To make things even worse, he's high on many of the death priority lists.
I wish there was a sniper or stealth role for the suicide mission or maybe make the escort role require a stealthy character, that way Thane could shine in this mission.

A while back I saw a vid on YT with all your squaddies' lines there, but I can't find it. I know I have to kill off a bunch of them in order to see them all, but my heart is weak and I'm lazy...
Anyone ?

You know, when you think about, Thane is really useless in this game. Realistically speaking you need all the help you can get. But in the suicide mission Thane is worthless.
I never thought about that LOL, but it is true. I always keep him in my party, because well his Drell Marksman+Warp is just awesome for killing collectors. I never sent him as the escort, but wouldn't he be in theory okay at the role, since he is good at avoiding targets, and being the master assassin and all would thrive in that role of sneaking out.

Besides, it's a suicide mission, what a way for him to go, far better than getting killed by Nassana Dantius's people
As Strive said though, I think he is fairly good for taking through the various stages of the mission due to his Warp, Throw and shooting skills. I also reckon there might be some purpose to him, with him being a cover squaddie. Think about it, they picked him and Ms. Plot Armor herself Miranda. Plus he had a fair bit of focus in the trailers too.
Course could be reading a bit too much into it

If you assign a non-loyal squadmate to escort the crew back, I know the escort dies, but does the drew die as well?
Also I may have had a bit of an oddity with the crew.
I just completed my first playthrough since march or april, and as before I did all recruitment and loyalty missions before getting the IFF. After getting the IFF I did Legion's loyalty and then went through the Omega-4 relay. On all my previous playthroughs I was able to save the entire crew, but this time half of them died. Why this happened has me a bit puzzled. Can anyone shed some light on this?
I may have stopped on a hub world between the IFF and the SM, but I;ve done this before to no ill effect and visiting the hub worlds supposedly doesn't advance 'time' anyway. The only difference I can think of is before I didn't have Kasumi.

This has come up before, but I think his role in the Suicide Mission is to be in Shepard's squad. He's tailored perfectly to fight Collectors in the environments featured in the Suicide Mission (pits, precipices, and chasms).

Design flaw. He originally had a role in the suicide mission. The developers gave it to Garrus at the last minute, which meant no time to then design a new role for Thane.lazuli wrote...

The crew lives if you send them back with an unloyal squadmate. Also, I don't know why half your crew died based on the information of your playthrough. After the crew has been abducted, if you do any mission, you will lose at least half of them, but landing on hub worlds never seemed to count toward this. In my experience, doing all recruitments and loyalty missions before getting the IFF would leave me with time for only one mission before the crew abduction: Legion's loyalty mission. Did you go to speak to Legion twice before touching the galaxy map? If you went to the galaxy map first, that might have caused a problem.
Thanks.
I think I did go to the galaxy map before activating legion, guess that's where the spanner came from.

What role? The only role Garrus played was as a potential team leader, which makes sense; Thane doesn't have leadership experience.

Garrus was also a top tier defender when it comes to holding the line. Which also makes sense, considering his recruitment.HappyHappyJoyJoy wrote...

I would never think of him as a top tier defender.
I still wish there was a stealth or sniper role where he could shine.

Same to some extent could be said of Garrus though as he's only an 'infiltrator' type character whereas Grunt and Zaeed are more 'Soldier' like.Da_Lion_Man wrote...

@Stengahpolis when you went to one of the HUB worlds, if it was Citadel or Omega and you picked up Zaeed or Kasumi, that will push things forward. I know this because once when I'd left getting Zaeed till after obtaining the IFF I went to recruit him and when I was leaving Omega (as in going out the door, wasn't on the ship), it fired up the abduction scene. So I imagine that if you were to goto the HUB world after the abduction scene and picked up Zaeed or Kasumi it'd count it as a mission.

----------
Final Squadmates: Kasumi and Thane
----------
Loyal: Garrus, Grunt, Jack, Jacob, Kasumi, Legion, Mordin, Thane
Nonloyal: Miranda, Samara, Tali, Zaeed
* If you want to save your crew: take the paragon path during Zaeed's mission, but don't reason with him.
* If you want to lose your crew: avoid Zaeed at all costs until after the suicide mission.
* Side with Jack during the Miranda/Jack confrontation
* Either side with Legion during the Tali/Legion confrontation or turn in the evidence at Tali's trial
* Scare Morinth away during Samara's loyalty mission
* Obtain the weapons upgrade from Garrus
On Approach
* No armor upgrade --> Jack dies
* No shield upgrade + taking Kasumi to the Oculus battle --> Legion dies
Assignments
* Send Jacob through the vents --> Jacob dies
* If you want to save your crew: use Zaeed as escort --> Zaeed dies
* If you want to lose your crew: send no escort
* Take Garrus with anyone other than Thane through the Seeker Swarms --> Garrus dies
* Use Grunt as your second distraction team leader --> Grunt dies
* Final Boss + Miranda and Samara --> Miranda and Samara die
* Hold the Line + loyal Thane + loyal Kasumi + loyal Mordin + nonloyal Tali --> Mordin and Tali die
* For the curious, the HtL score is 2 + 1 + 1 + 0 = 4/4 = 1 --> 2 squadmates die
The Rundown
1. Jack died by exploding panel.
2. Legion died by exploding engine core.
3. Jacob volunteers. Dies suicidally.
4a. Zaeed walks back with the crew, everyone but him makes it back alive. Or...
4b. Take the paragon path on Zaeed's loyalty mission after the suicide mission. Leave him to burn.
5. Garrus swept away by Seeker Swarms.
6. Grunt's shields fail to hold. Probably because he doesn't have any in the first place. Ah, it was a good fight.
7. Miranda dies by fallen debris.
8. Samara dies by fallen debris.
9. Tali dies holding the line.
10. Mordin got job done, but won't be going home.

Final Squadmates: Kasumi and Thane
