There are some neat mods out there if you're on PC though. One in particular that comes to mind, the Armor of the Devout, is a shining example of how leather armors should have been made to look:

I would not suggest it for a Cunning rogue as that would gimp you, and for a Dex based one....well you dont really need even light armor once you get the higher dex scores. If its aesthetics do what you will just know that going for just looking will always gimp your character in any game versus the people who go for pure stats.

It just isn't min/max perfection, but I can live with that....

I forget what it is but theres a really viable gear setup that will give you 40% chance to evade all attacks, and if you get the Evasion talent that makes this even better.

Evasion is a mixed blessing as the animation interrupts your own attacks.

Started off going after Momentum, then after Fade bonuses, she pushed Strength to 38, left Cunning at 22 for Lockpicking 4, and poured all other points into Dex. With +4 all stats from Key to the City and Audruil's Blessing, she could wear Superior Dragonbone. Ended Origins at Level 22 with base Dex into the 60s
Heavy-armoured rogues shouldn't count on much backstabbing cos even with a dedicated Tank Warrior, the heavy armour still makes enemies gravitate towards you. Hence Duelist is a better specialisation for the head-to-head combat a heavy armoured rogue would often face. There would still be backstab opportunities, just not as much and most often setup by Dirty-Fighting > Coup-de-grace.
Still, I decide that I like my Rogue in Superior Dragonbone cos I hate the chest-revealing Superior Drakeskin (left it to Leiiana but still wince when I see her in it) and Superior Dragonskin/scale/bone gets additional fatigue and fatigue regen to offset the fatigue penality.
More importantly, I dig babes butt-kicking in plate armour

I just finished a run with a Str/Dex Dual-Dagger female Human Noble Rogue/Ranger/Duelist who wears Blood Dragon shortly after Fade, then Juggernaut and finally Wade's Superior Dragonbone for the last 3rd of the game.

If you're refering to your 2-handed Barbarian Rogue, please note my rogue is at heart still a Dex-based Dual-Wield Rogue who had just enough Str to wear Superior Dragonbone.
And my first Duelist/Ranger finished the game in end-November 2009.

Im just making fun, its just you didnt see Duelist/Ranger for the longest time and I like to combine the least used specs (See my Shapeshifter/bloodmage combo haha) its just im seeing ALOT of Duelist/Rangers with heavy armor now it seems. Its pretty fun I just wish I could be Berserker/Duelist lol
