Yeah. As long as you have good protection from level draining 
It's not "pretty much the same". It makes bigger difference than, for example, choosing Werewolves instead of elves in DA.

Yeah, I don't want to come across as saying that DA was all that great in this aspect. But I will say that the interaction of the Landsmeet/DR/final battle decisions is superior to anything in ME, and I'm hard-pressed to find any game that matches it.

I don't mean that your choices matter all that much *within* ME, but the fact that many of the results are seen in ME2 makes a difference to me.
