Who do you think will win in a magical duel?

Morrigan does have the advantage of knowing Flemeth's spells. She also has shapeshifting and most of her magic is combat-oriented.

Wynne, however, is no slouch either. She's a senior enchanter of the Circle and was one of the few to survive Ostagar. Her Vessel of the Spirit ability can give her quite a boost.

What do you guys think?

Most likely Wynne. She's been training a lot longer, and has defensive and healing capabilities that would allow her to keep going longer. Morrigan would just burn herself out.

Morrigan.
1) You get her earlier so she learns Mana Clash faster
2) If they cast Anti-Magic wards on themselves/each other Morrigan will simply overwhelm Wynne (as in slap her to pieces)
3) Over 95% of PCs killed Morrigan's mother for her after Flemmeth basically saved the the world, and then their lives. Twice. Do you really believe they'll leave Morrigan alone with Wynne?

Before or after the sermon?

Before = Morrigan easily

After = Wynne because she's just bored Morrigan to death

Blouse? You mean piece-of-cloth-loosely-and-indifferently-thrown-around-neck ;P

Seriosly though, I'll bet Wynne would win, because of her wisdom and wits. She probably is senior enchanter for a reason.

Wynne has the spirit on her side too, but I would be rooting for Morrigan

It's not like spirit will help you when a giant spider pinned you and chewing off your nipples.

In my game, Morrigan. Offense is the best defense.

i think that Morrigan would win simply because she could just run away to her mother Flemmeth... who would get pissed and go big evil dragon style on Wynne's ass !

Morrigan - she has the best CC, and I think Wynne would have problems with a bear. However, this is only as long as Morrigan has Heal, or else she would drop too fast

By end game both are pretty dangerous, but closer to their default setup it is Morrigan. This is normal, because Morrigan is set up as a damage/CC mage and Wynne to support warriors.

I like how most the people here are basing options that either would stand there in a straight fight face to face and start slinging spells at each other and fight to the death.

Morrigan would destroy Wynne, she's more attack-based. Wynne just heals and sticks her nose in my Warden's business!

They mana clash each othere, both die and your spared Wynns preachyness and Morrigans ****yness.

Besides what kind of man has to rely  on a woman to fight?  have some pride and honour.

I see Wynne as more of a supportive character and Morrigan as a offensive character.

In a fight between the two, morrigan would most obviously come on top however overall i think Wynne is more of a necessity

Yeah, I dump Morrigan after picking up Wynne...plus Morrigan usually disapproves of anything that moves the story along.

Uh yeah, because that's what the OP asked?

If you agree with Morrigan in the Tower, you can actually see this happen.  Set her on Wynne and tell the rest of your party to hold and watch the fireworks.  Of course, Wynne gets spells in this scenario that she doesn't have when you recruit her, so it's not a fair fight.

Morrigan gives frowny faces in Redcliffe and in the Tower, but they are mild and hardly disrupt what you're doing.  Her approval is easy to raise so I just ignore her natter.  It's a lot more tolerable to me than Wynne's preachiness.

Morrigan, I know it's weird but Wynne's healing magic doesn't do that much damage.

Wynne easily because she has more defensive spells, but mainly regenerative spells that keep her mana pool in a good condition. Wynne will put up a force field--allow Morrigan to throw all of her spells, which will just drain her mana. After Morrigan is all but drained, Wynne will use some of her less lethal spells to finish off a tired Morrigan. I don't think its a match at all--Wynne also has more experience than Morrigan (in both age and magic). If Morrigan did train in the circle, she would've probably been more powerful, but we have seen that the circle mages are pretty powerful (Ulrich, Warden Mage, and Wynne).

If Wynne puts up a force feild do you think that Morrigan will be dumb enough to keep using spells until she's tired while it's up? Wynne might have more experience because she's older and has been training longer but if Morrigan did train in the circle, she'd probably be even weaker because she would just have some nobody mage pupil instead of having the legend Flemeth teach her.

Now what I see happening is if this is end game Morrigan would probably win because Wynnes offensive spells suck and if Morrigan sets up a cone of ice and a winters grasp at a good enough point (say when Wynne doesn't have rejuv up  and after a lightning/drain life) then wynnes dead. Now this is if Morrigan does have some healing abilities, but it won't be easy and will probably take a long time to set it all up right.

You say that like Morrigan would care.
