since i had to choose, i picked bg1 since it's the game that started it all for me with bioware. it began the most epic video game series i've ever played, it introduced me to my favorite developer, bioware, and it got me back into rpgs after the gold box games in the 80s/early 90s.

My first Bioware Game was Baldurs Gate 2, but after playing it for a short while, I put it aside and went to go buy Baldurs Gate. Then, I finished them in the proper order.
My favorite Bioware Game is KOTOR, with Mass Effect coming in a close second.

ME1 was a gret, but there were way too many glitches (Textures, I'm looking at you), which keeps it from being my favorite
For me, it's KOTOR, with ME2 coming at second

I still need to get my hands on the Baldur's Gate games and Neverwinter Nights. Argh.
So, I'll just say Dragon Age.

My first Bioware game was Baldur's Gate... played it mostly because of the Black Isle connection (big fan of Fallout and Planescape). Unfortunately I have little to no knowledge of D&D and prefer to feel my way through games and you simply cannot do that with Baldur's Gate. Turned me off of Bioware games until Mass Effect. Then I played almost all of them right afterwards (with the exception of BG1's expansion, Shattered Steel and Sonic).
Favorite is ME 2...

My first Bioware game was actually MDK 2 for the Dreamcast which I still own. I had heard about Baldur's Gate before then but I had foolishly dismissed it as a Diablo knock off.

Hah that is funny because a friend of mine told me it was just like Diablo and it is the reason I picked it up. Of course when I played the game I was pleasantly surprised.

My favorite is Baldur's Gate 2. I replay it every year during the summer. I love almost everything about it, the ruleset, the engine, the combat, the story. Mass Effect comes in 2nd I think.

Baldur's Gate 2 has a timeless quality to it like Looney Tunes cartoons.

Neverwinter Nights without any doubt.
Same reason as been said before, because of the Player made modules and PW's online.

I'd go as far to say BioWare exists because of Baldur's Gate

I've only played two Bioware games, Mass Effect 1 and 2. Of out the two I would say Mass Effect 1. I am considering buying my first real RPG, Dragon Age.

Maybe you only played the single player part of NWN? I will reveal to you that there is a multiplayer part of that game that is very good indeed and people are still 9 years after the release playing and patching this game.Ghost Lightning wrote...
Neverwinter Nights beating KoTOR? Blasphemy!
I have been playing many years on online roleplaying servers.
So I assure you there would not be any blasphemy at all for NWN to beat any game whatsoever.

I REALLY LIKED BAL(DUR)S 2 BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST RPG I PLAYED.
A YEAR AGO I BOUGHT BAL(DUR)S AND I THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA CRAPPY IN COMPARISON TO THE SECOND ONE.

Mass Effect 2 before 1, than Dragon Age. I love this three, but it's easy to say which of them i like most. Neverwinter Nights i stopped playing somewhere in the second act. I just asked myself why i was playing it and found no aswer. I hate the D&D rules and the story was extremly boring.
I really tried to like Baldur's Gate, for all the love i have seen for this game must have some reason. I believe everyone who says it has a great story and remarkable characters, but i just can't stand the gameplay. The first time i tried, a goblin or something one-shoted some party member and i got frustrated. The second time i stopped in Candlekeep because the moving was just to slow. After discovering the newer BioWare games for me i tried again and got to the first city in the south, before i got killed in some sidequest. I just can't get into the D&D rules and i am to easily frustrated, i admit. But i'll give KotOR a try soon.
