As the topic says, I can't make up my mind. I came by this new toy in my latest playthrough: M-27 Scimitar. I
have a hard time deciding whether to stick with it or with the M-22
Eviscerator (seen in my previous videos). Mind you, the difficulty level is insanity.

The Scimitar seems more
a) Rewarding
B) Personal
c) Challenging

M-22 Eviscerator is more
a) Powerful (could one shot collector drones for instance)
B) Ammo efficient (hardly ever ran out of ammo)
c) Better at range

I made it easier with a visual:

No time to watch videos, but personally I hate Scimitar, it feels like a pop gun compared to Claymore or Eviscerator. But it really comes down to your personal preference, any shotgun, even Katana, is good enough to easily beat the game.

Also, how is Scimitar more challenging? You do not even have to hit with every shot to be efficient. It felt easiest to use for me. Still hate it though.

I use only Evi and Claymore, because i like one-shots. It breaks my heart when i can't shoot-melee attack thing to death within two seconds. And it is quicker. While you're shooting your scimitar, the victim's friends might easily dispose you.

But it's just me, of course

I like em both, though I tend to gravitate to the Evi more often than not. I likes me a good one shot to the brain. I'd also put out there that the Evi is more challenging. You require much more accuracy to make it count due to the smaller pellet spread and slower rate of fire.

Also, don't forget about melee between Scim shots. It saves you some ammo and actually adds to dps. If you can hit the button a fraction of a second after the shot it works very well. I'd say it's just as effective as the others. It definitely requires some crazy timing to get the melees in, but it's pretty damn fun. You can be quite a bulldozer with it too.

The eviscerator has more power per shot but the scimitar has more shots, causes more damage per clip and has a faster rate of fire.

Eviscerator, stronger per shot and more accurate. Three rounds plus melees is just right per Charge. Haven't played any class with shotguns but a Vanguard so far so I can't comment on a per class-needs basis.

I prefer scimitar because it's more forgiving, I'm horrible when it comes to aiming point blank.. which yeah I know is weird but it's true, I dunno if it's cause my mouse acceleration or I'm really just that bad. Whenever I try and change the mouse acceleration my game crashes.. so i've kinda given up on it.

This should help. Mouse acceleration is the most horrible thing in the gaming world. Why do game engines even support it? That was the first thing I did on release day after about half an hour of playing. Life is much better when you have actual control.

I know the math, I was asking about wat people prefer.

So far M-22 Eviscerator is winning. The thing is that ever since I got the Scimitar it just felt right. I realize that the Eviscerator is better when it comes to a single shot and I won't go for the Krogan shotgun as I got bored of it in my first vanguard playthrough (and will be going for a sniper rifle on the collector ship). It is true, you need 2-3 shots on regular enemies instead of one-two but there just is something magical about the way Scimitar works I just can't formulate it yet.

The krogan shotgun as you call it, is probably the most effective at killing stuff whenever warp explosions are not available.

I prefer the scimitar. Mainly because I like the rate of fire. The evi just feels too slow and if...more like when I miss a shot it just seems to take forever to get to the next round or, gasp, have to reload.

Gotta admit I refer the Scimitar. The rate of fire and clip size on the Evi just get really frustrating after a while, whereas the Scimitar seems to be much more flexible in firefights.

I think it needs to specified that Evi works best for vanguard because it's much easier to line headshots after charge. When playing sentinel i usually use scimitar or even katana

Doh!! I'm such a putz, I was using the wrong editor to edit the files, thanks a million, works perfectly now I can actually hit things after my charge woot! :)

I will second this; I turned off vsync, mouse dampening, mouse smoothing and lowered my mouse sensitivity and the difference is like night and day. The game actually handles like a real fps after those tweaks.

Back on topic: I prefer the evi, even over the claymore because I refuse to use the reload trick.

Right on! You're welcome. It boggles me how many games have acceleration enabled by default...

I prefer the scimitar because of the rate of fire.  I take an Assault Rifle as my bonus weapon so I don't need a gun for medium range when I have the vindicator.  I also think the eviscerator looks really ugly... yeah I'm shallow because I want my shepard to look cool.  I also am constantly changing my armor to see what I like.  I rarely use charge anywase.  My vanguard is purely biotic.  I have all biotic powers (and passive + bonus.. which is reave) at level 4.  That leaves my ammo powers lacking (lvl 1 incendiary ammo).  I take squadmates with ammo powers set to squad ammo power to compensate.

Early in the game, Evi.

When I get the 100% ammo capacity upgrade, Scimitar. Rate of fire, sound (yeah, I know), forgivingness...

Eviscerator. It has range. I blasted a Geth Prime, that had to be about 10 feet away, to hell with the last shot of the clip.

Eviscerator. It owns. While Scimitar might have bigger damage per clip and faster rpm, it still delivers damage too slow. Evi has some range too.

I really dislike the scimitar. In games I tend to gravitate towards wepons with high damage in fewer shots. Aside from assault rifles, I'm not a fan of rapid fire. Eviscerator is a lovely shotgun, and my favourite out of the bunch.

Katana, just somehow feels and sounds the best, like a real shotgun should.

Mind you that I've always had a weak spot for great first shotguns, such as the one you find early on in Resi 4.

Eviscerator for my Vanguard. After Charge, you're basically at point-blank so shoot-melee.

For my Soldier, I selected the Scimitar though since melee situations are not so desired.

If I get access to Stolen Memory and pick Shotgun as additional weapon for my other charactors I would go with Scimitar for the same reason, plus they don't sprint as fast as the Soldier so closing to melee range is even less frequent.

Eviscerator all the way. Used it with my Vanguard to the point where I got the Claymore. Also used it with my assault Sentinel. Great shotgun overall, very versatile compared to other available shottys.
