From what I understand the blight-queller achievement counts for the
dark spawn kill count through all play throughs. If that's the case
I've probably killed 2-3k. On one character alone I have exactly 1001
dark spawn kills and the achievement hasn't popped. I was wondering if
anyone had experienced anything similar and if there was a way to fix
it. Sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I looked for anything similar
and didn't find any. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

One thread discussing this problem on DAO 360 is here:

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/67/index/2525472

TLDR version: only killing blows made by the player's character count (across all playthroughs), but it seems to be broken with the current title update (1.03).

Not necessarily the player's character.  The currently controlled character.  So if you switch to controlling Sten, it's now adding Sten's darkspawn kills.

When I got it, with my "kill everything myself" run (with a bow rogue) to verify the bug, the main character was unconscious when I got it.  The achievement winning kill was made by the only surviving member of my party in that battle...  The secret character you can only get near the end.  I had killed a few hundred over the mark, and was actually ignoring the Archdemon to kill more darkspawn when I finally got it.  Early on, I let my allies make occasional attacks.  I actually st my allies to make NO attacks on ANYthing as I was leaving Lothering to ensure that only whoever I controlled made all kills after that point.

Replaying the final battle over and over to rack up your currently controlled darkspawn kills counter is easier by far, I'm sure.

I do not think it's counting accross playthroughs as you say.  It's supposed to...

Ah, good to know. I didn't really need to do any testing, as the achievement popped for me on my first playthrough. Your findings coincide with my experience, though, as I was running a fire/ice mage and often kept the rest of my party out of range and line-of-sight so they didn't wander into my AOE spells.

If it weren't counting across playthroughs, then I would think that replaying the final battle wouldn't contribute (unless there's one counter per main character that doesn't get reset when you reload).

I thought i had the same problem with this, everyone seems to have a different opinion. On my main char, it states in heroic accomplishments that i had done 1100 darkspawn kills, no achievement though. So after reading some other forums i decided to try the alienage in denerim. After each battle i saved and then reloaded the save before the battle to redo it. I did this about 30 times and it finally unlocked for me. So reloading a past save does work and count toward the 1000 kills but its only for one charachter, not across all chars. I also figured it does indeed only count YOUR kills and not the others in you team. Btw my heroic acc. at this part of the game was only 800 ish... hope this helps!!!

That is correct.
