with all the fuzz about the toolset being so awsome let's not forget about something really important!
MUSIC!
i looked around and didn't quite find anything so i have just made a group for musicians and sound designers who want to work for the modding community...
...and of course for the people who want to get in touch with them!
it's all here:

1) Play Dragon's Age
2) Download your module
3) Care enough about your nonprofit project to launch expensive legal operations against you.
Especially since most folk don't have much money to make lawsuits worth it.
Not to mention that it's probably bad publicity in the first place. You're probably safe if you want to do it, but there are alternatives. There's a number of websites out there that offer music you can download and use freely provided you credit the artist and, sometimes, the website you got it from.
If I were you I'd go check out some of those sites, it's not too hard to find non-mainstream music and it'll probably be something the players haven't heard before.

Good to see something like this, I have a hard time finding generic music scores that don't sound overly dramatic when doing things like walking through the forest or a town. Dramatic music doesn't really fit those situations right, but not too many people make the kind of generic music you'd need for it.
aaaaah! i'm trapped in this frame!!!
anyways...you are so right. and actually the hardest part is writing music that supplies atmosphere while not pushing into your consciousness.

Unfortunately legal issues with copyright (among other things) are one of the reasons I can't get into making music for mods. It's a long spiel to get into, and it sucks a bit because I do enjoy making cinematic music and composing orchestral pieces. Who knows what the future may hold though...
I definitely understand where you are coming from. However, this site appears to be a great way to become known for your work. Certainly, whatever you upload can be tracked to you. I think the good outweighs the bad here. Of course, I have yet to be burned by anyone at this time so you may be speaking from experience. But if you're speaking from just fear alone, I would encourage you to participate as a composer. This could help determine how well you work for a mod team with deadlines, for example.

I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I would like to make myself available for composing original music for mods! My degrees are in composition/theory and as I don't yet have a real job I have a fair bit of time on my hands right now. I've been interested in doing some game music for a long time now and in the next few months I'll be providing some music for an iPhone game my friend is designing. Anyway I would be happy to work with MIDI/electronics or with actual performers, and sound designers...I think it would be a lot of fun and I really something to do!

Corbin, are you under contract with someone that prevents you from making music for mods? I got my start not so long ago in mods and I've missed the scene very much. Being here and hopefully helping out the audio folks here in the DA mod scene allows me to get back to my modding roots without violating my contract with Bioware / EA.
As much as I would love to get in on it, it's not possible at this time. Maybe in the future.
I gotta give you props, Vance. It's good to see people who work for the company posting and being active with the communities. I've never bought a Bioware game before, but you guys have already seriously impressed me. I'm really glad to be part of this community and having bought the game.
