What happens in ME2? Are there any conversation choices about missing her?

Thanks

Uh I remember in ME1 Kaiden talks to you about your feelings for her. And I thought it was pretty obvious that you could begin the romance BEFORE Vermire... And if you let Kaiden die, doesn't Ash say he died because of us (Her and Shep)?

Sleeping with her isn't where the romance begins genius.

I don't really know, there might be some kind of reference but you probably get the generic "you betrayed the alliance!!!1111one" speach from Kaidan

Unfortunately no, that's how I created my single Shep for ME2. I was hoping for some "love lost and found again" vibes. No such luck.

Why do you guys keep saying you can't romance her if she's dead??? You could start the romance long before Virmire! Just because she wasn't alive at the end doesn't mean the romance is suddenly null and void. Come on people.
On a positive note, thanks to pyro for actually answering my question. Damn.

Yeah it does. Her dying while romancing her is like me telling Tali or whoever that I have feelings for her and then stop talking to her. It no longer matters.

Sure thing.Posted Image
They really missed the chance to insert  a little more humanity into Shepard by having a little pining for his lost love. Posted Image

Well then that answers my question as well. Basically, even though you started romancing her but then decided it was best she dies on Virmire, you show no remorse or regret in ME2, not even a bit of sadness if her name is brought up. Lazy writing on Biowares part I guess.

Yeah, it shouldn't be 'null and void' but for gameplay purposes it is, thanks to Bioware not bothering with it. Oh well. Maybe they'll do better in ME3 (e.g. "Hell hath no fury like a quarian scorned")

Sorry, but yes it does. Essentially, if you didn't sleep with her, then the game doesn't register that you had a romance with her. Since she died on Virmire, the game thinks that you were single all the way through ME1.<_<

I told her off when she came to my chambers for sexy time, it's still a romance in the sequel.

This kind of happens to Thane if you romance him as a female Shepard.

Shepard doesn't show hardly any remorse, regret, or sadness throughout the series that I recall.  This is something that I think Bioware should address.  If Shepard would express more emotion (anger, sadness, grief, etc.), then the player would feel that, and it would improve the RP experience by leaps and bounds I think.  It's not just the writing, but also voice directing.

I fixed this (sort of).

On one of my ME1 games I flirted with Ashley and Liara but chose Ashley at the confrontation. Then on Virmire (without going into why) I saved Kaiden.

Importing into ME2 I was a little upset that it was Kaiden who wanted to go down with me and the ship in the introduction (I was expecting Liara, especially after reading the prequel comic). Also, in my quarters on the SR2, no picture at all.

So I edited the save in Gibbed save editor. In the ME1 plot flags I ticked 'Romancing Someone' and ticked both 'Romancing Ashley', and 'Romancing Liara' and also 'Saved Kaiden'. Then in the values section I set romance progress with Ashley to 6 (sex), and romance progress with Liara to 4 (which is what Ashley gets to if you romance her but she dies on Virmire). Finally changing the ending to LivedToFightAgain I started a new game with ME2 import.

The result was that during the introduction, it's Liara who's ready to go down with you in flames, and when you get to your quarters on the SR2, Ashley's picture is there to moon over.

I haven't played through to Illium or Horizon yet, but Miranda and Jacob do say it was Ashley Williams who died on Virmire... Not that this is proof positive she won't 'resurrect' and show up on Horizon. On my first save editing attempt on this issue, I only set the flags for Romancing Someone & Romancing Ashley, and Saved Kaiden. This resulted in zombie Ashley ready to go down in flames (again?) with me in the introduction.

Looking forward to see how it turns out (on horizon in particular) and if setting Liara's flag will result in the 'kiss'.

I went the same route; romancing Ashley but having to sacrifice her in order to protect the bomb - which is guarded by the more tech-skilled Kaidan - until it goes off. I had hoped, too, for some more tragic roleplay, but the game does not recognize this at all.

@Crunchyinmilk: Thanks for that idea, I will try this out. The idea of Liara being a compassionate - but hopeless - comrade after Ashley is gone fits well to the theme of tragic love. Please do keep us informed how this tweaking turns out on Horizon!

Just necroing this to say that Kaiden turned up on Horizon and Liara kissed Shep instead of just the friendly hug... so it all looks good.

I don't know if he'd look longingly at Ash's picture prior to entering the Omega 4 relay yet (yeah I play slow).

I wanted to resurrect this just to ask something: can I romance Ash, then get her to die and then romance Liara in ME1?
