UPDATE: I figured it out. I had to press F.

Man i'm having fun now. I one shotted it.  It can one shot me. So it's fair.

I just hate getting one shotted especially when difficult is set to casual.

I want to try and win NORMAL mode without ever dieing. I seem to have a good grasp on combat on foot.

THe thresher maws, it seems like i have to stand still as soon as I see one.

I HATE loading save games.

Every fight i've been in on foot has been winnable by using strategy.

The thresher maw battle is PURE luck.  If I move and it goes under ground, the dice gets rolled. **** that.

And i'm playing on casual and it one shots me on casual?>... **** THAT!!!!!

I will one shot it before it one shots me. That's fair.

Oh my god, you don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.  The thresher maws are incredibly easy to dodge.

And no, it's not "fair", because he's easy to dodge.  You can kill him just by typing it in.

I'm not frowning on cheats, by the way.  If that's how you have fun, then whatever.  But still, I think it's incredibly immature to say ME has a terrible fighting system just because you aren't good at it.

No, for gods sake, you're totally
missing the point.  It's almost never a good idea to stand still when
fighting something... all you have to do is move in a circle, and he's
almost guaranteed not to hit you.  At least make some effort to dodge
something that will kill you...

Uhm... no, it's not random. Look on your map. Every single thresher maw in the game (and there's only like, 3 or 4 or something) lives in a perfectly circular perfectly flat area of land. You don't want to fight one? Then... uh... drive around it. There's not a single one you have to engage to finish the game, and there's barely any of them in the game anyway.

I mean, you're an obviously a troll, but I guess there is that teeny tiny 0.0001% chance that you're not. And if you're not? Dude, for the love of god, synonyms. Learn some synonyms. This may be the internet's highest concentration of the phrase "one shotted". One hit kill? OKO? Instakill? Killed me in one hit? Took me out instantly? Synonyms man, they help...

...people, to not want to kill you.

Uh, I usually just either A) drive around in circles so it won't ram my squishy little car, or hit the brakes when it comes up to the surface. Then it's just to pelt it with shells and bullet, while occassionally dodging the acid.



Do that, and you're fine. Otherwise, you can just drive away and not fight the Thresher maw at all.



(hmm, I shall try to kill the Maw on foot next play-through. It'll be interesting )

If your level is high enough it's easier to fight it on foot than in the Mako. Just circle strafe to avoid the acid and stay far enough away so it can't one-shot you. It's not hard.
