Thought I'd post this as it seemed very peculiar to me.

I'm running Mass Effect 1 on a 4850 ATi quad core machine.

When playing the game, I'd get massive screen tearing.  Naturally, turning V-sync on fixes this - but I'm not feeling this 30fps thing.

However, I was able to fix this with turning Hardware audio OFF.

Weird right?  Turning hardware audio off eliminates the screen tearing problem, and I can now play with V-sync off.

Now I'm wondering if this can be applied to Dragon Age somehow?  Lots of screen tearing in that game, and with v-sync on, it makes the game 30fps.  No hardware audio option though, so no dice.

Mass Effect 2 runs flawlessly with no tearing at all.
