Could this feature not be added onto the profile page so users can reset their achievements when they feel like it?

I would like to agree, as I was just pondering this moments ago. It would be enjoyable to have a completely clean run-through, online profile and otherwise. I would love to reset all my achievements and see how many of them I could achieve on purpose this time XD.

You can reset achievements though there might be some problems appearing while doing this, including problem with DLC's.

For XP users C:\\ -> Documents and Settings -> User -> My Documents -> Dragon Age -> Bioware - Settings - delete file named: Profile.dap This will get rid of all achievements. For me it didn't 'break' anything else, but a friend of mine had a problem with DCL so make sure you make a backup copy of while Bioware Folder or something ;)

Yeah I'm curious. It shouldn't be too hard to implement a 'manage achievements' button on the website profile page next to 'manage characters' and 'manage screenshots' that lets you reset your achievements at whim.

Agree. It would be great, if your character can get a new achievement which has already been received. I'm talking about "Story" section at Profiles page :)

So please, add this feature as soon as you can!

P.S. Sorry for my bad English ^_^

Having an option to reset statistics, achievements, and specs tied to your online account would be nice for those who want it. However, I really like the fact that my achievements are tied to my online account. I format and reinstall Windows and drivers constantly to keep an optimal PC running for gaming. So games that have achievements that reset every time I wipe my drive are useless and frustrating. I don't care so much about keeping my characters, since when I format I will most likely play another character or start over, but keeping achievements or difficulty unlocks/etc. is nice to have tied to an account. Sort of like MMO's.

That's why an option to reset would be perfect. I wonder how difficult it would be to implement? I'm no expert.

The option to 'deglobalize' achievements would indeed be welcome. It appears that a few of them are responsible for some rather annoying bugs. The family of 'recruiter' achievements for instance - on my first playthrough everything went smoothly and no companion-connected glitches took place, but after I've finished the game and decided to play again with another character, all sorts of most disturbing (well... sometimes funny, but mostly disturbing) bugs suddenly popped up.

SPOILERS ALARM! WATCH YOUR VIRGINITY!

First bug struck me at Redcliffe - not the game-breaking type, but still weird:
After thoroughly fireballing the hell out of the dead men's asses, freeing Jowan, and finally reaching the castle, I was presented with an option of performing a blood magic ritual to save Connor. Although I didn't want Isolde to needlessly sacrifice herself (seriously, in her place I would just send someone to fetch some random, nameless villager and avoid all the drama), having little choice and no desire to waste my precious time bringing legitimate mages from the Circle, I let him cast the spell. But before that, I had to choose which of my mages (by that time: one) would venture into the Fade. Only Morrigan was with me, but to my surprise, it turned out that we'd been good old friends with Wynne, even though my current character had not yet been able to recruit her - one of my dialogue options was something like "Wynne will go, I'll just perform a jump in time and bring her here from the future. Be back in a minute."

Another glitch with Wynne (before being recruited) happened just after I got back to the Party Camp. Apparently, Miss Oatmeal-With-Raisins-And-Honey, aside from being the vessel for a benevolent spirit, has also a highly developed talent of astral projection! Evidence? She sent her invisible self from the Tower and into to the camp and threatened to bathe my dog! Unthinkable!

But these bugs with Wynne were not really anything serious, and once I recruited her (in her physical form, at least) everything went back to normal and I don't think it affected the gameplay later. A similar issue with Oghren, however, almost broke the Orzammar questline - I had to use the debug command once to get me through the quest with Branka.
Oghren didn't appear for recruitment before entering the Deep Roads, as he was supposed to. My guess is that the game recognized his status as recruited and did not trigger the scene. During the whole quest I was accompanied by Oghren's voice, but his body was nowhere to be found. Indeed, astral projection seems to be quite popular in Ferelden. At one point - fighting with spiders and encountering Branka's journal - the activator did not, well... activate, despite the gold arrow hovering over it. I suspect that Oghren's presence was a condition to read it, so I was forced to use Debug to get me to the Trenches and update the quest.
But it was not all - after finishing Orzammar, Oghren's 'astral body' still accompanied me for the rest of the game, lending his disembodied voice in several places. I wasn't even able to talk to him and egzorcise this bothersome ghost out of my party.

Another weird thing happened during the siege of Denerim. While the Party members were lining up to tell me what a loser I was to be picked to fight the Archbastard, suddenly the disembodied voices of both Oghren and Loghain (whom I had recruited in a previous playthrough, but this time had Alistair effectively finish him off) appeared to wish me luck! Since then, I have had not a shade of doubt that I was either being haunted or hit very hard in the head.

And here's number one: the most disturbing of all.
After the Big Bad Dragon's slayage, during the post-coronation party at the castle, the strangest thing took place - Oghren got his corporeal form back, and Loghain rose from his grave and appeared at my party - with his head attached again! Ahh... Modern medicine works miracles.

PAST SPOILERS!

BUT! I think I got a little off-topic. The point is, it's the achievement system, and its global variables, that screwed my game - in "Profile.dap" there are following entries:

@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_ALISTAIR;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_DOG;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_LELIANA;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_LOGHAIN;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_MORRIGAN;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_OGHREN;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_STEN;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_WYNNE;specialization;1
@ACH_FAKE_RECRUITER_ZEVRAN;specialization;1

I have no idea whether or not they serve as global indicators of the recruitment status, but it certainly appears so. If they do, I suspect that they work just like specializations - affecting the whole profile globally, rather than only local characters.

AND THAT SUCKS.

Though I suppose there must be some reason behind it, so obscure that my mind is just unable to grasp it. Otherwise, someone must have really screwed the game's code.

PS.
By the way, if anybody knew how to modify "Profile.dab" without corrupting the file, I might be able to test my claims.

I would like to reset site achievements as well.

And a confirmation that I don't have ANY characters on the site anymore, so I can re-upload the 4 I have here, upload them right, and see them.

Is possible, but only for the game, not for the online profile.

Go to C:\\Documents and Settings\\[username]\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings

open Profile.dap file using notepad and set to 0 (zero) all the string.

Let me make an example:

@ACH_DECISIVE_ULTIMATE_SACRIFICE;default;1 mean you sacrifice yourself killing the archdemon, so you get the achievement Ultimate Sacrifice (or something named like that).

if you set this to 0 (zero) the achievement go away...

@ACH_DECISIVE_ULTIMATE_SACRIFICE;default;0

This don't work for all feature, as far as i can see.

On other hand, you can use cheat, there are a lot of trainer that allow you to do this, but either way you'll be branded as cheater, so...

Well, I figured it out myself, but every time I try to modify the file with notepad, the game refuses to run.
Blah, I'm just going to remove it. Hope it'll reset the global variables for a new game.

That will... however, the ONLINE achievements will still be downloaded together with any updates...

(Also, perhaps temporary stopping the update service and then editing the file will allow you to run the game smooth afterwards. The service has the annoying tendency to run the full time, even when the game isn't started up)

Hum... if I DELETE the Profile.asp, it will recreate a new one.

I'll try to manually set them all to 0 and let it sync with the online one, maybe that'll work?

I hope that works, I'd love to clear mine out. I accidently ran a mod to give me all the achievements when I was fiddling around, and didn't realize I couldn't undo it just by removing the mod. :(

Sorry... but I *GUESS* (may be wrong) that the online scores prioritize over the locally saved one.

If so, when I deleted teh Profile.dap file, three achievements I did while offline (daelish/mage/nobledwarf origins) shouldn't be there anymore, since it downloads the one from the servers, don't you think?

Would it be possible to have two? One for player profile total achievements and one for individual character achievements? Or is this what the manage character's page is for?

Plus a clean playthrough so I have the opportunity to unlock it all again (like killing 100 darkspawn) somehow adds to the enjoyment for me personally.

Counts for me too. I'm someone who can replay games quite some times. If I get most achievements in (say) three playthroughs or so, I'd could be that the game ends up on a shelf for 2 years when I'm (re)playing other games.

After such a long time, I'd like to remove all achievements from the game and profile to start anew.

Is there any way to see the achievements you've got in game? (Must confess, I haven't really looked for it yet.)

I wonder if removing your game from your profile would do the trick. I'm a bit scared but it might be an option. If you go to My Games -> register games, you have the option to remove registration. Wonder if removing, letting it clear out, then re-registering would fix it.
