Just me again. Wondering whether we can get an official Bioware comment on this issue.

the acheivements issue is due to how games for windows acheivements are designed ( based on how MS designed Xbox live acheivements ). In fact they are supposed to merge idf you use both Xbox & PC though I never got that working...
Anyway, once an achievment is registered in games for windows or in xbox live it is there for ever, stored on their servers, and is downloaded to any new PC or console that you log in from.
another side effect of this GFW/ Xbox livedesign is that you onle get 1 gamer profile per e-mail account, so the only way to clean start some games ( like residnet evil 5) is to go : new email account, new GFW profile, new game. ( otherwise new game retains inventory from previous plays )
I don't see how bioware / EA could ever fix this. best you cvould hope for is an offline only user mod that allows for mutiple profiles / achievements and which blocks on-line updates.

Merry Xmas all. I'm hoping Bioware will give us the option to selectively delete our achievements from their servers - if that is indeed the case as you suggest.

It would be nice to be able to reset it.
Gives more freedom, for those who needs it
*raises hand*
But Happy New Year as it arrives to all DA:O players out there, especially the Apple ones ;-)

Would be ideal if we could get a response on this before the release of Return to Ostagar. Would really like to do a clean playthrough with the new DLC.

This is a user/peer run unmoderated forum. The expectation is that you won't receive an "official word" from Bioware. Additionally, this is the sort of thing that's put in place due to the Games for Windows sticker, so in likelihood you'll have to do something dramatic like "never play online again" or the like.
But, as I can't speak authoritatively for Bioware either, you may now have a bump.

Delete My documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Settings/profile.dap and never even login again while in the game ?

Then you can't access any of the DLC!
I still have hope someone from Bioware will read this thread.

Delete profile.dat + always stay offline when playing dragon age + install DLCs and activate them via editing xml file (google it). Problem solved.
I highly doubt Bioware will ever fix this issue in the future.

Seriously it would be nice to wipe the achievements so one can start afresh. I like having them pop up from time to time and miss that now. I'd think it'd just be a matter of making an option in the profile maintenance. They can throw up some click-thru screens to make sure that one is certain they wish to delete their achievements before doing so (and likely supply instructions to delete the local file so it doesn't just send the achievements back to the server.)

My thoughts exactly.

Bumping this - it's a great idea deserving attention.
I too would love to start over with a clean slate.
