If you only had the choice of One companion to bring into Dragon Age 2, complete with full back story and any romance or friendships carry on. I know this likely is not possible. However let's pretend, out of all of your companions,

Who would You pick?

Me personally. I'd have to say Morrgian, the whole demon baby who has the ablity to understand his/her power and make the very world crumble under it's feet is interesting

Also Morrgian is interesting as well, I don't know truely if she and her mother are one and same person or not.

Plus her spells were wicked cool, she could heal and damage with a personality to keep me interested

A companion from Origins or am I allowed Awakenings too?

Origins only - Zevran. His arc is my favourite - romanced or just friendly. He's rock solid once he's on side, the one I'd trust most at my back.

If I'm allowed someone from Awakenings instead - Anders. Would love to know more about that character.

I would want Shale. She's all kinds of awesome.

Edit: Oh, and she's the only companion that could still be available even if there is a significant timeskip between games.

I'd have to pick Morrigan just because she's a gigantic loose thread, but otherwise I'd go with Zevran, because at the end of DA:O he traveled with me in my search for her and was generally a good friend

Definitely Morrigan.  I don't think any other DAO character has so many unanswered questions surrounding them.

I couldn't see pregnant and/or baby toting Morrigan as a real asset in fighting the darkspawn. Cool to have around maybe, but less so for the actual work part.

I'd say Zevran or Leliana - I think they both have stories that are in distant lands and so wouldn't interfere with anything if the writers didn't want it to - but could with an additional effect on the complexity.

Leli would be good. I hope they don't get redundant on characters like they are now...like having two or three of the same type fighters and more rogues than you need.

If you're reffering to the fact that as a golem, she wont age, then you're half wrong. Dpending on how friendly you were, Shale may have gone off and decided to turn herself into a ddwarf again, meaning that she would age just the same as anyone else in your party.

Anyway, I choose Morrigan, for reasons that have already been stated.

We know that she sets off to seek her mortality and that if you die eventually she regains it but it could very well take awhile (and probably does) so if the game is set, say, a generation later then the Imperium might not have found a way yet.

Morrigan. The looming plot of the Dark Ritual is just too good versus what other companions offer.

The rational individual in me says Morrigan because the DR is the biggest loose end in all of Dragon Age Origins. However if I hit myself in the head with a hammer a bit and kill off all rational mature thought, I'd say Leliana cause she's my favorite character so selfishly I want her around more.

I'd say Alistair because I like how essential he was to the DAO story and I related to him the most because he was a fellow Grey Warden. I like Zevran and Leliana, but my canon character is quite serious about the threat of the Blight and neither of those two have any desire to be a Grey Warden. (Nathaniel knocked my socks off when he sincerely asked to join.)

It's the same thing as wanting Garrus on your team because he's been there with you from the start and just gets it. He gets the mission, he gets the whole spectre thing, and he's got your back. Alistair meets that criteria for my DAO game and that's the reason why I'd pick him first. Morrigan would be my second choice for her role in the Blight and the dark ritual.

Loghain, Morrigan, Nathaniel, Shale, Sigrun, or Justice. Although Oghren or Zevran would be acceptable if I couldn't have anyone else.  Just as long as I don't have to take Leliana, Anders, or Alistair everything will be fine. Also Morrigan's baby isn't a demon sorry. The archdemon isn't a demon either. Plus the baby has no darkspawn taint at all.

Leliana, especially if the game is in Orlais, so many possibilties for side stories and things from her past catching up with her.

I think if it's not set too far in the future Alistair will be around as king (although probably not as warden) but as a companion I want Anders back!

Not a demon baby, just the untainted tevinter dragon god of beauty.

But if I had my choice?  Ohgren, Loghaine or Dog in that Order. I loved all those guys.

One companion dang that is hard to choose. I'll give you my top three sorta and that is not even easy for me!

1. Morrigan and Alistair - They are a package deal to me. Morrigan because well the DR results, romance closure, and the whole Flemeth isn't dead situation are all very interesting. Alistair because he is my homeyg we stopped a Blight together. He was the only companion that I could talk to for a whole year who truly understood what we were doing. Yeah the other companions had the whole GW Defenders give up everything for the people, but they truly didn't know what we went through. Well Morrigan maybe did, but no other companion can relate to the nightmares, the idea of a "calling" in which you will die in combat or risk becoming a ghoul because the taint will devour you, and I can't imagine what "feeling" darkspawn near me would be like I can't imagine it being a good feeling.

2. Shayle - Golem or Dwarf form she would always be in my party, and not because of her overpoweredness in Golem for meither. I love her banter and character. I think she is one of the best done characters in the game, and she hardly gets any pub maybe cus she is DLC.

3. Sten - Same as Shale really really good character who doesn't get a lot of attention or time put into getting to know him. His character is awesome all mr no nonsense with a softie side and a sneaky sense of humor. Very well done on Sten Bioware.

I believe Morrigan will make an appearance in the future no matter what, though I doubt she will be a full companion again. Secret companion at the most if you meet certain criteria. She has a child with the soul of an old god and possibly (pretend?) allegiance with Orlais to keep her busy, depending on the ending you got. Either way, we can all agree that her story is not yet over.

I'd like Shale to return regardless of form. We do not know if the Tevinter Imperium has found a way to turn her back into a dwarf so golem!Shale appearing decades later to a new generation of heroes is plausible.

If we're talking about vanilla Origins, I'm torn between Zevran and Leliana for reasons already stated by others. It's harder for me to decide if I include Awakening companions because they were not fleshed out as much as the Origins companions due to the conversation system and shorter duration. Giving someone from Awakening (who is not Oghren) a slot in the DA2 roster will make me happy because hopefully I get to learn and appreciate that character more.

Hm. Absolutely not Morrigan, because I gave her the DR in the hopes that she would leave and not come back in my lifetime. The LAST thing I want is to deal with Morrigan and an old-god sidekick.

I'd keep Alistair. He's just too sweet to leave behind. Or Sten...I don't like his combat style as much, but he's great.
