This is all endgame setup theory crafting still and until you get a character that can do it it wont be as effective say at lvl 8 vrs lvl 18. From the looks of it Early levels two hand is better till later when single hand axes become better due to how high your Str is and such. Also theres the point of contention too where im thinking recently what your duel wield damage would be like with two Veshialles.

You don't need Dual Wielding to make a Rogue work in game. Max out Rogue talents (Stealth comes to mind) use a dagger and a shield. If you take Duelist and Assassin you can get away in combat without investing in the Combat Training skill or Dual Wielding. The Duelist line makes a good alternative.

I've finished the game with such a build it wasn't more difficult than a regular Rogue with two daggers and Momentum.

Another option that I'm currently testing is to ditch Cunning and go for Strength instead with the only major drawback being losing out on Exploit Weakness. Armour penetration is lower but this can be remedied by using maces when it matters.

I found that lost a lot of DPS when I went with a single dagger over Starfang or other large weapon. However, this was early in my playing campaigns, and was a reason I stayed away from DW for so long.

But utilizing STR for the Warden has yet to fail me. The only thing I regret is my failing to see Felon's Coat and other lighter gear other than the Dalish starter set.

Back stabbing with a dagger or duel wielding is actualy sub-optimal for damage. You will see much much larger numbers with A xe or a Two hand if your a Str heavy build(Which you should be in this discussion)
