Hi,

I've been happily playing the game for about 2 days without problems.  This evening the game has started crashing after two minutes of game play.

The only changes to my system have been the downloading of a couple of purchases from Steam.

Rough system specs are:
MacBook Pro 4,1
Snow Leopard 10.6.3
GeForce 8600M GT
4GB RAM
40GB of free hard drive space (200GB total drive capacity)

Soo.. moving swiftly on... I've checked the DA log file, and have seen a lot of this:

DA Download Manager (DADM)    Attempting to connect to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM)    Could not connect to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM)    Restarting DADM HeartBeat!
DA Download Manager (DADM)    OpenService failed (1060)

In addition, I've checked through system logs and come across this one from this evening:

24/06/2010 22:36:33    [0x0-0x17017].com.transgaming.cider.dragonageorigins    0019:: Setting thread precedence to 150 failed: 0x10000003

Any help tracking the cause of this problem down would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Scott  :?

Oh, and also it should be noted that I've got my copy from Direct2Drive and it's the standard version.

So what do you mean by crashing? Do you have an error message pop up saying something along the lines of unhandled page fault or do you have the game freeze?

Unfortunately, no error messages. The game would just freeze.

After some frustration debugging the issue and interacting with a largely unhelpful technical support team at EA I decided to download the PC version and run it on a boot camp partition (installed especially for this game - fun times). Wow does it perform better on Windows.

"started crashing" - was that one crash or a series of them?

A series. It started happening and then didn't stop, so every time I fired the game up it would crash two minutes after getting into the gameplay proper. I've now removed the game from my OS X partition so further debugging isn't an option. Many thanks to the two of you for replying anyway.

Well, sorry it didn't work for you... I get occasional crashes and freezes, but they happen every few weeks, not on a regular basis. (And from what I've read on the PC boards, the PC version gets its share of crashes, too...)
