When will the surge of reviews begin?

I'm wondering what's taking so long. Apparently, some reviewers confirm that they've been given a version of Dragon Age sooner than they'd expected - so that means that they've had more time reviewing the game. Whether that means they've actually spent the time playing the game is something we don't know. Let's hope the extra time means better quality reviews with a focus on both positives and negatives.

We're roughly two weeks away from launch, do you think the bigger sites will voice in with their reviews before the game is released?

I can't wait for Gamespot's and IGN's reviews.

I really hope we'll get a surge of review soon. However, I think they'll wait for AFTER the game is release, to avoid complains of bribery.

Hopefully soon. I can't wait for IGNs, it's the only one I really pay any attention to.

I think we will start to see them next week. Usually the online stuff is heaviest the week before and after release. Most of the monthly sites should have reviews out this month.

Im guessing theyll start coming out a week before release. Its probaly taking a while due to the size of the game.

As long as there are enough to bide my time with while waiting for release then it's fine, although the earlier the better of course :)

The two reviews I really pay attention to are IGN's and PCGamer's.

The PC Gamer reviewer has already pretty much tipped his hand:

It's certainly my favorite BioWare RPG since BG2 and I recommend it. I can understand some people preferring KOTOR as a "game", but DA is certainly a much better RPG, as it has far more roleplaying depth/choices/nuances.

They should be out soon enough. The extra time hopefully means they've had time to start each origin and play through most of them completely.

Bribery?

Exclusive reviews with an informal understanding that a good score will lead to more exclusives..  This has occurred and outright bribery can be assumed to have occurred (though that has not been proved)...

This was highlighted in the public arena a while back by this http://flashofsteel....mespot-scandal/

Publishers and reviewers have made an extra effort to appear credible ever since...

I personally don't care about reviews in any way. That's not how I choose my games, but, of course if the review are bad, the sells will be bad and we may not say DAO2. That would be a tragedy.

I'm guessing next week, becuase even though they have had the game for a while they might be sitting on the review till closer to the games launch. That would be my idea. I do look forward to reading them, even though its not going to affect me buying it. Granted a slew of good reviews can get me to pick up something I didn't have an interest in before.

I personally care a lot... My limited money supply obliges me to choose carefully a game before buying it, so reviews influence a lot my decisions (aren't definitive, especially if something in the game managed to catch my attention). But good for me is 8+.

Thanks for the Desslock post; love that guy. Bought BG2 on his recommendation...

Very interesting comments made by the Desslock guy.

I let reviews influence me, I can admit that right away. I tend to like to see review scores from many sites melted together though, as seen done by metacritic.com - it gives a sense of overview.

Haha, is that a bad thing - playing the same thing that is? Well, before even having tried the game, perhaps looking at the score alone is enough, not actually reading through the entire articles in-detail, they tend to involve spoilers. :)

I really don't want any more reviews the only thing they are doing to me is making me even more crazy about the game and everyone knows the last weeks before launch are always SLOW and full of crazy gamers that want the game :pinched:.
What i want insted of reviews is the dragon age flash game  :D:D

Reviews could rate DAO a 1/10, I'd still get the game. But I read them as I helps me wait, somehow.

Also love playthrough videos.

I tend to focus more on gameplay trailers. Or any video that shows any actual gameplay in action. Since its far easier to work up an actual accurate opinion off a game through "evidence" than just taking some guy's word for it.

Ofcourse there are some game reviewers that I respect enough to actually take them on their word as they have proven time and again to be in sync with my own experiences and opinions of a wide variety off games. And even when we disagree they do it in a professional manner. To name some: Gamespy, IGN, G4TV. And just for the comedy value I could add Zero Punctuation.
