I'm guessing some women could pick up a full grown man.  :wizard:

I direct you to the post above yours. It had nothing to do with strength.

I started a femshep in ME1 then I nerd raged when she picked up Kaiden. It's like weight distribution doesn't matter anymore. It's hard enough for me to put up with FTL.

It's in the future, genetic enhancements is standard issue for every Alliance soldier. The two people arguing about the baby in ME1 talked about this. That or Kaidan is a weak guy. (One of his unspecified biotic side-effects?)

I just don't think Meer's voice fits for Renegade Shep. Even when he's trying to chew someone out, he still sounds friendly and casual to me. Hale's voice fits for both, but she probably does Renegade better than Paragon. Her Renegade one-liners can sound just flat-out cold. It's not that he's bad, he just doesn't fit the role to me. It's like trying to cast Sean Connery as a wise-cracking street criminal or Nicholas Cage as a human being. It just doesn't work.

I play as Femshep more than male shep. In all my rpg style games i play as female. its just somthing different, i think it's cool when the hero or whatever is a girl.

Me too!

I see no problem with with playing as a female character. I made my FemShep as a polar opposite of my initial male character. While my guy is a solid paragon my female is a hardcore **** of a renegade.

Copyed pasted what I said earlier.

Her arms are way smaller than his body. It would be incredibly
difficult for her to balance him on her shoulder. Nothing to do with
strength. It would just be incredibly awkward. I mean she doesn't even
use her other arm. In all honesty Maleshep should use his other arm to
balance him.

Part of the point to an rpg is making it your own. *MY* Shepard is female and always will be. I have a very difficult time playing the character as a male - as it never feels like Shepard. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed that the default for the promo vids and the like is always male - same as Dragon Age. Me, I like female protagonists and feel they are given the short shift way too often.

Again, I agree. I'd post my own thoughts but usually by the time I get in on a forum topic it's almost completely dead.

Much as I enjoy staring at a man's ass for hours, I usually play as femShep for the aesthetic value.

Another point I agree with. People always think that it's not right to play as a female if you're male.  Ever thought maybe it's hot to see a woman puting a hole in some alien's head? Or blasting a 300 yard drive?

Since Slidell brought this up, it would be nice to be able to customize Shepard's body as well as his/her face.

Totally. I think the one-size-fits-all bodies for humans is really lazy. I want tall Shepards, short Shepards, slim Shepards and 'roided out Shepards. Give me options or give me geth!

I want a krogan body in ME3. Female krogan body would be even better.Oh, the fun we would have! I'd finally have a chance to romance Wrex..

I'd like shep to be tall. But he's Liara's hight who in my mind is 5'4 -  5'7.

I'm 6'3 IRL, I'd like shep to be that size as well

I don't like FemSheps. They're too soft, they doesn't sound badass in their Renegade dialogs + They don't fit as a soldiers, IMO Adept class is good for them.  Paragons - OK, but Renegade dialogs leave to the original, Male Shepard. MaleShep FTW!!!

It doesn't help that when I first played as FemShep in ME1 I spent ages customizing her face and by the end I admit I was falling for her... My ideal woman lols

Ha ha! Playing as a woman? Let me remove my monocle and tophat so I can laugh at you properly old chap.

More seriously, a friend of mine always plays as women in any sort of RPG/MMO game. We occasionally make fun of him for it, but that's the price.

...or is that the priiize?

i agree. the thing that pissed me off when i first played the game was that EVERYONE was either a super fit muscular guy or a super fit girl with a rocking body. is there some kind of genetic enhancement in the future that makes everyone have supermodel bodies? i want fat npc, annorexic npcs, short, tall, etc. it would really add to the atmosphere and enhance the story IMO. also i usually play normal shepard with the default face, but a few of my shepards have been girls, because i'd rather look at a girls butt than a guys butt.

also i agree with what was said about the male shepards voice, he sounds too nice. also he talks like he is rushed. i dont know how to describe it, he doesnt take his time saying the words, and he sounds better for paragon, whereas female shepard sounds better as a renegade. i think it may have been the writers intention that the default shepard would be a male paragon, as if its the "canon" story line, and they just stuck a female shepard in there for people who like girls or renegade. sort of like polar opposites.

Is it really that big a deal? I have friends that have said its stupid and that Jen Hale can't act (disagree) and that there is no gameplay differences or dialogue and that everyone knows that Shep is male.

I've played as both.

Basicly, MaleShep sucks when you play the paragon, where FemShep rules at paragon. And excactly the other way around at renegade. And why does everyone "know" Shepard is a man? That's just silly, the female option has been there from the beginning.

Anyway I'm a sucker for tough women. E.G. Kara Thrace in Battlestar Galactica, the badass girl in Die Hard with a Vengeance, or Vasquez in aliens.

@ Bottledwater :Tall, Fat, Short, Slim Shepard..Man, you're boring... try to enjoy with what you have. Besides, it would look kinda funny. "Big, Fat Shepard - Soldier, Savior of the Galaxy, Hero of the Alliance" That would suck...

P.S. MaleShepard is a badass either as a Paragon and Renegade.

My first Shepard was female due to the fact that I was sick and tired of the Action Game Male Protagonist 1A, for me RPG's was a new experience and I wanted to add to that feeling of freshness by playing a female hero, later I found that I enjoyed Hale's voice acting more than Meer's, but his acting has grown on me and I'm currently playing through ME1 with a male character to bring to ME2, however I think that I'll always think of Shepard as a woman.
