Lite the subject implies, is it possible to let the player have more then 4 chars at their disposal at any given time?

Currently at work, but I'll try to look into it when I get home.

Should be pretty basic to change it as it's likely a number that needs to be changed somewhere in the game files, unless they have overcomplicated things and made it hard to modify.

Though, do note that this will cause a few difficulties / annoyances..one of them being that the game is designed for parties of 4 members and not say, 6..so the game will become quite a lot easier if you up the amount of party members...also, cutscenes / convos will become a bit strange as not all characters will fit in to the camera's view..

The first thing about the difficulty can be solved by editing it further so it is even harder, but conversations will be pretty packed.. I remember playing NWN2 with like 9 party members at the same time...that was kind of hilarious.

Sounds good if it works. The "campaign" I had in mind dont involve a lot of conversations so that problem with a lot of chars in on screen at the same time will prolly be a non-issue.

I will eventually look into it myself, im just gonna finish the game first ;) But if you find out how its done, I would be grateful :)

I can see this causing interesting issues with the "Fade" when having to rescue everyone from the sloth demon?

Though you can already have more then 4 people in a party - Summons are additional companions that it seems to handle OK (though a bit differently, they are not in dialog but can be seen in some dialog in the background).

Except in things like the Fade, as mentioned.

As an easy first step I can see things like "Summon Alistair" type spells, that summon companions to your side?

I don't think it's hard, and I think there is a console command for you to remove this limit already, no?

I haven't tested it myself but the command is "runscript zz_addparty" without the quotation ofcourse.

I read from someone who tried that code. NPCs added by this above the limit don´t work properly and do not have all their Skills/Spells etc.

Has anyone tried to change the "SAVEGAME_PARTYMEMBERS" under "SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR" in their save file?

I would test it out myself, but I'm currently unable to. The only file I have on my laptop is one with my character and Tamlen, and since it's not further into the game, with the possibility of more than 4 (which technically I just need to get to Lothering and free Sten/get Leilana fromt he tavern, but I'm lazy). Anyway, yes, I have Tamlen, and it currently has a 1 out form it, so perhaps you good folk with more than character can change it. Although, as stated before, it could cause random game issues.

Modifying the GUI to show more party members is likely to be a lot harder than actually adding them.

It can probably be done, but it will most like be something akin to a mod someone made for NWN way back when you could only have the main character and one henchman. Basically, what they did was assign a henchman to the first henchman, then another henchman to the second and so on. I have no doubt it's possible, but much like NWN, they probably won't function completely like you'd expect as you'd be asking the game to do something it was designed to do.

I wonder if one of the BioWare developers could shed a little light on this. They'd know better than anyone.

I used this to add Leliana when I forgot to go talk to her and lost Lothering. It worked fine. Other than that, I haven't tried anything else. Might do that now, I have a save I keep for stuff like this :P

Ok, doesn't look like you can have more than three other party members.

I checked through their entries in the SAVEGAME_PARTYPOOLMEMBERS of the saved game I have set aside for toying with. In the entries for each character, the ones that were in my party at the time had SAVEGAME_OBJECT_ACTIVE set to 1, and SAVEGAME_PARTYMEMBERS set to 1. Those I had recruited but weren't in my party has SAVEGAME_OBJECT_ACTIVE set to 0, and SAVEGAME_PARTYMEMBERS set to 2.

In my save, my party consisted of the main, Shale, Dog, and Wynne. I opened up Alistair's setting, and changed those two settings to 1 (to match my other party members). I went into DA and loaded up the game. It took a lot longer to load than usual (almost 30 seconds), but when it finally did Alistair wasn't in the party. I came back out and checked the save file again and it had changed Alistair's SAVEGAME_PARTYMEMBERS to -1. Not sure what that settings means, but it wasn't like that before. There might be another check somewhere that can be overridden, but I haven't found it yet.

ah, well, it was just a thought.
I think there's a script you can type in like "Runscript addpartyLoghain" for example, but I haven't the slightest of what the script actually is...I'm sure it's on the Gamefaqs.com Cheats for this though.

#include "events_h"

#include "utility_h"

#include "global_objects_h"

void main(){

string[] PartyMembers;

PartyMembers[TEAM # GOES HERE] = "TAG GOES HERE";

object oFollower = GetObjectByTag(PartyMembers[TEAM NUMBER AGAIN]);

UT_HireFollower(oFollower);

}

You can keep adding people by activating this through plots and have a massive party but the extra followers don't get an avatar pic in top left of screen.

Oh and you'll need to make sure you aren't running the UT_PartyStore/UT_PartyRestore combo in any of your scripts.
