Hi there. I am wanting to go after the achievement for completing the game on the hardcore difficulty... and i want to use my level 59 soldier that is kitted out with all the best equipment.

However, i can't change the difficulty from normal to hardcore until i am actually in the game. If i make the change on the menu, when i start a new game with an imported character it seems to import the difficulty too.

If i change the difficulty in the Normandy before setting down on Eden Prime, will the achievement unlock? Or is there a way around this?

Yes, you should be fine as long as you change the difficulty before reaching the beacon.

Again, yes, I was able to get the hardcore and insanity achievements by changing the difficulty the moment I got control of the game on the Normandy.
