What is this door?



It's in the northwest corner of the walled section of Amaranthine.  It's unpickable.  I apparently had no need to go in it when defending Amaranthine.  Does it serve any purpose, or is it something that the level designers abandoned in place?

I have no idea. I spent some time trying to figure it out, but never came to any conclusion. I suspected it had something to do with the Guards/Smugglers thing, which I botched horribly. I certainly never came across any quest which needed it.

If you side with the smugglers, eventually they will send you to deal with the guard captain or whatever he is. He's at the top of that building and you'll need the key from another guard to open it.



I've never been able to pick it.

Ahhh, okay.  My one full playthrough on Awakening so far has been in favor of the guards in that regard.

If you want it, don't speak to Constable Aidan on your way in to Amaranthine. Just go directly to The Lion and into the Smugglers' Cave.
