Simple question, not such a simple answer. Which combo do you think is best? Yes the word "best" is subjective but I meant it in terms of killing speed. Can the Vindicator keep up with the Revenant? Can the viper keep p with the widow? Which do you think is the best combo? Please explain. Any input would be appreciated

I hate to say this but... *sigh* Revenant/Viper. I love the Widow, but the Revenant destroys and I think the Viper, properly used, has either a higher DPS or comparable one to the Widow.

I really do love that Widow, though.

I absolutely blew through insanity with the vindicator/widow.

That's what I've been leaning toward Pacifen. But when it really it comes down to it, I think it depends on the individual players playstyle. If you are really aggressive with the Revenant, irbid hands down better than the vindicator. But if you sit behind cover for forever, the vindicator is a better choice. And while I also love the widow, I agree with you that the viper can rival it's dps. I think it may even be better, depending on how good of a shot you are.

I prefer Vindicator/Viper.

But my playstyle is to hang around the middle of the battlefield, drawing fire from my teammates but not charging in everyone's face. Against husks I find Viper to be amazing. Pop the A-rush, shoot 3-4 husks once each and then use a throw field from one of your squadies. Quick and sweet.

This is probably going to sound odd, but I was actually displeased when I finally learned how to use the Viper properly. I love the Widow dearly, I love the results I get from it. But then I discover this Viper, which is basically a long-range AR to me, is more versatile and potentially more deadly than my beloved Widow. I hates it! I hates it forever!

But if I'm playing any other class besides Infiltrator, I go with the Viper. And I give the Viper to all my squadmates. Except Legion. 'Cause someone has to be showing the Widow love.

The Revenant only just outperforms the Vindicator even at close range let alone medium or long ranges while the Widow is a huge upgrade on any other sniper rifle.

Overall the Widow/VIndi combination is better.

For maximum damage output, the Vindicator/Widow is what you want to choose.

However, I enjoy the Revenant too much to pick anything else. I mean, the soldier is the only chance to use the weapon, while the Widow seems more of the iconic Infiltrator weapon.

Also depends on what you yourself could use more in your playstyle, by boosting either your ranged capabilities, or your close-range combat.

No matter what gun you choose, so long as they get the job done. That said:

I prefer rev/viper for soldier. the combo of damage and overall volume of fire just seems to work best for me. I can lock down the battlefield with a solid base of fire the same way an adept can do with biotics.

widow is awesome weapon though. I prefer it for the infiltrator. stealth = uninterrupted aiming w/ devastating headshot. soldiers get shot while they're trying to line up their sniper shots so it's tough to make that one shot count unless you use heightened AR

Widow/vindicator dismantles foes. It kills quicker than any other class. IMO

While I'm typically a pure Vindicator/Widow man myself, I'll admit I do have a bit of love for the Viper. Popping a Heightened AR and cracking off a series of headshots before the poor bastard has a chance to finish his impact animation from the first one is pretty glorious. I usually distribute it to sniping squadmates who aren't Legion, however, so me and my robot friend can go Scion-popping together while they lay down fire.

Assault rifles I'm much more up in the air about for squadmates - except Grunt. Grunt simply rocks on things with the Avenger; I get better results from him with it than I do giving him the Geth Pulse Rifle. No idea why.

I like the revvy/viper combo better. Then again I play really agressively and the widow doesn't suit my style. The only thing the widow has going for it is the one shot kill on low level enemies. Yawn, those one shot enemies are so weak they can be beaten to death with your bare hands one on one without any problems even on insanity.

From my experience I seem to kill multiple enemies faster with the viper than I do with the widow. The widow does better against the big guys, but who cares, you're saving yourself about a second using that weapon. Still doesn't compare to the revvy close to medium range. That gun is good for anyone who doesn't like to sit behind cover all the time.

Besides, the widow is for the infiltrator. Take the special weapon best suited to your class. That's the revvy.

There is a way to one-shot kill the more difficult enemies on Insanity (the ones with one defense, not multiples), but it requires the right armor pieces and the right ammo.

The advantage of the Viper, at least on squadmates, is that your squadmates are going to be deadly accurate with it and the enemy is going to be knocked back with every shot. People have said that the squadmates are better at keeping cover with the Mantis, though.

Anyway, Rev/Viper for the aggressive players. Vindicator/Widow for the cautious ones.

The Widow is my love interest. I pick it when the Revenant and the Widow get into a loyalty fight.

I think it ultimately boils down to how flexible you wish to be. The Rev/Viper combo is the ultimate in flexibility - covering all bases. Widow/Vindy is biased towards precision - if you like shooting from afar, then it's a better choice. You're screwed if the fight takes more than a few minutes or if it gets up close and personal, as your're not carrying that much ammo and neither shotguns, Widows or Vindicators function that well outside of their optimum range.

Despite my previous post, I have chosen the Widow/Vindicator combo and I'm glad I did it. I have completed 2 previous soldier playthroughs, and chose the revenant both times because I love that gun and I thought I would just use the widow on my infiltrator runs. But I have realized that I enjoy sniping as a soldier more than my infiltrator. I have the beast that is the widow, and the deadly Vindicator to back it up? That doesn't even seem fair. I believe the vindicator can possibly even rival the revenants dps if used correctly, and the widow is just a beast. Anyways, thanksnfor listening the few of you who did, just thought I'd throw my opinion out there.

Fortunately, no fight has much of a reason to last more than a couple minutes with that loadout unless it's a Praetorian. Those things always give my Designated Marksman Shepard problems until we develop the Cain.

Revanant/Viper.

Note that :
Viper technically has more DPS than the widow, but if your using adrenaline rush or operative, the Widow is more powerful, since you cant fire all the shots required to give the Viper more damage than the Widow, in the timespan given by adrenaline / operative.

Does Widow/Vindicator have more dps than Revvy/Viper ? I'm guessing it doesn't. (given AR and appropriate range etc)

Um, I usually go Revenant/Mantis. I use my Sniper rifle for burst damage, I have other guns for dps.

I liked the Widow/Vindicator/Eviscerator (don't forget SGs) a hell of a lot better because it gives you room for different styles and play, while getting the Revenant (even if it may be a total beast) kinda makes game play one dimensional.
