Either Alistair or Leliana. Alistair is my Warden's best friend, and Leliana is my Warden's girlfriend. Luckily, the game doesn't make me choose between them, but if it did, it would be a difficult choice.

I had to go for a combat view as I kinda like everybody in the team, so my vote went to Leiliana due to me giving her a archer spec and she tends to succed even if the rest of the team fails, Wynne is a close seconds as she's the one who keeps the team alive and well.



From a non-combat point of view though, I find Zevran to be quite amusing.

Close between shale and wynne, both fantastic characters. I kind of like the dog too. From gameplay perspectives anyway. Ohgren is fun to have in the party for his chatter, especially when wynne is also in the group. Zevran is quite amusing also.

I love ALL the companions (well except the secret one but I don't *hate* him either). However Alistair completely charmed his way into my top spot. He may or may not have bribed me with fine cheeses.

Alistair and Wynn are, by far, my two favorite companions. Sten and Leliana are tied for third place. I was touched by the way both of them reacted to my character's sacrifice.

I voted Alistair, but I'm not entirely sure if that was a good choice, Sten is really amusing from time to time, and Wynne is just so wise and intelligent! Hard to choose, but I hate Morrigan at least.

See, I'm a het male, military background. I like those who talk the talk, AND walk the walk.



Morr is funny (if you're into cruel humor), ruthless, and painfully honest. She is also a lethal combat force.



Wynn irritates me. I mean, who the hell d'ye think ye are? Treating the Warden as some kind of errant school boy in need of grandmotherly direction?!? I put up with her, b/c she's useful.



Lel... well, Lel can deliver a punch, if properly developed. But, that sickly sweet little-girl-lost routine gets old. I've dated women like Lel. My god. After you seduce them, you ALWAYS know what they're going to say. At least with a woman like Morrigan, it stays interesting, if a bit dangerous.



Alistair. I don't know why people think he can't hit hard. The guy does a consistent 45 points of damage per hit, he doesn't go down in combat, and he strikes faster than Sten or Oghren. If you don't believe me, compare stats... Sten LOOKS scary, but he's slow and clumsy, and he is usually first to die in a fight. Many times, Al is the only survivor (besides the Warden).

Sure, Alistair is a whiny guy... but he makes up for it in actual combat. I WOULD like to see Morrigan and Alistair square off. I wonder who would win?



Oghren: funny as all get out. A lecherous, smelly drunk, who is a pretty decent fighter, especially if you give him 'Champion' as his second specialization.

Zev is also funny, especially if you get him talking about his past missions. Don't blush about him telling you he thinks you're 'handsome'. What, you're not self confident enough to say 'thanks but no thanks'?!? Treat him right, bribe him w/ a pair of boots, and he is very effective in combat. Remember, he can also make poisons (if that's your bag).



My first character's 'team' was usually the classics: Warden (Human Warrior) + Alistair + Leliana + Morrigan. It was a good, well rounded team that could handle 85% of encounters, no problem. Added benefits included that Morr could make potions, and Lel could open chests and doors. For a long quest, it was a good, solid team.



My next character was an Elf Mage. By this point, I'd gained enough game knowledge that I could experiment a little. So, I went w/ sheer entertainment value. This team was Warden + Oghren + Zev + Morrigan. This team took out the arch-Demon, no problem... and provided plenty of wisecracks along the way to that point.



Summation: if Zevran had a couple levels of 'lockpick' he would probably be the most useful, all-around character. And, he's funny. What's not to love about a guy who is so ambivalent about life and death that he usually sleeps with his victims before he kills them?

My vote: Zevran, followed by Morrigan.
