It would probably be better for all of us if the Asari got here first.

@RunicDragons, yeah, the word definitely has been forever changed in my mind, for the better, I may add. I'm pretty sure that's the one word everyone on this thread will spell correctly for sure. In fact I think definitely is one of three words that I will always associate with Garrus. The other two being reach, and of course none other than, calibrations.

Edit for TOTP:

Garrus ready to f*ck Harkin's sh*t up.

My thoughts on the "mass effect being real" are somewhat like this. The world as it stands is boring. There is no adventure. There are no heroes. There really isn't much in the way of excitement.

If tomorrow, we were to find a Mass Relay on Charon and all this new tech... my gods can you imagine?

I think of it this way.... right now our status quo is pretty sucky. at least... something different would be happening. *shrug*

Yup, this... Why does everything have to be so boring? And if we would find Mass Relay, it would mean a certain of things: Protheans would be real, that would make the Citadel real, which means everything else is real, right?  And everyone would probably treat BioWare like their gods, literally. :P

If it happened, I'd buy a ship, chart a course for the second star to the right, and straight on until morning.

I'd be on cloud nine simply flying around the great unknown to see what I could see.

This is why fanfiction is so wonderful.. when the video game ends, your imagination is still free to roam around the world and get lost in something that isn't reality.

My dream job has always been to study xenobiology but of course, as a species, we've yet to find any extra-terrestial life and the methodw we are using to look for such life resembles the same template as we have seen on eearth (I mean, do you really think all life in the universe is carbon-based or has levo-based DNA?). I think, even if we found it, we wouldn't know we found it. And then I could rant about how much money is spent on everything except the space program (and the money spent there is wasted on the same old projects instead of trying to get to Mars or beyond).

Sometimes it feels like I was born during the wrong decade, you know? I'd be all over life beyond the Charon-relay in a heartbeat. Until then, there's the wonderful world of sci-fi to play make-believe in.

I think many of us were born in the wrong decade. Either too late (Industrial Revolution!)  or too early.  I read fic or watch shows like Farscape where the hero just happens to be in the right place at the right time and gets shunted into another world or somesuch. and ... i just . wish that it was me.   I would give anything for my life to be more exciting. to not be the manager of a coffee shop, but to be a soldier on a spacevessel. Even just a private. i mean. really.

My dream job has always been to be a soldier. I want to go to new and exciting (or even old and exciting) places and ... well..  i would say be badass, but that is not it. and ...  defend what i believe in.
Firefly style. Good gods, if only it were real. There's a line from Firefly. something about having a ship meaning freedom. and that... just yes.

Also, then there would be sexy aliens. and tht would be awesome too.

damn. i feel myself getting all maudlin.

I was definitely born in the wrong century.  I should've either come a few centuries earlier where I could ride around on a horse with a suit of armor saving damsels in distress, or I should've come later, when I could do the same except with spaceships and personal deflector shields.

Our current setting is just.....boring.  Nothing new, nothing to explore, nothing to find.  Your life is structured into a meaningless 9 to 5 existence that no one will remember or care about after you're dead.  Even the great people of times past who met catastrophe in their lifetimes were still remembered for daring greatly, and were able to look back on their lives and be proud of having accomplished something.

Now, I'm doing good if I simply don't lose my temper with my cowokers before lunch.  And that's all I'll ever accomplish.

Right there with you James. Very much right there with you. Thats why I tried like hell to get into the military. At least there, you make SOME difference.
It just sucks. I'm sick of being bored and I'm sick of being meaningless. *shrug* what can you do.

And... that picture... Yuanito! I LOVE IT.

This pic is so good because of what it says.  Here's Garrus, a pretty big imposing guy.  Kind of rough around the edges in character and, as it happens, kind of rough in a literal physical sense too.  That works as an excellent allegory.  Here we have the beautiful femshep, however, in a state of vulnerable surrender; it's a profound act of trust, extended to a man she really cares about.  He might be strong, but he's suffered loss after loss and failure after failure.  For once, she wants him to have something good and have it go right.

On a less philosophical level, if I was Garrus, it'd be nice be with someone who was a bit softer than the average Turian lady, too

Damn, I know how you feel.  I really do.  I almost joined the US Marine Corps out of high school and, to this day, I wonder if I made a mistake in not doing so.  I don't know that I'd have ever made a good soldier...I'm pretty good with a rifle and shoot competitively, but that's a very small part of good, proper soldiering.  At this point, there's a chance I could still join, but I think I'd not be their first choice anymore.  At least I'd finally get my ass into good physical shape.

You know what they say.. a picture is worth a thousand words.

That's the beauty of the Shepard and Garrus relationship. They both need/want something to go right.. just once (or maybe more than once if they can get it). Shepard has very little time to herself in ME2 and she's still recovering from being brought back to life. She wants to heal Garrus' wounds but at the same time she has wounds of her own that need healing.

I like how Garrus is "on top", much of the fanart I have seen is the reverse. It shows a somewhat reversal of roles and it does show the trust angle of the relationship. By the end of ME2, the pair of them are equals whereas ME1 had them more in a mentor-student relationship. It's beautiful to watch the progression.

I really can't wait to see where things go in ME3.

Sorry, if I could speak Italian I would've delivered it in your native language, but alas the only language I know well is Southern Redneck English so it's all I have to work with.

As for my analysis, I admit that you'd have to be familiar with the characters to get everything out of it.  But even if you weren't familiar with them, it's still manages to be both sweet and steamy / erotic at the same time.

It can sometimes be a balance with femsheps.  In ME2, for example, I really like that femshep is the one sitting on the LI's lap in her cabin.  It shows she can still be a feminine woman without sacrificing the badass soldier aspects.

Many designs Shepard "on  top" because they see in him / her the strength, power ...
But it often happens that the roles are reversed, or better ...
this happens in my way of seeing things;)

What? Thank you, but I'm happy to read and learn English! I find it very useful;)

That's true though I cringe at the clipping issues with the Garrus cuddles.

sometimes its nice to konw that there are others out there who understand.  I wasn't allowed into the Gaurd cause i have scars they don't like.   I tried for years.
Yeah, shooting is a pretty small part (though I'm jealous of your competitive shooting skillz)  ... but still. i dunno. *shrug* yeah, you can join at any time. and the Marines are usually looking for people. Specially right now.

And as to the picture....  I really like the softer look of femShep. its really nice to see her being vulnerable. I think you get a very small sense of that in LotSB when she's talking to Liara... but its not enough. She needs her chance to not be so very badass and to just be a woman for once.   I agree with what James said about this picture. its very very tender. and it is VERY nice to see a Garrus-on-top picture. :D

@Obsydian

Thanks :)
The scene to which you allude, with Liara ...
I tasted the fragility of Shepard, her weariness, her love.
And i want to propose that Shepard.
A strong woman with a heavy weight on her shoulders, with  fragility.
Us. Women.

My "competitive" skills are limited to a few local club matches here and there.  I'm by no means a hardcore IDPA or hi power shooter.  I have a set of a few minor issues that might make me not the best first choice for military service (minor, but chronic stomach issues have plagued me for a while, and though I've not been diagnosed, I think I have flat or almost flat feet.  Sure as hell has always felt like it whenever I've been on them for too long).

The softer femshep look is wonderful.  She doesn't *need* a man in her life to lean on, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to, occasionally, let someone else shoulder the burden for a bit and maybe find a bit of safety and security in the arms of a man she loves and respects.

ah yes... i hear that. its sad that the military has so many problems taking willing people. I woulda dedicated my life to military service. but they just wont let me... i'm offering myself to fight for my country. they're turning me down. its rediculous. but welcome to the military.
Flat feet are not usually an issue, nowadays, the stomach thing... since its undiagnosed, they wouldn't even have to know. so long as its not in your records and you don't actually tell them.

and that last bit. that is the most true thing ever.

Gods. what i would't give for that right now. And I like to think of myself as a pretty strong independent woman.

Your sleeping problems won't exist in the military.  You'll be too tired to be an insomniac.  I tried to join.  I was training for the PT tests to get in when I was rear ended at a red light and two of my disks were herniated.

No more military for me.  I can barely walk some days.

If you're young, I see no reason to let something like insomnia stop you.  And it's not a detriment.  Mostly because they'll kick your ass so hard, you'll collapse in your bunk every night.  Never heard of an insomniac soldier.
