Encouragement! I am motivated. Haven't got too many details down yet but I do have it down in my head that it'll be 11, Amy, and Rory meeting FemShep, Garrus, and Mordin. Possibly breaking into groups of Shep/Amy, 11/Mordin, and Garrus/Rory at some point, because I can see those groups playing off each other perfectly in their own little ways.

If I actually do do this it'll be the first fic I've done in... good lord, probably six years or so now. I can only hope my writing's improved.

Well, you know, when he's not thinking about it too hard.

Anyway, considering how tongue tied he gets over just THINKING about the PHYSICAL stuff, I'd always envisioned it as the following:

Shepard: *as Garrus slaps some medigel on a bullet wound* you know I love you...right?
Garrus: ...yeah. *pause* You know the feeling's mutual...right?
Shepard: *sly grin* Yeah. Yeah, I'd do.
Garrus: ...Good. *pause* Shall we get back to work?

(Yes, my husband and I do this to each other all the time, best way to say it without being overly cheesy or cliche)

Yeah, pretty much, Leonia. I mean, much as I'm okay with saying the words with my own husband, it was just plain WEIRD to hear my Lady Hawke say it to Anders. Oddly, though, not that weird hearing Kaidan say it to FemShep. Huh... *ponders*

Bout the whole Garrus saying he loves Shep conversation i started XD : I really have a feeling it will happen. And yes- We will all we squeal.
......And spazz.
I could either be 2 scenarios - near the end before the climax battle, night before the climax battle. Or IF at some point Garrus leaves the normandy  for awhile to go to palaven, or join other turians, or pretty much just leave to get something done- he will start walking out the room with Sep still in the room, and possibly turn back [like an after thought] and go back to her, stumble on his words [because awkward garrus is just so adorable], hold her hands and finally say it during a headbump.

Personally, I hope not. I worry that might be too sappy for Garrus. I'm sure they could come up with something just as heartfelt, more original and more 'Garrus'-ey for him to say instead. Actually, every time one of my BioWare LIs has said 'I love you' I haven't been able to buy it, it felt kind of contrived to me. Then again, the ones that have were almost always my least favorites, so, yeah.

I loved that Fenris in DA2 never said the words 'I love you', but by the end of the romance it was in the subtext of everything else he said.

Give me "I want something to go right. Just once." and "Nothing is going to keep me from you." over 'those three words' any day. Those are the lines I'll remember and the ones that make me go all gooey inside.

Im a total sucker for romance. ONLY if its done right, will it be ok if Garrus would say it. So far his dialog has been superb so Im sure they'll work him well in the game seeing as the relationships get a whole lot deeper. I keep getting the feeling - seeing as this is the end, BW might work it into some dialog at some point.
Considering that the characters that have said it, were unliked characters XP Jacob was just......meh. pathetic. U turn the guy away and he says it. wtf. 
The only one that worked for me was Thane. And miraculously he said it in a love letter. But it was so well written, it just pulled my heart strings. The idea of Garrus actually saying might not be sappy at all. Or least in my head its not. Garrus has trouble letting people in. Obviously his life hasnt been very "great"- putting it lightly. Just during the romance scene, he stumbled all over the place, music, wine - he's trying so hard - probably beating myself up if it goes even remotely wrong. I imagine he'll do the same [minus the drinks and music] to say how he really feels. And his awkward-strumbling nature kicking in with every word   heh. And then in the end - sweet and heartfelt. Just coming out to say it.

I agree with Aris, I don't want to hear those words in that way. I'd prefer them to be cool, maybe in Sheps quarters while he's scratching his head with that adorkable face and saying:

- Shepard, hmmm... you know, you know I...
- Me too, Garrus.

She kisses his forehead and they leave the room.

This wont happen - but wouldnt it be absolutely hilarious if there was an imitation of the Pirates of the Caribbean : At Worlds End moment. The part near the end where Will and Elizabeth were getting married in the middle of the huge climax battle. Same thing with Garrus and Shep - minus the wedding bit.

Garrus: *sniping people* Shepard, u got a minute... -
Shep: *shoots 2 people down* Im kind of busy right now garrus!
Garrus: .....just wanted to let you know....*snipes another* well....*headbutts someone*..i just....*uses overload on someone*....you know I care a lot about you..... 
Shep: *kicks somone & shoots another* I dont think this is the right time and place for this

I think another reason I don't want him to say it aside from the sappy factor is because the relationship hinges so much on subtext in ME2 that I've gotten used to reading between the lines. That's the Shep/Garrus dynamic to me now, there's a bond between them that can't be explained with ordinary words.

I feel like (for me at least,) it's just not necessary for either of them to say it. And it almost doesn't seem like enough.

This is my favourite "I love you" version so far I don't want any soppy loving eye-contact etc maybe I don't want them to even say "I love you". I'll settle for a "don't die ok?" Fenris moment (possible following by some furious turian necking)
To be honest my Shepard trusts Garrus so freaking much (if she were to die there's no question who should carry on in her place) that becoming lovers was such an obvious step so a declaration isn't really required. I'd prefer the affec tion to be shown in actions rather than overly romantic dialogue (I'd like a few moments outside of the "this-is-the-obvious-romantic-cutscene" where your significant other is the one to ask if you're ok or tells you he's right behind you shepard - oh dear I love Garrus so much lol). Also if they both survive ME3 they NEED to both become Spectre's and kick butt all over the galaxy. It's a requirement. If it doesn't happen I'm writing it on some paper and sticking it on my screen DA-epilogue-style.

I love this.    though all of them make me happy. 

the Fenris romance was mentioned before... and the "Please don't die"  that happens at the end of that one nearly killed me.  Something like that would totally work.

Yup. Very well written. I liked the, um, anatomy lesson.

One thing bugs me with many fics, though, and this one is no exception. Why oh why do the authors have to make such a huge fuss about Shepard's given name? The moment there's a "oh please call me by my real name cause nobody else does it OMG it's so personal" scene, I lose half the respect for the story, even when the writing is pro quality, like in this one.

Come to think of it, what the author did here is the worst case scenario. Half the work, it's "Shepard". Then Shep gets intimate with Garrus, and suddenly she's "Gwen". I wouldn't mind it half as much if the story simply started with "Gwen Shepard blah blah blah" and remained consistent. The way it written, it's like having two different characters. Perhaps it was intentional, as in "with him she's a whole different person" - whcih would, actually, drag it down, not up.

Meh. Sorry for the rant. The story doesn't deserve it - it's really good and more than worth the read.

Fanfics like that one remind me of how utterly crappy my own fanfic writing is.  That's pro-grade stuff right there.
