Things Garrus does speak his mind opening on, however, are mission related things. Let's have more of this in ME3, please! More dialogue in general! And yes, give Shep the option to ask her LIs (and crew in general) direct questions about how they feel, but keep it an option. (Mind you, Shepard isn't a complete blank slate like the GW. Maybe s/he doesn't do feelings much either. Mine certainly doesn't) We also need better bromancing dialogue options and friendship dialogues that don't feel as if they are part of a romance that has been chopped short (there is NO WAY the last conversations you have with Jack or Tali are the 'last conversations' your characters are going to have, from a character POV. But sadly, for BW, they became 'no more unless you're playing a character with a penis', which felt so false. I was shocked I couldn't go further with Tali).

Though I'm kind of afraid we'll run out of things to discuss about Garrus and Turians...

Yea, I meant that it doesn't have full voice-over and has that "point and click" combat system. It's also really responsive to what your race and class is as BG was, but the flavor or vibe of DAO is nothing like BG at all (at least to me it wasn't.) How can I put it? It played like an old RPG, but it didn't "feel" like an old RPG. It felt much more postmodern. I guess it depends on what parts of DAO you didn't like. Me, I missed full voice-over and responsive combat. But I loved the story and characters. However, I do think Mass Effect is better. If it was the story and characters you didn't like than nevermind.
On DAO, I didn't "like" the characters so much as I "appreciated" them. Say what you will about liking them, but they are some of the most complex and nuanced characters Bioware has ever made. A lot of thought went into them and for that reason I really appreciate them on an artistic level even if the only people I really "like" are just Alistair, Shale, and the dog.
I don't dislike DA, per se...I just can't get into it. I haven't even played it long enough to meet most of the characters, but the ones I've met, I do like. I think I'm about Level 4? I'm probably going to finish it eventually, except that right now it feels more like a chore and less like a fun game, and that's making me sad.
What origin did you pick? I found some of the origins really boring and Ostagar is also kind of boring. That may be the problem.

Hehe, Garrus thread really is the "wall-of-text" thread. We gotta be careful or people will start to think we have a weird thing for turians or something....
...But I do have a thing for Turians!

Nah, I think discussion is good in a way. Most of the wackier stuff has been moved to the group threads. Not to mention, it wouldn't give more ammunition for this thread to be closed, because we are micro-discussing Garrus.

Are we micro-discussing Garrus? I thought this conversation very broad considering I have been part of conversations such as "what do turians smell like" and "what is there body temperature?"
We haven't run out of stuff to discuss in nearly two years so I think we can hang a little longer especially with DLC and noobs we have to indoctrinate...

I dunno, since looking at stephi's archive, we've covered A LOT of stuff in these threads that would be enough to fuel a new spin-off mass effect trilogy. Not that if it's a bad thing
But I think if somebody stumbles into the pages of WOTs, I think it does intimidate a lot of people.

It's all subjective. I thought the romance was pitch-perfect and I wouldn't change how it played out at all. But that's me. I don't read it as 'mysterious' - I take it that Shep deosn't need Garrus to say it - they have an understanding. Ditto him with her feelings. But that's how I interperate it (and probably has a lot to do with my lack of plain speaking in relationships and life in general when it comes to emotion.)
"Mysterious" really isn't the right word I think. More like "vague" like Bioware themselves didn't quite know what they wanted to do with it. I appreciate the idea that some people can interpret this as blowing off steam, but I didn't want to interpret it that way and felt I sort of had to fish to come up with reasons to interpret it as something deeper. I just don't think a romance can be that broad without loosing coherency. Garrus is thinking something after all. I can determine what my femshep thinks, but putting thoughts in Garrus head for him just feels weird to me. Look at how all over the place fanfic about it is. You get everything from gooshy sentimentality to overt badassery. I know the Garrus romance is fanservice, but something that broad almost seems like too much fanservice. I mean Garrus is a defined person. He has an actual opinion on all this. I'd just like to know it.

You've also got to consider that at some point we will start getting trailers and announcements for ME3. That will inject fresh material as does the constant stream of DLC.

*Ironic addendum* Of course, as soon as I observe that the thread isn't stagnant than the thread promptly stagnates, hehe.

I think I will trust Bioware to make the best story they can. Pleasing every kind of fan is impossible though so we may have to accept that some squadmates and romance options might not be present in ME3. I can imagine less popular romances like Jacob and Miranda being cut in favour for Tali and Garrus. Wich is quite fine by me of course. By showing our support to Garrus they may be inspired to make a even better romance for him in ME3.
I agree.
I'm pretty sure that Bioware didn't expect us to like the turian race as much as we do, expacially Garrus, that's why he wasn't romancable in the first game, I guess.
I'm secure that they'll make much more dialogue options in the tirth and final chapter of the franchise, since it'll be more concentrate on the story and the rpg elements, like they said.
We can only hope, right?

Where did they say they were gonna focus more on story? I don't remember that. (Not doubting you, I'd just like to see it myself. Such a statement would totally make my day.)

So um, what kinds of specific conversations would you guys like to be able to have with Garrus in ME3?
well I for one would definitely want some sarcasm back...I love Garrus' sarcastic streak! I would miss that if they completely left that out.
Then I would love for all characters to have more comments about the current missions, just like Joker has after most of the loyalty missions, but with actual dialogue this time. That would be awesome.
And depending on the LI in the game, I would like to have some flirting too, just a tiny bit.
Oh and of course more investigate....but not just the same every time....but once you investigated one part, it unlocks more investigate options for the next conversation. one can dream, right? RIGHT?

I thought, I had read that too, wasn't that in an interview with Casey? Gotta look through my bookmarks. Maybe I'll find it....
Edit: for one it was here but I thought it was somewhere else too....*still looking*

That article makes my day just like I said it would. I have heard it referenced before but that is the first time I have actually seen it. "Goals for ME3: Same Team!" *Throws confetti, does three back flips, and offers God a high five (since nobody else is home.)*

He actually does have a fair bit to say about the suicide mission actually, more so than any other squad mate than I recall.
I like the idea of squad mates giving their input on the decisions Shepard has made. Kept the genophage cure? Ask Garrus what he thinks of the last mission. He tells you that if the cure does get used, he hopes it's worth it. Etc.

It does, if you scan enough planetsRagabul the Ontarah wrote...
I think he also claimed in some interview that ME2 could have something like "100 gameplay hours" or something like that.
.../is one of the idiots who mined the entire galaxy
As for conversations I want to see, Collider's already said it for me - I want squaddies to acknowledge our decisions. There are plenty of points in ME2 where I would have liked to hear what Garrus thought about a mission.
They did it in ME1 - Ash, Kaidan and Liara would comment on the outcomes of the main missions, so why not implement something similar for ME3?

Of course, one problem for me here would be wanting to keep Garrus happy. I have jokingly said of DAO that my morality had nothing to do with. A lot of my decisions had more to do with "Alistair approves +5"
Granted my paragade is a lot like Garrus so no worries.
