Yeah, I'm still fuzzy on the deep kissing thing. I kinda would like to know.. so I could safely incorporate into fanfiction without having to make it up (I try to be as consistent with canon as possible).

I hope it wasn't a joke. Aside from the kissing thing, knowing what Garrus' scent is seems like such an interesting addition to the lore. I like little details like that.

I was thinking back to my days of minoring in linguistics in undergrad, and came to a startling realization: Turians can't make the "mmmm" sound! They can't perse their lip plates!

Seriously, try saying it without moving your lips AT ALL. You can manage a close approximation, but not the real thing.

Yeah, I thought about this. I bet they substitute the 'nnnnn' sound since it's the closest proxy, at least in untranslated words.

'B' wouldn't work either, or 'F'. There are also sounds that I would imagine would be hard to make with them constantly having air going through the sides of their mouths where it's open.
