I'm not sure that the two paths before Garrus are "leader" or "lone wolf". I think leadership is a natural quality of his that can be expanded on in multiple ways.

I also may be in the minority here but while I would like to see some of the paragon/renegade shifting via Shepard to be seen some where, I don't want Shepard to be responsible for drastically changing Garrus' character. It just doesn't feel right to change somebody else, whether good or for ill because people should be responsible for changing themselves. Maybe Garrus' perceptions and attitudes will shift but I don't want his entire person to go in two opposite directions based on a few comments from Shepard, that's just.. too dramatic and unrealistic.

This is part of why I feel ok keeping him renegade.. because that's who he is and it's not up to me to decide for him. He's a leader and has to take responsibilty for his own actions, which he is willing to do given the conversation during the ME2 loyalty mission. Whether or not his true potential is ever reached, well, I don't know maybe Shepard can play some role in that process but I don't want to be the one controlling the switch between "nice guy" and "bad guy" or whatever the two paths are.

Leonia, I agree. I mean, Garrus respects Shepard so much and I would expect that she definitely influences him. And sure, as far as 'operational style' goes, he might honestly be on the fence about some matters. But I really don't want to see Shepard able to drive him to extremely opposite kinds of behaviors.

When I first played ME1, I was under the mistaken impression somehow that Garrus was older than Shep, which lent a strange cast to the whole 'mentor-student' thing. I thought, 'Why defer to her opinion so much, guy? Aren't you at least a fairly experienced officer?' It was slightly more comfortable once I figured out he was younger than her. Now, I think they are getting closer to being equals, so I'd like to see him get less suggestible, not more. It might even be nice to start seeing Garrus give Shep his opinion (and not just in that "squadmate A vs squadmate B" kind of way.)

I always thought of Garrus as rather young, about Talis age perhaps. But he sure grew up between ME1 and 2, so now he is actualy one of the few that are Shepards equal. This is why I like his romance, besides his handsome looks and charming personality of course.

I think his age depends on whether or not C-sec is classses as the 'military service' that turians have for 15 years. If Garrus did his military training before hand, he would be older, whereas if C-sec counts towards those years, he could be younger.

If we are going to personality though, I would say he is a couple of years younger than Shepard.

Garrus is not the ordinary turian though, he is among the elite in the galaxy in many ways. It wouldn't suprise me if his training and career went faster than the average turian.

I'd say mid 20's to mid 30's on the subject of his age, and on the subject of shaping his character, you can see a paragon or renegade bar beside a character's squad profile in the mass effect 3 screen shots, so I think it will come into play, but I really want it to go further than that, (by that I mean not just simply choosing if he's mean to people) Garrus takes a massive amount of influence from Shepard, Shepard was able to change his outlook on life in mass effect one, It seems feasible to me that after all that they've been through together, Shepard will eventually be able to shape his decision making process as well in mass effect 3.

Oh and thanks for standing up for me Arcian *brofist*

*edit* sorry to interrupt the conversation, but the garrus' mass effect 3 spoiler thread just dropped off of the main romance page, the kelly chambers support thread is ahead of us...

FWIW, I always imagined his age was very close to Shepard's (maybe a year or two younger). It'd be nice to have it confirmed though, we know every other major character's age.

The renegade-paragon bars for squad-mates has already been debunked by the dev team so little chance of that actually making it into ME3 unless they decide to work the system in (which seems a bit late for introducing the system properly in the last game).

Hmm, since Garrus often follows and listens to Shepard, and due to their 'mentor-student' relationship makes me thing Garrus is younger than Shepard. Bur I've always found him older due to his military traing from age 15-30, plus his years in C-Sec. Though they could count that as military training, considering that every citizen from age 15 to 30 serves the state in some capacity, as anything from a soldier to an administrator, from a construction engineer to a sanitation worker.

And considering that turians life spawn are very equal to humans, I think this adds up that Garrus is youunger, but it would be better to get a confirmation. IDK something when/if we get to meet his family on Palaven it could be his birthday, HURRAH, let's celebrate.

On the other hand, I can't really see the point of my subconscious f***ing me over by making me think 9 arduous months have passed and that I'm actually playing the game. There's probably some silver lining of insight in there, but I'm way, way, WAY too mad to see it.

Well some dreams are just plain old wish fulfillment. ;)

On the subject of Garrus' age, wasn't it confirmed by the devs that he's more or less the same age as Shepard? I imagine he served at least 10 years in the army, and had between 2 and 5 in C-Sec before ME1.

I'd so love to see Garrus taking a more decisive role, having more initiative, being able to stand up to Shepard. In my eyes (which are behind some extremely fan-colored glasses), he's already her equal. Hope we find him as such in ME3.

where on earth did that come from? lol, i guess i mean where on Illium?

and re: where do i want to see Garrus? I honestly want him kicking arse and taking names right next to Shepard. Not as her subordinate, as her equal. Officially. either a Spectre or somethin of the sort.

I agree with you on the extent to what Shep can 'mold' Garrus morality. Plus I think hes actually the best renegade character out there and illustrates that renegade =/= brutish ****** way better then renegade Shep sometimes.

Where i see the team leader vs lone wolf come in play is in the effect of having or not Garrus loyalty in ME3. If Shep doesnt do his loyalty mission and Garrus survives he might simply decide hes not made for leadership (because its too painful and complicated). An other event that might influence that part of the characterr development is choosing him as your second team leader in the SM. Then agai Bio might not be tracking all that. But it makes sense if it had some influence.

How did you read all that in a week? There are only 774,746 words in the christian bible, (old and new testament) I have the full edition of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and the first three books together only barely reaches over one million.

Or your exaggerating and I'm about to look really stupid...

Is the prequel the spirit of redemption? It has 89 chapters...

I'm bookmarking this, there's no way I'm going to have the time to read all this in a couple of days...

Hm. I don't like the female. Somebody already said she looks like a child... I agree. Dunno. Something's bothering me about it.

The only fem-turian concept I liked so far is this.
