Of course, religious customs are givens. I would perhaps propose that the human propensity towards individuality may raise eyebrows among mainstream Turians, who value service to the state.

They would probably find Human architecture to be strange. Turians seem to value form over function, and would not see the point of creating large artistic structures like the Eiffel Tower, or the Statue of Liberty.

This makes me wonder. What kind of human customs do you think Garrus or Turians would find weird?

Wedding rings. Baby showers. Halloween. Thanksgiving. Easter. Thats what come at the top of my head.

Depends on the humans. Think the Codex mentions some Turians accepting Confucianism which also puts a certain emphasis on service to the state.

Non-religious customs? Vuvuzelas at sporting events.

I think any human sporting event might seem weird to turians. They might appreciate the athleticism and the community spirit in some of these events though.

Holy dang, I went off for the night and the next morning it has passed over ten pages (of WOTs O_o) I need to stop going back over these threads...

As for the Vuvuzelas, I think Garrus would be sniping away at them if my Shepard brings him to a World Cup. :P

Then again, turians do have a lot of personal freedom, so individualism might not strike them as all that odd, at least in the private sphere.

Dunno, judging by the turian sculpture in Hock's vault, they do also like completely abstract and large works of art.

/selfish not-on-topic interjection

Holy snikies, people!! I'm still on page 97, but I couldn't believe how much discussion is going on here. Awesome! :D

But I was feeling left out and I had a bad day at work so I did a renegade interrupt. >:)

OK, catching up, and I promise I will consolidate posts (Flammie would be proud....)

And, Garrus. <3

I think turians would find many things about humans odd, but as they have dealings with so many other alien races for so long I don't think they would find us odder than any others. For one we probably seem very ambitious and driven to them, fast-paced and energetic but they probably feel that way about salarians. They might find our focus on individuality and proving one's a abilities a little harsh and overly competitive but the krogan are kind of like that too. Also, humans are big on art and expression for it's own sake but asari are kind of that way too. Also, even anatomical weirdness wouldn't be THAT weird as we have a lot things in common with asari, quarians, and drell to name a few. I think one of the things the turians might find baffling is human success despite how all over the place we are. Up until our arrival, I think the turians were kind of the undisputed toughest guys on the block. We can't really challenge them, but I can see how how fast progress would be both baffling and worrying to the long established turian Empire. To them strength comes through cohesion and discipline. They may have seen other cultures kind of life human culture before but I don't think they have seen a culture like ours that amasses power so quickly. They might wonder how we do and find it all very odd and intimidating.

Really? That
makes sense then. I never brought Miranda to the human reaper.

I nearly always bring her, to hear her give her resignation line.  Love it!  (I see you posted the sequence a little later down the page.  One of the highlights of the game for me! :o)

And to make this vaguely Garrus related.  I tried Jacob as squad leader
for the first time last night and he sounds all stressed out on the
radio.  Garrus is the only guy who elicits no protests as leader and
then makes the job sound smooth as butter on the radio.  He's awesome.

He not only sounds relaxed, he sounds like he's having *fun*.  My Shepard always gets a little jealous that I'm not there to hear him say "PERFECT!" in person.  But he's a great leader, so it's all good. :P

Some of those renegade interrupts are almost impossible to ignore like
shooting mechs that are about to attack me. How the heck is that
renegade? A) It's a non-sapient machine. B) It's about to attack me!
Other hard to ignore renegade interrupts include: giant krogan pulls a
gun on me and sabotaging mech may save Archangel's life (and kills a
bunch of mercs I would have shot anyway.) How are those renegade?
Since when are"paragon" and "pushover" interchangeable terms? Yes, I
know lots of sarcastic answers from renegade players are forthcoming.
I've heard them all before. Believe me.

I'm a bit perplexed about what the developers thought was "paragon" and "renegade" sometimes, particularly in ME2, IIRC.

J4N3_M3 wrote...
But most renegade interrupts I just
ignore, like punching Palaven when doing the interview or pushing the
guy off the Dantius tower.

I ignore most, too (except with Ricky the Renegade), but I can't not shove that guy out the window.  This might make me a terrible human being, but it just fills me with glee for some reason.

I might, if I wasn't basking in Garrus's pure awesomesauce during that scene. :wizard:  Which I can't not wholeheartedly do.

Chimervera disturbingly posted the whole zombie-Garrus-Jacob-love scene that makes me want to commit bilateral autoenucleation:

/snipity

Gah, that is still one of the most disturbing (and strangely humorous) things I've ever seen. :pinched:

Didn't it start around page 200 or so of 2.0? I think it was a logical progression from 'liquid sugar'. ("Garrus tastes like liquid sugar? He tastes like Mountain Dew!" sort of thing) But I could be wrong. Maybe Stephi and her awesome powers of archiving can help...

I have no idea if it's accurate, but this meme is born to stick (hah hah) around for long.
Collider wrote:
Though I assume that most of the women who enjoyed the Garrus romance

disserviced if they focused the final scene on the actual sex instead of
the emotions behind the physical and emotional intimacy.

This.
Kim Shepard wrote:
I like the headbump scene. :) I think some of FemShep's dialogue could
have been better... but Garrus' lines were adorable.
I love that scene.  I know a lot of people just don't "get it".  I was actually feeling ripped-off the first time I saw it, LOL.  But, by the second time I loved it...because I got it. :)
Ragabul the Ontarah wrote:
I think Bioware was kinda weirded out by the level of Garrus love and
they figured "these ladies feel short changed because the guys got Liara
and they didn't get a hot malien. They are just projecting onto
Garrus." So they create Thane, the obligatory hot malien and toss
Garrus in as a "why the hell not" but figured most women interested in
maliens would go for Thane. Pre ME2, most women DID latch onto Thane.
His thread on the old forums was on fire. The reason we did that though
is because we never believed they would give us Garrus and so Thane
seemed a more viable option. We still actually wanted Garrus. This is
evidenced by how so many fangirls switched back to Garrus once he was
revealed as an LI. I'm not making this stuff up. I did this very thing
myself and have heard lots of other people say the same thing. My
point is that we don't just want "obligatory hot malien." LOTS of women
actually want Garrus specifically and won't really be satisfied with
anything but that. Does that make sense. (BTW, I love Thane and
actually wish he didn't have to compete with Garrus. He's a great LI. I
almost wish he was in his own game. I feel he has gotten unfairly
overshadowed.)
Yeah, I do feel like, poor Thane sometimes. :(  I myself dropped him like a sack of dirty diapers when I found out Garrus was romanceable.  But I did agonize over it by lying awake in bed for 1 hour first.
J4M3_M3 wrote:
Jacob is just meh! Another reason I really didn't like the entire Jacob
stuff is that my Shepards always acted like cat in heat when talking to
him. The tone of their voice just grossed me out! *barfs* If the Devs
think that's how flirting is supposed to be, no thanks! Pass!
True dat...what was up with Hale's VO in that scene?!?  I mean, she seemed more subdued in ME1...or am I crazy?  Definitely, it helped wreck the scene.  And I really love her in just about everything she's ever done.
Alexine wrote:
Though I'm kind of afraid we'll run out of things to discuss about
Garrus and Turians... :P
I'm not too worried.  For one thing, reposting/rediscussing have already occurred in this and other character threads, and it has merit since new people join from time to time and it's new to them. :)
Ragabul the Ontarah wrote (re. DA:O):
What origin did you pick?  I found some of the origins really boring and
Ostagar is also kind of boring.  That may be the problem.
I picked human noble, because I was strongly encouraged to do Alistair's romance.  I don't have any problem with that, per se, but I am currently in the Korcari Wilds outside Ostagar...is that where you're talking about?
That is totally something I would have done about five years ago. I
used to be the "play a game 100%" and "reread the whole series before
the newest book comes out" sort. If I did that now though, I'd do
nothing but read old books....I've just read too many series. Now, I
just can't be bothered. That probably just means I've gotten lazy and
jaded. Oh well.
No, it just means you don't have full-on OCD, like yours truly. :P
Whenever mutant babies come up, Eradyn starts killing puppies.  It's a
well known fact.  And I start breaking out the pitchforks and starting
peasant revolts.  Mutant babies is the Garrus thread equivalent of a
leper.  Whenever it comes up, people immediately start screaming
"unclean! unclean!"
And baby ducks all over the world spontaneously combust.  /gravenod
Liara up and kisses me
THAT was one of the most unrealistic parts of the game.  I mean, really?  Nobody says anything?  It was like in ME1 if you had smexytime with the Consort and your 2 squadmates just stand there like nothing happened.  HUH?? :bandit:
Sialater wrote:
Yeah... Jacob really doesn't get along with Garrus too well.
Yet another sign that we shouldn't trust Jacob.
Ragabul the Ontarah wrote (re: Jacob):
He doesn't seem to have a beef with aliens at large or even turians.
It's like Garrus specifically rubs him the wrong way. Does he go off on
Thane like that? What's the deal. Does he not like Garrus personality
type or is it actually competition over femshep that he won't admit?
HMMMM.  This is VERY intriguing. :wizard:

If they do it like the Liara Redemption comic in story and art, I'm going to be very disappointed. I've only read the first two parts, and the art style of the turians look very off. Not to mention that something would be missing.

Also arguing with Cerberus fans is a pain, especailly Shandesheprd? Jeez its like somebody killed his cat or something.

I think it would be better because Walters is Garrus writer. Reason why I think Arias comic is going to be well-done, again Walters character. There was a few fantastic parts in the liara comic. (some of issue 1, the last half of issue 3 and issue 4 was just utterly fantastic.) But again, Liara is not Walters character so there is some issues, a Garrus comic would be better because it would be Garrus writer. They just need to do a better job with the artwork in Garrus comic.

A decent comic book is harder to create than they think and they should just give it up until they realize that.
