Voted for garrus of course. These discussion are getting extremely difficult.

You're asking me to vote between Vivi and Otacon? Daxter and Alyx Vance? Seriously gamespot?

Oh well, dogmeat died the first time I sent him into battle, I liked rex more.

yeah this is getting tough. i'm sad that Companion Cube is losing though. to a horse of all things. i mean, seriously... is a horse gonna help push a button for you? no. the horse is gonna go off and eat some hay.
stupid horse.

I also voted Garrus. though i'm a bit sad and ashamed that Minsc lost. super glad that Garrus is still going though!

Oh come on! It's Dogmeat! I'll never forget finding him in junktown the first fallout... feeding him that iquana on a stick. He was so helpless that later in the game you would have to lock him in rooms so that super mutants and killer robots wouldn't mow him down with mini guns and missiles.... Ah good times.

Rex was alright, but I didn't feel the same attachment to him... And when I played DO:A, I sure as hell named that dog, Dogmeat.

*votes for Garrus* no brainer there.

I loved Dogmeat, but yeah he got slaughtered by a super mutant when he was following with me... second play through i kept him at 'home' when i went on mission so he wouldn't get slaughtered, but let him out for walkies when i got back lol.

I refuse to vote for dogmeat. [what kind of name is that btw!?] Everyone tells me that dog dies so many times and runs away. So sry - i aint voting for him. Why? Because it took down Argo in the last round which was clearly the best sidekick from Shadow of the Colossus. Heck - its was ur ONLY companion in the game. The main character has such a bond with Argo. Exploring a vast region with only your sword, bow, and your only friend that goes head first with the character facing 16 GIANT colossus. And in the game, that horse makes sure the Wanderer is safe....at ALL costs.....

And of course i voted Garrus. Without a doubt. but he's only 1.8 points ahead. Too close to call! Im spreading my cyber web to catch me some more supporters. It helped garrus in the last round XD

and GAH! ppl - vote for Clank! I refuse to let him get eliminated by einstein! This is GAME characters for crying out loud! He's been there supporting and sometimes leading Ratchet for YEARS. [according to storyline - they have been together for years^_^] They BEST bros and Clank even went back in time to save Ratchet's life in a shocking turn of events and everything! I love you Clank!!! Hell - me and Clank share the same birthday! XDDDDD

Goodness me has this thread slowed down. Live been swallowing everyone up in it's time consuming, dull, grossly repetitive routine?

Ive actually started working ALOT now >.< Fall flood of games coming in and things are picking up starting next week with Gears 3. Ive got like 6 midnight launches to work....or 8 possibly. idk. And everything in between. I'll surely visit form time to time though.

And gah! can someone link me BK's fcbk pg? Ive been trying to get it but since i dont have fcbk its kinda tough. Imma bookmark it like i did with BW's XD

BTW - just rechecked the poll - garrus is starting to pull ahead ^___^

here. Have a funny yet disturbing comic. lol

You. . . don't like Dogmeat? *slaps you in the face*

But seriously, how can you not like him? He's just simply the best. He may not talk, but that's exactly why he's such a great companion! Just his presence is enough. And the dialog when you find him  is just awesome! "You're all alone?" *dog whines* "Yeah, I now how it feels to be alone". *Dog whines more* "It's all right, you can hang around with me if you like" *Dog barks happily*

And plus, he growles when enemies are nearby. And that's quite handy. But it also depends on how you as a player connect to people, so I'm not judging you, but still c'mon, it's Dogmeat!
------------------------------

Yeah, I noticed Garrus is winning. I would have never expected that. I voted actually for HK:unsure:

You realise that the dogmeat in junktown in fallout 1 is not the same dogmeat that is up for the vote in this contest?  Considering one was in the mojave and the other was in DC, not to mention the 40 year time lapse between the two games. My favourite animal companion is easily K-9 from fallout two, he could talk! And he was a pro-humanist who rallyed against Dr. Schreber's experiments with the enclave. One dog with the capabilty to take out the entire enclave! I say that because k-9 actually delt the final blow in the fight against frank horrigan! Can dogmeat take out a power armoured super mutant, no, of course not.

Are you joking? It's not just a stupid horse, it's epona, have you not played ocarina of time? And companion cube is an imanimate object, it does nothing, and you kill it after using it for 15 minutes, even the one in portal 2 is just a copy, which you also kill if you try to bring it with you might I add! Epona sticks with link through most of the game!

Lol, this poll is turning me against my friends, gamespot you mad trolls...

Poor Garrus is getting trolled hard. /b/ /v/ and now reddit are all voting against him. Who thought sheep could live off of tears and lulz alone.

As for Dogmeat. Still love him. I loved him in all the fallout games, since for me I consider them all pretty well the same character despite the gap in time. Except for Rex.. And sure maybe I'm voting out of nostalgia, but lots of people are. As for the vote not being for the original Dogmeat, but for the Fallout 3 version - meh, I think they are only showing Fallout 3 because it's the most recent and more people know it...

NEVER in my post did I actually say THOSE words. "I hate dogmeat." I didnt say that. And dont virtually slap me just cause Im not purely agreeing on something. Would you have preferred me vote against him? I just didnt vote on THAT bracket.

THATS why i didnt really vote. It aint the original. Im sure the "new" dogmeat is great. I love animal companions, but im a sucker of the classics. Plus ever realize ALL the brackets are classic vs. Recent characters. I mean look at who Garrus has been up against in the past rounds. Ppl know him cuz he's more recent for THIS generation. Same went off in that Dogmeat vs. Argo bracket. Argo was from a cult classic game that didnt get the attention it deserved, at the time, due 2o horrible marketing. Its like with what happened to other cult classics like Beyond Good and Evil, Ico & Okami. In SOTC - Both characters are mute, but its a spiritual connection that needs no words.

*SPOILER ALERT for Shadow of the colossus*
...... Hell - that horse sacrificed itself to make sure the main character lived on to complete his quest to recover his dead lover *sniffle* ....[END SPOILER]

I love you forever Argo. Im totally getting that Ico/SOTC HD collection! Cant wait to replay it in beautiful hd ^____________^
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@Obsy - GASP! X.x You havent played Ocarina of Time!? or Majoras Mask!?....or Twilight Princess!? [titles with Epona in it] GAH! *shakes you* YOU MUST PLAY THEM! *throws games over to you* Image IPB
I LOVE the portal games. And everytime i got that companion cube, i stuck with it ...well as much as the game would allow it, thus me milking the time i had with it XD Remember the ending of portal 2? I was so happy!!! XP Its like seeing an old friend again! Though lets be honest - theres really no comparison to Epona. Thats one brave ass horse. Also Link and Epona have been like reincarnated millions of times and yet are still together. Thats destiny lol!
I got this crazy idea - what with BW made a spinoff of the time Garrus was archangel. He DID have a squad and everything. I can totally see it happening. BW said shepard wont appear in the games anymore. During his time on Omega, Shep WAS dead....so I can it all working out XP *trying to find silly loopholes in BW statements*
edit: OMG!!!!! dsjklgnfjgnf the poll is literally 50/50 X.x GAH! I need to contact my other buds to help garrus! *runs off*
You know, I don't think we always have to talk about Garrus here. We've basically talked about everything there's to talk about him. We're basically just waiting 'til ME3 is here and we might just move to the ME3 Garrus thread when it's finally here. Some off topic discussions will never hurt me at least.
As much as I would adore that to happen, I think it's highly unlikely, for every garrus fan I'm sure there's at least 3 tali fans considering that a large majority of the mass effect audience is male, and while as a man of both persuasions I can have equal leverage over the choice of DEM HIPS or DEM CHICKEN LEGS, I'm sure a vast majority of the mass effect community would still go for the latter. And there-in lies the problem, (for me at least)  if garrus gets his own game then what's to say that any other character shouldn't, it could work for any of the characters really, miranda could get a stealth-action game comperable to what starcraft: ghost would have been, thane could get a splinter-cell clone where you stalk bad guys in the dark, and Gardner could get his own version of cooking mama.
While it is a good set-up for a game, wouldn't that put a lot of pressure on bioware to do the same for the others?And what's more, maybe bioware just wants to turn a new page for the mass effect universe, with a new protagonist and new squad-mates. Why linger with existing characters? That's like saying that bioware should make their own alistair spin-off for dragon age.
There is also the fact that playing as anything that isn't human, (and by human I mean white, monotone, american human) simply isn't done. Hell, even seeing the latin character Gracia Hotspur in shadows of the damned was a big step up. Don't get me wrong, I like it when it's done, Warhammer 40,000: Firewarrior is a game that I really liked and in that, not only are you playing as a Tau soldier, (an alien race in the 40k universe) but you are also fighting against the imperium for a portion of that game. Firewarrior bombed, it tried to be a big mainstream shooter, and appeal to a wider audience that maybe hadn't seen space hulk or the table top game, and it introduced them to the universe by having them play as an alien race that they had never heard of, defending a civilization that they knew nothing about and having them kill humans, all the time wondering why they aren't playing as the guys in 800 pound power armour shooting guns that fire shells that explode while they are inside you.
Now mass effect has built up a large following and I'm not saying that if they did release a triple A game under that premise, that it would bomb, however if you look at this from a developer's standpoint bioware hadn't even implemented same-sex relationships into the serise until the thrid interation based purely on the fear that it would anger the main audience, even still at the very end of the shepard story arc they are marketing mass effect 3 as the perfect place to jump into that serise, if bioware did make a garrus spin-off then I think we're all clear on the fact that it would be purely fan service and while I don't personally think it would necessarily fail, I would think that bioware (being a very large company now) would not feel that it would be worth it to make a triple A experiance out of what is basically fan-service.
I could see it happening as an ios or a handheld game, like mass effect galaxy, but really, I want more than that for the archangel story arc and sadly I doubt we'll see even that.
I have to ask, is the me3 thread any better? Because if it is then I might as well just drop this anti-spoiler pledge and start posting there, cosidering that I'm being pretty rubbish about it anyway. XD
On the [wonderful] idea of a Garrus-centered game: nah, I don't think it's going to happen either.
On the topic of off-topic: I'm 99% sure that we're our own moderators here so if we want to talk off-topic we can. But I for one come here to talk about Garrus and other turians and when I find discussions about other things instead... I mostly just turn around and leave.
On moving to the other thread... well. There are some familiar posters there, but also many, many new faces. And it's difficult for me to relax among new people. Loud people. Dunno. I go there for the laughs sometimes, but I always come back here for "serious" talk.
I'll echo Olivia's thoughts and just add that the other Calibrations thread has had slow activity as well, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of new information on the ME3 front and we've potentially exhausted a lot of the same topics many times here. Things will pick up again when real lives calm down for the regulars, more than likely, and there's always other outlets like Clan V and the Skype group (of which I keep forgetting to take part in, sorry guys and gals). It's cool, at least this thread has brought us all together and we can always find other avenues to converse with another about a variety of topics.
Same here. I hang out here because it seems to have a stronger 'community' feel, though if the ME3 thread is showing posts I do go check them out.  I joined Clan V kinda late, too, but I still poke my head in there once in a while. :)
If you want to vote more than once for Garrus in the gamespot poll, you can use 10minutemail to create temporary email accounts, which you can use to create a gamespot account that will allow you to vote again... repeat as desired.
Dunno where they found it, but hey. Looks awesome, and it says turian design copyright bioware.
