Same.  Poor Garrus and his unique model.  Question for you ladies--

One solution to the hug clipping and facial distortions is to have Garrus place the plaque, then hug Shep.  Another is to use Garrus's helmeted model instead of his open one.  What do you guys think of these options?  I'd like to give Fob more data to work with than just my opinion :D

I was thinking the same thing. It would work well IMO. Plus it'd be nice to see Shep getting all emotional for once. Maybe a little OOC, but hell, Shep almost died again, let her emote a bit.

YES! I CAN POST! After all these months following the Garrus love and being denied by Origin, I can finally talk! ^-^

Er. Hello! :) Big Garrus lover here.

Just saw the female turian picture. Thought she looks amazing and elegent, but then I looked at her chest. Very disappointed in bioware right now. :/

Hi and welcome! :)

Ugh. Well overall she still looks cool (but why on Earth are they covering her up like the other females? Is that a thing? Did they think we wouldn't like her face because it's not sexy enough or something?), her French voice sounds great and from the little things that I've read she's probably a very good character.

But now I can see that it wouldn't be that difficult for Garrus to find FemShep physically attractive. Based on Nyreen's looks, turian females are more similar to human females than I thought.

*sigh*

(and BTW I miss the IT Crowd :crying:)

Hi!  Welcome to the Garrus love!

I wouldn't say I'm so much disappointed in this character per se, but mammaries + reptiles = pet peeve.  Sense, this makes none.

Oh wait.  There's also the Crucible, and the Catalyst, and the random reappearance of rachni if you kill them, and TIM's 180...I suppose boobs in an avian/reptilian species makes perfect sense in that context <_<

I'm not disappointed in her character either! I just really dislike the route they took with her design Image IPB. As someone looking into a bio major, I can't help but feel frustration when people go down the "sexy road" with this sort of stuff. I liked ME because of its' logical thinking, story-telling, and somewhat-believable science. Now they're really pushing on the sex appeal with aliens, and it just makes a real uncanny look when they slap breasts on a very obvious reptilian species. It just looks...odd.

Also, that comic Image IPB Headcanon accepted.

Edit: Silly spelling.

Small grammar pet peeve time ^_^

"Headcanon" = what you think happened.
"Headcannon" = a cannon on your head.

Sorry.  I wasn't an English major in college, but I had two fantastic writing professors who drilled grammar and spelling into my skull.  I was actually a neuroscience major, now working in animal rescue to become a vet tech.  What kind of biology are you looking into?

I wish we had writing professors over here. French classes are close to useless after high school.

And agreed about Nyreen's looks, although I'm pretty sure I'm going to love her regardless. She seems amazing.
It is annoying that Bioware seems to think female characters have to be sexualized to be interesting. I'm still not getting over Ashley's looks. Or EDI's body. Good thing they have winning personalities, at least.

Call me a cynic, but at this point, I pretty much expect video game characters to be sexualized, male or female.  I will never call the ME series fair in terms of gender treatment (just look how long it took to get S/S love interests for guyShep), but we did get some pretty nice shots of Vega and his muscle shirt.  Or lack of shirt :D

Fanservice appearances are just something I gloss over at this point.  Miranda, EDI, and Morrigan are among my favorite BioWare characters, and they barely wear clothes.  Ash is different.  I loved her in ME1.  Nearly shot her--twice--in ME3, and not for her looks.

I don't think you're a cynic, I think you're just being realistic. I tend to gloss over fanservice too, but it sometimes makes me sad that we actually tell ourselves "No fair gender treatment in a video game? What else is new?"
Plus, it's kind of insulting for guys too. As if the only way to get a guy attached to a female character in a video game is to make her hot. Far as I know, guys also care about personalities.

BUT we can still enjoy the game despite fanservice, and that's the most important part.

I like EDI so I can get over the fact that she has a body for... no reason. I could have gotten over the fact
that Ash's looks are IMO completely contradictory to what she was saying
in ME1 (Bioware saying she needed to be sexualized as a LI in
ME3 still confuses me), if she had remained the character I loved in
ME1. I liked the little auto-dialogues I had with her after main
missions, but I didn't feel the BFF vibe between her and my Femshep that I felt in ME1.

Garrus is still awesome. So there's that.

That's true.  My boyfriend actually finds more fanservicey characters really silly.  I once asked him why, and he basically said what you just posted: "It's like they think I won't care about personality.  What's with all the ass shots?"  (That was for Miranda in ME2.)

And thank goodness Garrus stayed his awesome self in ME3, considering some of the spectacular character derailments we saw.

Fully agreed. If anything, he's even 'better' than before, or at least as more screentime to show how great he is ;)

A big thank you to those who already tried out the ME Ending Mod. Just saw it by accident (work has a strange habit to mess with one's free time) and was wondering how bad the turian / human switch glitches are that are mentioned in the vid.
Does anybody around know how easy it is to deactivate the mod again? I am sort of spoiled by the TES games where a simple click is enough, but in other games, modifications may seriously mess with the main game. As a result, I am afraid to install mods beyond simple texture or movie changes.

It's simple in principle but involves some care and forethought.  Basically, you're overwriting the EC files and a .bin file by installing the mod.  Back up any file mentioned in the mod readme--to be safe, back up the entire ME3 install directory.  If you wanna uninstall the mod, you'll have to revert to the backups.

It goes without saying, but if you had a save after Kronos Station with the mod installed and then uninstalled the mod, don't use that save.  I'm not positive it will bork up your game, but games are funny things.

That sounds logical. And if it's a simple (relatively spoken) replacement of data files, and not executing an obscure script or something, making a backup really is simple. Thanks!

Have adorable Kirby Garrus and co. Man, I need all the cute I can get at the moment.

I love robot/AI characters, especially BioWare's. I'm going through my Renegon ManShep's playthrough at the moment--a guy who's very suspicious of AI. He sold Legion to Cerberus. And I just completed the Rannoch mission. You can imagine how well things went :(

Short of the endings themselves, nothing's hurt quite so badly as destroying the geth. And it's different because I know it wasn't a result of bad writing, but rather a result of roleplaying decisions. If anything, that makes watching the geth ships burn over Rannoch even worse.

I SO SORRY LEGION! I SAVED ALL OF YOU IN MY "CANON" PLAYTHROUGH, I PROMISES!

What really depresses me after letting the Geth die on Rannoch (damn you Renegade Shep!) is how many people on the Normandy just say "Good riddance".

I've never seen that during my playthroughs, but I once sacrificed the Quarians with the only Renegade Shepard which really deserves that "title", also for role-playing reasons. Aisa doesn't like people shooting at ships with her on board, and since saving both wasn't possible, the choice was easy. I haven't counted how many crew members try to make you / the player regret the decision - Garrus and Liara I remember, but I suppose there were more. Strange that nobody seems to regret the Geth death, I'd have guessed that the reaction would be a little more balanced between the two choices.

EDI and Liara both made me feel terrible over killing the geth.  They have a conversation where Liara wonders if the geth ever could've been different, and EDI says they no longer have a chance to find out.  Not to mention EDI, Joker, and Shep's conversation about the geth right after Rannoch.  But everyone else (Tali, Garrus, and James) all pretty much said good riddance on the subject.

Here's the thing--without Legion, my Shep didn't know the geth weren't always working for the Reapers, and by the time he got that through his thick skull, it was too late.  He'd already thrown in his lot with the quarians and Tali.  In addition, the geth VI is pretty hostile--reasonably so, but it doesn't help sway a Shep who's already suspicious of synthetics.  As the player, I know they can be very reasonable and sympthetic, but that particular Shepard had no reason to consider the geth anything other than enemies.

Also, I'm getting the Tali/Garrus flirt and mini-romance arc in my present playthrough with ManShep (romanced Miranda). It's actually really adorable watching the two of them flirt and flail about awkwardly, somewhat reminicent of ME2 Garrus and FemShep. More power to Garrus--he's a memetic sex god, even in the games where he doesn't romance Shep.

Never got that, in my games I was either romancing one of them, or one of them was dead. But the romance is indeed cute. I kinda wish Garrus and FemShep had a little bit of flirting like that in ME2 instead of the very blung reach and flexibility conversation.

And the only game in which the Geth died was played with my only almost fully Renegade Shepard. She was interesting to play, but much like my full Paragon Shep I don't think I'll play her again.

I have only one ME3 Shepard who could have seen the full Tali/Garrus-romance, but I chose to avoid visiting the main battery during the game. While I don't hate it in general, I am simply not comfortable with it. Wasn't sure about it at the beginning, but having heard the flirting dialogue and especially the fixed conversations for three or four times now, I get an irrational and completely infantil feeling of jealousy towards Tali when playing my canon Shepards. Seeing the full scene would probably not help.

Edit: I liked different and interesting Shepards in ME2, at least romance-wise. I'd probably have welcomed something like 'smaller' romances for other chars during the hunt for the Collectors. But in ME3, even with the EC ending, I've lost the wish to see all possible roads - the destination just doesn't seem to be worth it. Not sure if that makes sense.

That's what the ending mod is for, at least if you have the PC version :D  And if not, I'm sure you can borrow or buy a used PC version fairly cheap.

Though TBH, ME3 was the least worthwhile to replay with a different Shep.  I have two--my "canon" Paragade FemShep, and my Renegon brotastic ManShep.  They're about as different as you can get without one being pure unadulterated evil, and my experiences in ME1 and ME2 reflected that.  Even if some of the decisions and events were the same, it FELT like a different story.  In ME3 so far, the only major point of departure has been Rannoch, and even that wasn't as drastic of a difference as I would've liked due to the recycled Legion dialogue for the geth VI.

Personally, I think it's because a) there's autodialogue everywhere and B) Renegade Shep got seriously defanged between ME2 and ME3.  What happened to all the yelling and punching and death threats?
