Killing Jacob and Thane in ME2 is way out of my comfort zone, but I thought about it once or twice as well, for the same reason. Stupid character transformation. I like Kirrahe, though, so not recruiting Thane in ME2 and imagining a cure for him is not an option, either.
For Jacob, I found it easiest not to do his mission in ME3 at all. If I ever find the time and if the ME3 modding tools are sufficient fool-proof to allow it (i.e. it's very unlikely), I'll kick anything voiced out of the mission and change the subtitles and e-mails to some wild alternative story. Brynn as his sister / cousin, Jacob with a secret Alliance mission, whatever, just something that makes more sense than the current mess. Don't know what the Jacob fans did when ME3 was released, but I certainly don't envy them. Same for Thane, of course.

Thanks for the new screenshots, Karrie! Given the description of Nyreen's character, I am now convinced to never buy the DLC unless I miraculously turn into some modding savant - or somebody with similar intentions rewrites Omega to save her. Enough ME-related frustration for my taste.

Edit: ToP. Regarding MEHEM: For PC players with ending trauma, it decreases the cost for the psychotherapy, for other players with the same diagnosis, it introduces medium-to-strong anger-envy-attacks. And what Sable said, of course.

I *have* to replay the MEHEM, but I fear I'll be too busy playing BGEE now.

No problem about the screenshots. There's more where that came from.

I found that gibbing Thane and Jacob out of my saves is much easier than killing them off. And yet it still makes me sad that having them dead makes the ME3 story make sense when I did my for science playthoughs.

...And hi!

Since I am a bit out of the loop these days: BGEE is basically BG with BG 2's engine, some new quests and characters, while there will be (or is already) a BG2EE with new content for BG 2? And BGEE is already there, buyable, playable and everything?
...
Definitely too many days left till Christmas.

In any case, I'd welcome any review about BGEE, if you don't mind a PM or two.

Edit: Hi DineBoo! I thought the same when I played my "simulated full renegade" Shepard. I just couldn't kill Wrex in ME, but wanted to have Wreav in ME3 to take the renegade genophage path without having to kick myself into places I can't even reach.
Still felt wrong, though, playing the edited files. And not due to the techical side, but because of the content on my screen.

Hey DineBoo! Long time no see, although you had me laughing for ten minutes straight in Thane's thread. :D

Yeah, basically. And yeah, it's out. And so far, it's pretty damn awesome (Jaheira's yelling in my ear right now, asking for me not to be idle. I missed this.). I'll be happy to review the game for you, but I tend to take my time when I play BG.
They're planning to make BG2:EE, yes.

*wants a MEHEM ending so bad*

Darn you xbox!

Anyway I'm glad I didn't purchase Omega. The only draw was Nyreen and well...I know what happens to her so....Posted Image  Leviathan was worth it for the garrus fluff and that was about it. If this is what they THINK we want in terms of DLC I , I really don't know what to say. This isn't a case of "you can never please the fans!" bioware is just flat out refusing to make anything that the fans even remotely want! Have you EVER seen a thread asking for more shooting and less story/character involvement? I at least expected a small hub world out of it.

Agreed. Though, to be fair, the basic idea (Aria as a temporary squadmate, return to Omega, female Turians...) still seems like either a good idea or proof that they tried to listen to fans. Emphasis on "tried", though.

About MEHEM: Yep, it's unfortunate that (to my knowledge at least) only PC users can use mods. If buying the PC version is out of question, I'd suggest Youtube for two hours straight to mentally override the ending - or printing screenshots and hanging them over the xbox, to simulate it ;)

@Karrie: Much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

They did pretty decently with the EC overall, even if it still didn't get rid of the Catalyst.  And I understand where they were coming from with Leviathan (filling in plot gaps) even if I think it's disingenuous to put plot elements that important in DLC.

As for modding consoles--some folks in the MEHEM thread were talking about it, and I gather that it is possible to use Gibbed on Xbox saves, but installing a mod as ambitious as MEHEM would require busting the Xbox/PS3 in very iffy and extremely illegal ways.  I wouldn't recommend it.

I have no idea why Nyreen's eyes are that way. I really like how tall she looks compared to Shepard. Imagine how small Shepard must look to Garrus.

She really is Garrus' "softer" self. She focuses less on killing the bad guys and more on saving the innocents, but they basically have the same goal. They'd make a terrific duo. I think Shepard could be jealous.

@Sable: You know, I think I really like pre-ME3 Jacob. The more I talk to the guy, the more I like him.
I somehow wish I hadn't gotten Omega.

I was noticing the height difference too. It's funny because at times Shepard looks closer to Garrus' height but looks no where near as close to Nyreen. Well small or no, Garrus know's never to underestimate Shepard.

I wonder if Shepard can feel like the third wheel? I suppose it's possible in that situation but I don't know, it's hard to imagine either as jealous. I can picture maybe a bit of a possessive streak but not much more than that.

I kind of wished that we would see more female Turians lurking in the background of Omega.

Aso I'm jealous of PC players but I still love my PS3. Oh conflicts.

Never mind just Omega, I want more female turians in the game in general.  Especially if they're all as awesome as Nyreen.  Oh turians.  Y U SO COOL

They do, and for my ManShep playthrough, I will totally headcanon the two of them running Omega and kicking ass together.  I love Garrus to bits, and I will therefore happily pair him with badass ladies when he's not romancing my FemShep :D

Are you two actively plotting to make me happy that Nyreen is dead?!
...
Just kidding. Yeah, I could see it, too, and in contrast to Tali (two games of sibling-like chatting, and suddenly lovers?) it wouldn't feel weird to me.

Why yes we are. But you should feel terrible being happy that she's dead. (I am of course kidding as well)
My feelings about the Tali/Garrus pairing keep changing. On the one hand, yeah, it could be kinda cute. On the other hand, it still feels a little weird, and I really disliked the way it was handled in the game. Maybe it's petty jealousy, but their romance dialogue makes me cringe.
But Garrus/Nyreen? I can see it. In fact it's suprising how much I'd probably love it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) my Shepards will never be without Garrus so Nyreen stepping in there would not work out for her. Just saying.

I do like her though and the above picture looks pretty badass. I was playing Palevan last night and couldn't help but run around in giddyness at all the Turians.

I'm not a fan of Garrus/Tali, not because I'm against them having relationships it's just I always saw them as more siblings. I picture him as a younger sibling who is happy to tease someone younger than him and play the big brother.

I'm not always good with voice cues but is Tali flirting with Garrus when you're still romancing him? Her "somebody has to keep you in line" line sounded suspicious. Or I could just be paranoid.

I really liked the Tali/Garrus stuff in my ManShep game.  The romance dialogue itself was a little meh, but all of their banter was freaking adorable and had me squeeing.  Then again, I tend to squee for everything Garrus-related, so I'm hardly the best objective judge :P

I think that's just Tali giving him crap.  Most of Tali and Garrus's lines to each other (regardless of romance status) are that kind of playful teasing.  That's also the tone they sometimes take in their respective romances with Shep, so it can be confusing.  I think it just stems from both of them having more sarcastic senses of humor.

That's the thing, I didn't find it adorable myself (not saying you have bad taste of course, I'm glad you enjoyed it!). Which is funny because before the game came out, I kinda rooted for the pairing, If my Sheps weren't going for one of them, it was nice to know they still had each other. Now it juste makes me cringe. I don't know if it's because of the dialogue or petty jealousy since FemShep/Garrus and ManShep/Tali are my biggest OTPs in Mass Effect.

@Deviant: Nah, I don't think she's flirting. She's way too respectful of Shepard for that, I think.

Ah. My poor Shep did feel a little left out when Garrus tells her 'not right now' and she goes down to talk to Tali and they're having playful banter over the intercom. I know it has to do with game timing but my Shepard doesn't know that. Poor girl. It's ok, his rescue in Leviathan and 'nobody better hurt you line' more than makes up for it. <3

LOL.  Something tells me Garrus, for all his adorkable attempts at suave, probably prefers Shep's straightforward approach.  No dancing around the issue, no playing hard to get, just awkward and possibly drunken proposition.

As a player, I found it incredibly refreshing compared to, say, all of Anders and Fenris' bull.  I love them, don't get me wrong, but I also wanted to bodily hurl them through a plate glass window at times.

Here's to that. I love them to bits but sometimes (more often then not) I wanted to use Unrelenting Force shout from Skyrim to blow them off a cliff, or at least into a body of water.

I kind of got the sense that Turians prefer bluntness to subtly in general. Makes me wonder how Sparatus does it. Also on a curious note do you think his mistress is a Turian or an Asari? I'm thinking Asari, because they are totally not blue humans.

I loved Anders' romance, but it had me say "wow, where did that come from" at times.

I didn't like the beginning of Garrus' romance at first, but I love it now, it grows on you. Something tells me that if Shepard had tried to be subtle, Garrus would have been completely clueless anyway. In fact it'd be fun to headcanon Shepard trying to approach him before the infamous reach and flexibility conversation and him being oblivious about it.

I like to think Sparatus' mistress is a Turian. There aren't enough female turians in ME.

Exactly. Though the alternatives (asari, human perhaps? :D) would be more interesting. And amusing.

With all that praise for Anders and Fenris, I should probably reconsider avoiding DA2. Unless you've all eaten something strange for breakfast / lunch / dinner and suffer from a bad case of hallucinations, of course...
Still, reading through the descriptions gives me a headache every time. Plus, my main characters are paragon-oriented out of habit, with a severe dislike for terrorism, and I liked Justice in Awakening. Not the best circumstances for trying a romance with Anders, I suppose.

I am a firm believer in game demos; go ahead and try out the DA2 demo if you wanna get a feel for it, though it doesn't have Anders or Fenris in it.  One of the great things about DA2 is the friendship/rivalry system--you can vehemently disagree with characters and still have them in your party, still even romance them.  The Anders rivalry romance is a brilliant train wreck--I believe at some point he says, "I don't know whether to kiss you or kill you!"

As for DA2 overall, it's got a LOT of problems.  But not nearly as many as ME3, even without the ending.  If you could stomach ME3, DA2 should be fine.

Yep, he says that when you confirm the romance I think. I got the "refugees eat cats" line, which made me giggle.

DA2 could have been an excellent game, but I like ME3 better, to be honest. I can stomach a lot of things in ME3, and despite *loving* some aspects of DA2, I can't say I enjoy playing it overall (the crazy Anders romance and Varric being his awesome self helped me through it). It's frustrating to see how excellent the game could have been when you scratch the surface a little bit (yep, a bit like ME3). The DLCs were good.
Though I agree on the friendship/rivalry system. It was awesome to be able to play a romance two different ways. And oddly enough, I loved the ending, bittersweet as it was.
