And yes, Lift = Pull from ME1 to ME2. I went from abusing Lift like mad in ME1 to never using it in ME2.

Vanguard is a very aggressive class to play. You take alot of risks (which means a lot of load screens), but you can blow through some levels. Knowing when and how to charge is pretty much the core of the class in ME2. Nothing beats charging into your enemies every few seconds to refresh your shields.

Manual control helps ease the pain. Seriously though, I always go full manual control for my squad in ME2. Probably because it's a lot more essential to prioritize enemies that in ME1. In ME1, I just leave everyone to do their own thing. Not in ME2.

Also, melee makes me panicky, so Vanguard is DEFINITELY not for me. I always feel like I'm doing something wrong if enemies are up in my face.

I manually control my squad 95% of the time. But Jacob is just BLAH! He sometimes just breaks out and I HATE THAT! His loyalty mission is a pain in the ass. I usually send him to take cover so I can take on the enemy myself but sometimes he just comes up and i'm like what the hell?

And the Reaper IFF was my favorite mission on Insanity. The never ending hallway of Husks and Scions was lots of fun. Like bowling. I pretty much let Garrus and Miranda do whatever, as I used the Geth Pulse Rifle to weaken up the armor and go charging about into the Husks.

Do you mean that he comes out of cover even though you didn't tell him to, or that he uses his powers even though he's on manual control? Because the latter shouldn't happen...
The former, however, is a frequent occurrence, unfortunately. Garrus has died because of it several times on my Insanity run.
Jacob's LM on Insanity was painful at the end. Insanity made me realize quite forcibly that there was NO good cover spots when you're fighting the YMIR. I ended up soloing it while hiding in an extremely precarious spot in the previous area. I just left Garrus and Jacob dead, because there was simply no way to make them useful/keep them alive.

I liked learning how to play a Vanguard, but it is *completely* different than how I've ever done combat. Not only did I decide to play a class completely out of my element, I also took the opportunity to bump my difficulty level from Veteran to Insanity. I must have died a couple dozen times learning how to use Charge on Garrus's recruitment mission, but it was the most fun I've ever had dying.
Been going through each class, which gets accompanied by a series of posts called "Worst _____ Ever." I've made it through each class, though.
That may just be the hardest fight in the game. With Grunt and, of course, Garrus it's easier I think.Nilfalasiel wrote...
Oh god...Insanity made me hate Husks with a burning passion. The Reaper IFF made my MaleShep feel like Michael Jackson, with all the backpedalling he was doing. Also the bit during the Long Walk in the SM where you get rushed by Husks and a Scion...boy, was that painful. I ended up realizing I had enough ammo for 2 Cain shots and thus nuked the Scion. The Husks on their own were much less painful, and I even had a Cain shot left for the Human Reaper.

@ Vequi: Concerning the Arc Projector, the thing is, you need to hold the fire button pressed for a few seconds before it actually fires. Maybe that's why you think you're missing? Because if it fires properly, no, it doesn't miss. I think it homes in on the target.

Well if range is the issue, I'll have to try it our on my Vanguard Shep then, she is usually right up in the front giving or being given the smackdown.
My mainshep is an Infiltrator, so shes usually in the back sniping things with the Widow.

I would say Garrus would love having a vanguard charging headlong and draw the enemys attention. That would leave him free to concentrate on sniping without annoying people shooting at him.

Vanguards rock. Course, I imagine they give Garrus fits over watching his girlfriend rocketing across a crowd of enemies to head-butt something.

Hmm...my MainShep is also an Infiltrator, and I don't remember her having problems with the Arc Projector.Sialater wrote...
